I know this is not really within the scope of what you've been doing so far, but this sort of reaction is exactly what has me _dying_ to experience Varnell experiencing one of the D-Day concerts
Varnell is the first reactor I have EVER seen that understood the difference between the two tears. Like I’m so fucking impressed right now. But someone who immediately feels rm the most is gonna be intelligent and someone who really understands music and lyricism.
ppi-ppi is a korean sound word for beep beep, aka Jhope is saying girls are calling him so his phone keeps beeping. Some of the lyrics are hard to understand with the one-to-one translation cuz they need an explanation haha
BTS said the main reason they considered disbanding was because they became too big and the pressure was too much. They never expected or anticipated to blow up like they did, Agust D even said that after their first AMA performance he cried in the shower, not because he was happy but because he never wanted to become this big and famous. They all came from small towns across Korea and started making music in this tiny label, living together sharing one bedroom and suddenly they're the biggest act to ever come out of S.K and one of the biggest artists in the world. People expect them to represent all of S.K, the president is congratulating them and makes them his presidential envoys and gives them diplomatic passports, they speak at the UN three times, people want them to be and act like diplomats, they're winning huge awards all around the world and everywhere they go there are mobs waiting for them, they're doing things no one has ever done before and it was too scary for them. They just wanted to give it all up.
It was totally that, and also the hate that they got at that time (2015-2018) which was vile, mainstream and relentless. It's also pure exhaustion. I've been army since 2016 and I remeber the first ever one month break BTS took. It was crazy. They talk about that more in Tae's suchwita episode, how they were about to disband because of exhaustion!
I think another thing to add is at the time they were considering breaking up they were in the midst of a world tour, while also working on new music, and all the other responsibilities they had. Every single member was being pushed to their limits. They hardly had any time off to enjoy themselves bc they were working so hard every single day. When you consider how stressed they must've felt from the immense pressure of being the ONLY kpop group to reach this level of success, hate from antis, and the stress of doing a year long tour. yeah, i'd consider quitting as well.
Thanks for the St. Louis shout out Varnell, that be my home town I have been to 2 shows, was ready for 2019 when pandemic destroyed everything, then was suppose to be at 1 of the Sofi concerts but night b4 had to cancel flight dad was fighting several deadly diseases and I was the only one to take care of him, but last concert I went to Chicago May 12th 2019 was the best night, rained entire concert, but we had so much fun with the boys, they always say that is their most memorable concert the boys all love Chicago even RM said it's the city he'd want to live in Thanks again for another fun night watching Varnell try denying the love - when will he learn once you find BTS and ARMY we hold on tight and you can't get away the love is to great💜💪🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼
Part of it is more practicle: Their contract with Big Hit was about to run out and the question was if they wanted to renew. It was a very hard time. The pressure but also the barriers, lack of "reward/awards" for their hard work, hate, "fake scandels", outright lies and accusations + racism/xenophobia was hard to deal with. There is an interesting vlog by Jimin - he is a little drunk in it - where he talked about it and how hearing their own music and the camping they went to as a group helped him to decide if he wanted to renew. He only uploaded it a year later.
For Ddaeng you really need to check out the video Ddaeng explained by a Korean because the wordplay around the word ddaeng in there is very heavily based on Korean cultural references that you'll definitely needs some context for to fully understand. RM alone uses it in at least 7 different meanings in his verse. Btw I love how you're slowly adding more and more members, it's like that analogy of cooking a frog lmao. Varnell doesn't even want to accept how far along he is alreay 😂 Also pro tip: Don't fully trust the lyrics on lyrics videos, they're usually done by auto translators that miss some things or are even incorrect at some points and even color code the members wrong at times (first verse for example wasn't Suga but j-hope). The lyrics videos done by DIAL 6137, which you used for Cypher 4 & Ugh are based on the translations by doolset bangtan so those ones are the most accurate.
I love how Varnell got "Tear" lyrics at first listen! Indeed RM was talking about tears, Suga about tearing apart and J-Hope about the fear of parting! This song always hits hard ngl especially when someone saw their 2018 MAMA artist of the year acceptance speech where they talked about the disbanding? Oh man.. Also one of the native Korean speakers broke down the lyrics and her attention was caught by Suga's part "There is no such thing as a beautiful farewell, So please start now Woo take it easy, cut out the heart slowly Yes yes, Over the cut pieces, step on them Regrets, regrets, so that I would not have any such remaining Tear into pieces and burn my heart to a crisp" She said and I quote "The terms he used for “step on” is an old Korean word and is not used in normal speech in modern-day. Most Koreans are very familiar with it though, as it appears in the very well-known poem, “Azaleas” by Kim Sowol. The Korean Azaleas grow wild, often as the first flowers to bloom in spring. They’re edible too, so kids pick them and eat them. They’re also baby pink, not the darker reddish pink that Westerners are often familiar with. To “step on” the azaleas in this poem gives the impression of stepping on all the purity, innocence and happiness… an act of cruelty and indifference. The poem gives feeling of careless cruelty where the person who left doesn’t even care enough to have hate. Also fun fact, BTS were 1st Asian and non English act to sold out Wembley stadium, to this day only 12 artists sold out Wembley and they planned only 1 night, but the tickets sold out in 90 mins, so they added the 2nd night and they both sold out at the capacity of 60k people! It was back in 2019 😅 People flew all the way to Korea from around the world for this year's festa and for the hug event with Jin (yup our baby army Varnell, people fly to Korea to get the chance to hug them, not to mention the concerts 🤣)
@@priceless7833 If you search for a blog called muish's ramblings, you can find many such lyric breakdowns by a native speaker. Muish isn't active anymore but she used go do lyric translations for more difficult BTS songs and her grasp of both Korean and English is very good so she not only understands the original Korean context but she can also give English equivalents. I miss her. OP is quoting her explanation of Outro tear.
That’s amazing about the azaleas! Thank you! I learn something new about this song every time! First the azaleas, then the lotus flower…our Suga likes flower meanings!
-Yun - RM with Erykah Badu -Still life - RM feat Anderson Paak (I recommend listening with the lyrics, in an interview he talks about the meaning) -NEURON - Jhope feat Gaeko and Yoon Mirae -Agust D - Agust D -HUH?! - Agust D feat Jhope Hip Hop Phile and Silver Spoon/Baepsae (It could be a good introduction to the whole group)
Just to add few things:- RM used to be RAP MONSTER But later he changed it to REAL ME. WHEN BANGTAN WAS YOUNG THEY WERE VERY PASSIONATE (IN AN ANGRY WAY). THEY THIRSTED FOR RECOGNITION AND WORKED WAY TOO HARD TO ACHIEVE THAT. Eventually they achieved what they wanted and way too many more things. So the anger mellowed down. But the passion hardwork still remained the same RAP MONSTER basically grew up to be wiser and gentler and became REAL ME
You have to understand when they started young, (rap line) used to be underground rappers. A lot of people from the Hip Hop scenes used to criticise them, saying they wanted fame which is why they joined an Idol group. But rapline never left their roots so hate was just jealousy cuz they were getting more recognition. Cyphers were born out of those criticism and hate. They wanted to reply to those haters in their own words- hence Rapline RAPPED real hard!
Hater gonna say they " lost their roots" but personally, I believe they strengthen their roots even more after leaving and not being influenced by their shallow view of Hip hop anymore. BTS got to learn directly from the people who lives and breathes Hip hop, and it definitely open up their world forum that "small well" called Korea 😊
22:50 Dear Varnell, this Cypher pt 3 is soooo special, even more now. They sang it at their last concert (available in amazon prime video, Yet to Come in Busan). Let me give some context. Mililtary enlistment for men is mandatory in SK. For high achievers, they can wait until they are 30 (just BTS fulfill the criteria, the rest have to enlist up till they are 28). All these successful years, everyone was hanging that on their heads. Officials, politicians too, because in some cases (athletes and others) you can be granted an exemption. And being all BTS brings to the country in revenue, it would have been well deserved. So end of 2022, Jin (you'll see him soon) was almost turning 30... This one concert was held in a city (Busan) that had a pitch for World Expo in 2035, they asked BTS to bring the cause home. They did this massive concert, FREE, they made a big screen available near the venue for the ones that didn't win the raffle and were visiting. The city welcomed thousands of tourists... All costs were on BTS company, not the government even... They sang Cypher pt 3, in front of the officials that held the exemption carrot in front of them "you can control my shit!!"... the next day, they (BTS) announced they would be enlisting one by one shortly after. Nobody knew. Even the politicians complained loudly in interviews xD This song was a big F U to all of them present. Another thing to note. The oldest was born in 92, the youngest in 97... so the oldest had to enlist in 2022, but the youngest had time until 2027, BUT they love each other and their joint project so much, they all enlisted already, so they can be out (it's 18 months) as soon as possible, all together again. = June 2025 Sorry, long comment, do read, though xD
Who's gonna tell them that BTS sold out Wembley Stadium (90k seats) in 90 minutes?? 😏 Getting tickets to a BTS concert, ESPECIALLY when they come back in 2025, is like the Hunger Games. Also, just for some extra knowledge Varnell, when you go to a BTS concert be prepared to see people of ALL genders, colors, religions, and ages. They've got everyone from grannies to children attending. I took my (at the time) 7 year old son to a BTS concert in Chicago on Mothers Day and it was the best day he and I ever shared together. He was living his best life, and all the Army around us were so kind and helpful in making sure he could see the stage and dancing with him. Army is a community, not just a fanbase. True Army's are loving and kind and respectful of each other and everyone else; that is what BTS try to spread to the world and what Army enforces. Welcome Varnell...you can't deny it anymore 😉
38:52 BTS Rapline ARE shown to the US public. Suga was on Jimmy Fallon, and went on a huge US tour. jhope played Lollapalooza. RM did a whole shoot & interview for Rolling Stone with Pharrell. But the problem is, they’re never going to get the same respect because the xenophobia is still too prevalent. And also the prejudice of them being in KPop. It’s literally one of the biggest frustrations of being ARMY; knowing how good they are, but seeing lesser artists win the awards.
Preach! I can't even talk to my hubby about how good they are, he is way too prejudiced, and I've been an ARMY for 4 years. First thing everyone says: "Ah, the boy band!" And it shuts down any discussion effectively. And I sure as hell, not going to shove my musical choices down someone's throat 😂 it's their personal choice to miss out on greatness 😜
Its heartbreaking to see the reviews for Namjoon's latest albums and knowing he will get zero public awards for it. Billboard still calling it a kpop album is just mindblowing to me.
It’s so funny that at the start he asks “why they call it a bias” and then only a few minutes later says with his whole chest “rm can do no wrong.” lol, that’s why it’s a bias varnell 💜
I think what was heartbreaking about Outro: Tear was that the members didnt reveal about their hardships until Jin initiated and talked about it when they received an award during the 2018/2019 end of year awards show. We knew they had the right to never even mention something so personal to them but they decided to do so when they've moved on and were in a better place physically and mentally. But then it fit like pieces of a puzzle cause tear was released may 2018 and there were contents where we do see the sadness in their faces which made sense. Im glad they were able to release these songs as part of their reflection on their life. Also to Varnell, im sure you've heard this but "Denial is a river in Egypt" 😂 Btw i'm from Singapore and flew to London for their Wembley concert
More rapline songs Joke -Rm 1verse -jhope Intro persona-Rm suga's first and third album(d2 and dday) Jhopes first mixtape and second album (hopd world and hope on the street) Rm's mixtape and first album(mono and indigo) Trivia love -Rm Trivia dance -jhope Trivia seesaw -suga Interlude shadow-yoongi Respect -suga and rm Her -all three of them First love -suga What am i to you-rm
For the rap line second part, I suggest from Map of the Soul: 7 album, the rap line trilogy: 1. RM’s Intro: Persona 2. SUGA’s Interlude: Shadow 3. j-hope’s Outro: Ego
That number one podcast… I’m not saying his name here, but he came for BTS several times, and even slated J Cole for his collab with jhope. Keep recording the pod, and we’ll make YOURS number one instead. You deserve that crown 👑
The potential disbandment in 2018... they were all just completely exhausted... all they wanted was a day off, but dance practices/rehearsals/recording/shows/touring... there literally was no space to rest. People who hadn't followed them from debut wouldn't have understood that the members had been doing this since 2011 with very little sleep and no breaks. Thankfully they learnt to make some changes with their new contracts and put themselves first. Yoongi has a show called Suchwita, all of the members have appeared on episodes of it... along with other Korean artists... on Taehyungs episode, he and Yoongi speak in depth about 2018 and what made him and JK change their minds and keep going. You guys would love the show, it shows the personalities of each member and how different they are in musical tastes...
Yeah exactly, it'd be great to watch even on their own time for little insights or just fun. Thanks for commenting this, some of this context gets lost on people who werent there
@@nj.7325 Thanks.... I don't like when people assume it was a conflict between the members when in reality the 'conflict' was with management regarding their schedule that set the issue off... I think it's important as you said, to inform those who may not know - BTS and Army have their share of inaccurate reporting already💜
@@JoSedunaryEven if there was conflict between them, they most likely worked through it quickly. As is shown in the burn the stage series when they have an issue they deal with it quickly. together. it's clear when they do talk about this time the issue was never problems w/in the group but everything they had to deal with as a group having no one but themselves to figure things out.
I think this was the time that they only had 1/2 day off a month for 6 months or so? Poor guys, they worked/work so hard. I remember also initially thinking that Tear was about a couple break-up but now knowing it was Suga bringing the track to them when they were talking about breaking up....whole new meaning to the song.
With how often he called them *Dope* I think that should be one of his first OT7 songs Also the *"Welcome, is this your first time with Bangtan?"* part would fit so well!
One thing worth mentioning is that J-Hope learned how to rap only after he became a trainee at their label (before BTS was complete) with help from RM and Suga but still was able ro find his style. Wich is really shown by his evolution along cyphers 1 to 4 and obviously his following solo albums
48:16 no beef none not at all. They absolutely love each other. They are very few brotherhoods like BTS have, but there was a lot of pressure that’s not gotten any better they’ve just figured out how to handle it better. They blew up hard. They went from being a small group from Korea, mostly unknown from an almost bankrupt company to global superstars, and while they had been building to that, it wasn’t overnight like people seem to think in the US it was also massive and sudden in the same breath so the pressure got to them for a little bit and they debated whether or not it was worth it to continue or did they need to stop. As you can tell from them still being them and all their solo work that came afterwards they are still together still making music still kicking ass and have figured out how to balance
Oh they don't know family and brotherhood and bonding like our guys do. It's hard to see that love and respect in this day and age, and that was one of the MAJOR things that got me into them because fuck their bond is beautiful. Protect them at all costs god💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yeah! It was the pressure, and it was also the exhaustion. 6am to 6am (irregular sleep) 360 days a year, touring AND making music AND intervies AND dance practice, it was too much. They talk about how it pushed them to consider disbanding many times, the tae ep in suchwita is a great one ^^. While the pressure was scary, it was the workload that nearly did them in, and I'm so glad they decided to take breaks and go sustainable.
The main motive for the disbandment thoughts was the exhaustion and the immense pressure put on them. They were a small group and suddenly they rise up and were receiving honor medals and being the proud of South Korea. Yoongi (SUGA) even told us that he cried in the shower after the first time they performed at the Billboard Awards because he felt so much pressure. And on top of that, they wouldn't have breaks, they were too busy and exhausted, so it started to affect their mental health. And as they like to tell, when one member is going through something bad, all of them follow because they suffer to see each other suffer. In their book, they tell how they just fell into a slump all together, but they got better by working on music and taking care of each other and their mental health.
Varnell, SUGA is an NBA ambassador! You've got to watch his segment on Fallon where they briefly discuss it. Sleep, I love both Cypher 3 and Cypher 4. I like the way they performed Cypher 3 at the concert in Busan. There was a big controversy in South Korea about if BTS should qualify for military exemption, which was usually for award-winning athletes & classical musicians. They performed Cypher 3 with the lyrics, "...I don't care. You can't control my shit.", (directed to the government!) and a few days later Big Hit announced BTS would enlist in the military. The guys themselves made the decision to end the country's discussion and enlist. I really enjoy your friendship and Varnell's reactions! You are too cute, Varnell! And I really like the educational parts of the videos!
I think that Varnell needs to know that the correct term for him now is Baby Army. And to answer your question about the way their concerts work, like Sleep said, they have a huge catalogue and they dance so hard on stage. So to stagger breaks throughout the show, they do songs individually, or rap line then vocal line, or sometimes in duos. Sometimes all seven of them will perform someone's solo song to change things up. That's why there are no opening acts at a BTS show. It's just them performing in various configurations for 2+ hours.
I-ARMY here!! BANGTAN Forever!!! We live in NY so my 2 teenage daughters and I went to LA - SoFi Stadium Nov 2021 to see BTS!! With our ARMY BOMBS! It was incredible. I-ARMY are so generous giving photocards and freebies. Seeing our boys - being in the same airspace was amazing. Meaghan Thee Stallion performed on our night , BORAHAE y'all
I’ve traveled from Sweden to US (LA, LV and NY) 3 separate times to see BTS and Yoongi solo in concert. No regrets. I’d travel the world to see them live for a lifetime.
My fave Cypher is Pt 3 Killer... and btw, that live performance of the Cypher medley you watched, the DJ wasn't just an ordinary DJ, that was Supreme Boi, and he's produced a number of their songs, as well as being on Cypher Pt. 3... he tends to be behind the scenes, but in that performance, he joined them onstage. As far as BTS concerts go, I only ever watched them once in Singapore, when they sold out our National Stadium in just 4 hours! I actually couldn't get a ticket to go see them, but later on, I asked around online and one ARMY said her Mum was supposed to go with her, but got sick and now she's looking to sell her ticket at the same price she bought it at, and she offered it to me. I remember this very well, 'cos I just got discharged from the hospital after having day surgery and being kept overnight for observation, and the very next day, I went to this BTS concert. It was good that it was a seated ticket, 'cos I might not have survived a standing ticket, seeing as how BTS concerts easily last 2-3 hours long. It was an experience I'll never forget. The concert date was 19 Jan 2019, just before the covid pandemic hit Singapore about a year later. After that, all I watched were their online concerts, 'cos covid didn't allow for live concerts, and when they could perform live in the USA and in Korea later on, it was too far for me to travel, since I live in Singapore. After that, they were due for military service, so they started doing more solo work, and we probably won't get another BTS concert till they return in 2025. But I'm sure when the next concert tour happens, it will all get sold out in minutes... I'm not that fast with my fingers, so with my luck and abilities, I will probably not get a ticket in time again. Still, at least I've seen them once, and I'll be alright with that too.
I love the line *"You're my fear"* cause it can mean so many things like: I'm scared of you, I'm scared for you, you're so important to me that suddenly I have something to lose, you make me fear myself cause I can see my own issues in you etc.
18:34 this cypher was after the podcast incident where suga and rm were pretty much attacked from “straying” from the underground rap scene to become idols. why i think jhopes beat is different, it’s to differentiate their roles in this song. like jhope is the mc and he’s introducing rm and suga (the targeted underground rappers) to rap and clap back at them. i hope this makes sense lol
The podcast was brutal. They questioned RM and Suga’s masculinity for becoming idols wearing makeup and costumes, which is just so narrow minded on so many levels. PD Bang even went the company of the podcast to try to get an apology but the cowards wouldn’t meet him. The biggest offender was a real asshat who has been rightfully put in his place in the industry since them. If you want to get a good idea of their discography then listen to Proof, their anthology, in order. The members chose the songs to include and added some new ones.
Hearing their songs and see the traductions is a first thing : you understand they are good, they are passionate and really talented. They are definitly good artists BUT when you start whatching them in concerts and in mv... here start the army conversion AND when you start knowing their stories, watching their documentaries, the interviews, the bangtan bombs and the reality shows... here start the obsession BTS are multi talented, they are really good musicians of course but they are global pop stars with an strong ARMY fanbase because they are so much more. Their MV are always perfects, addictive and you can't take your eyes off the screen. It's the same for the concerts video (I saw you Varnell not blink during the medley). They also are really smart and good guys, they are real with people and fans, they are not afraid to show their weaknesses, to speak about their sad moments and happy moments. In 2018 they spoke about disband because of the pressure they had of becoming too big... But they are means to be big because nobody do what they are doing. They always try to be better person, working hard to understand the world and speaking about things everyone in the world can related. They also are so humble. In an interview RM said there is 100% of success, they give 50% to the armies, 15% to the company and 5% each of them and the fact that they consider themselve just 5% is so relatable and everythings they do because they don't take their success for granted. It's been years since USA is controlling the global music industry and it's not bad music but there is also so many good talents everywhere in the world and they are not global because of language barrier but BTS is making history I tell you. They are proving that if we want to we can break down the borders. "Music is an universal language" is so true. BTS is trusting the army and armies are trusting them.
The newer lightsticks look even cooler now that they change colors. At the concerts, you assign yours to your seat number in the app and they are able to create really cool rainbow effects, write out words, create moving symbols, etc. using the whole crowd. The audience basically becomes one big LED screen.
20:43 the amazing thing for me about rm that he does better than anyone is he does that in two languages. He’ll use whatever works whether in English or Korean. It’s like he has double the vocabulary if everyone else to rhyme with because he’s so linguisticly fluid.
Love this! I think one of the best things about rapline is they rap like a team, not just three rappers doing their bit. Like Cypher 4 is so satisfying because RM and jhope start off with measured, paced rap flows that build tension and then suga just comes in crazy to release it and it's SO good. They built that Cypher together so beautifully. Cypher 4 enthusiasts assemble!
To answer Varnell's question : it was not for a BTS concert exactly but for the D Day tour (Suga solo tour !) I traveled all the way from france to indonesia just for that - best experience of my life
@@liliputjo3951 and that was my first time traveling alone too; with just my anxiety, no survival instinct and a shooky with me lmao - 100% recommend if you have the opportunity to travel for a concert though, it's so fun
Thank you for this series! I feel like I’m re-living my fall down the rabbithole! I would love to see Varnell’s reaction to Agust D’s Daechwita/Haegeum/Amygdala MV trilogy as well as the live performances from the D-day concerts, Hobi’s lollapalooza set and NJ’s live recorded Indigo performances!
varnell, honey, Suga doesn’t stop to take a breather, he purposely stops to prove to the haters that he is not lip syncing. And after ten years of proving to the haters that they are liars, he STILL throws in the proof. This series is so funny… Varnell is trying hard, but fooling no one- he IS head first down the rabbit hole! But ARMY is here to catch you, and break your fall. My vote for a Suga song is Snooze! RM- Joke, Jhope- the 3 song medley from Lollapolooza- Baseline/cypher1/Hangsang. He HAS to see that!💜💜💜💜💜🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻🫶🏻
55:13 A really good take that I read once about the lyric "the dream has finally became a dream", is how for so long they were dreaming and had hope on their team and their career. But at the time they wrote this song, their dream was only that, a dream, unachievable.
Just gonna put a request for Outro: Her, because I think it's one of the rap line songs that don't get promoted as much. Looking forward to future videos and enjoying the podcast so far. Thanks 👍💜
Sitting here with the memories of first finding BTS and jealously that you are getting to experience it. It was the best time ever. Ive got goosebumps.
Sleep and Varnell, thank you for the great video again! If you ask me how many miles I have travelled to see BTS live (concerts or other performances), I would probably need an excel table for it. Since 2016, I've been to 48 shows to watch BTS (42 being concerts and the rest are like iHeart, AMA, KCON, etc). When I was living in the US (NC), I flew to Seoul, Osaka, Macau, LA, Anaheim, Newark to see them, and when I moved back to Hong Kong, I flew to the US (multiple cities), Tokyo, Yokohama, Taiwan, Wembley, Seoul, Busan to see them. If I can get tickets for any show, I will go. I've taken a one-month no pay leave from work to follow their tour. The one thing that you will see when anyone attends a BTS concert, is to realize how genuinely global their fanbase is. A BTS concert is the "only one place" on earth that there is no segregation of any kind, race, age, gender, sexuality, disability..... When I was waiting in line in NY UBS Arena for Suga D-Day concert, two venue staff was casually chatting next to me, one big black male supervising staff was telling the Latino female staff something like this "I don't know who this guy is, but all day I've seen these people smiling being so happy lining up for stuff, they may all have their own problems or issues or stories at home, but for today they are so happy!", and the lady responded she saw fans from all different parts of world and they were exchanging nationalities of fans they heard... I couldn't control myself and butt in and told them I just flew 17 hour straight from Hong Kong and got there last night for this, and I will fly back out right after the concert. To anyone who still thinks BTS is a phrase, or there will be a "next" BTS, that's not even wishful thinking, just plain delusion. Those of us who can frequently go, and you will see us on every pits, are adults with resources to do so, not the teenagers fangirling in the phrase of growing up, and will ditch them when adulthood or relationship(s) begin. You can count us as those old white folks that follow KISS or Springsteen tour, just that we're younger and have many more years to go. As long as BTS will tour, we will be there! (*side note: I'm one of the very few minority that am not too fond of the emotional soundboard... I think it may interrupts the flow of the conversation or stop Varnell's line of thoughts, but I can see the appeal in entertaining the audience. just my $0.2 you can ignore! PEACE!!! )
Varnell, maybe someone already said this, but the English translations don't do the lyrics justice because in Korean they're filled to the brim with clever wordplay, innuendo and soooo many layers. 💜
We don’t speak of that trauma - the purple man or purple bar in the waiting room , and then always “someone else got the tickets” before me. It’s absolutely anxiety/panic attack mode. If I got a ticket then it’s like I won the lottery and felt guilty toward my armys friends.
for part2 you could check out: Rapline: Outro:HER , Paldogangsan (Satoori Rap), RM: Change (RM ft.Wale), Always, Do you, Joke Suga: First love, The last, Intro:never mind JHope:outro EGO, Just Dance, 1Verse
Travelled from Sweden to South Korea for their last concert before the enlistment. Worth the trip, worth all the money, this experience is just invaluable. Absolutely the best days of my life.
I flew solo to LA from UK (first time ever in the US) just to watch their Sofi concert for two nights. Best nights of my life! Met so many amazing ARMY and didn’t feel like I was alone for a minute. Best community 💜
Should I bring the emotional support soundbard back for Pt. 2?
Essential from now on, sir! 😁
Yes 🔥
Yes sir! Cuts the denial bs from Varnell instantly 😂😂😂
That and the conversion meter are now standard practice.
Yes!! It's the official sidekick. 😎
"Suga got me ITCHIN!" -varnell
As a 66 year young widow (of Mexican descent), Suga, after Agust D, became my open BIAS!!!!!!!
Be proud of your bias once you pick one!!! 💜
bias wrecker alert 😂
and we love that 😺✋🤚
I know this is not really within the scope of what you've been doing so far, but this sort of reaction is exactly what has me _dying_ to experience Varnell experiencing one of the D-Day concerts
yes
He's not a fan, but almost cries when he found out about them almost breaking up.
Sleep said "the first song is called "Ddaeng" and all of ARMY went "YESSSSS!!!!!"

Until now tho@@nj.7325the hate still and drag them everywhere they only rely on us ARMY❤
Thanks for the St. Louis shout out Varnell, that be my home town I have been to 2 shows, was ready for 2019 when pandemic destroyed everything, then was suppose to be at 1 of the Sofi concerts but night b4 had to cancel flight dad was fighting several deadly diseases and I was the only one to take care of him, but last concert I went to Chicago May 12th 2019 was the best night, rained entire concert, but we had so much fun with the boys, they always say that is their most memorable concert the boys all love Chicago even RM said it's the city he'd want to live in
Thanks again for another fun night watching Varnell try denying the love - when will he learn once you find BTS and ARMY we hold on tight and you can't get away the love is to great💜💪🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼
Part of it is more practicle:
Their contract with Big Hit was about to run out and the question was if they wanted to renew.
"If they would have broke up what would I have done?" That sentiment is felt by every ARMY Varnell. You definitely belong here!
Varnell doesn't even want to accept how far along he is alreay 😂
Also pro tip: Don't fully trust the lyrics on lyrics videos, they're usually done by auto translators that miss some things or are even incorrect at some points and even color code the members wrong at times (first verse for example wasn't Suga but j-hope). The lyrics videos done by DIAL 6137, which you used for Cypher 4 & Ugh are based on the translations by doolset bangtan so those ones are the most accurate.
It is a MUST!!

Oh man.. Also one of the native Korean speakers broke down the lyrics and her attention was caught by Suga's part "There is no such thing as a beautiful farewell, So please start now Woo take it easy, cut out the heart slowly Yes yes, Over the cut pieces, step on them Regrets, regrets, so that I would not have any such remaining Tear into pieces and burn my heart to a crisp"
She said and I quote "The terms he used for “step on” is an old Korean word and is not used in normal speech in modern-day.
It was back in 2019 😅 People flew all the way to Korea from around the world for this year's festa and for the hug event with Jin (yup our baby army Varnell, people fly to Korea to get the chance to hug them, not to mention the concerts 🤣)
i am loving this comments section. thank you for the beautiful break down on tear lyrics!

Hip Hop Phile and Silver Spoon/Baepsae (It could be a good introduction to the whole group)
Just to add few things:-
RM used to be RAP MONSTER
But later he changed it to REAL ME.
But the passion hardwork still remained the same
RAP MONSTER basically grew up to be wiser and gentler and became REAL ME
You have to understand when they started young, (rap line) used to be underground rappers.
"What can I say when its RM you know.. he could do no wrong." Lmaoo spoken like a true army. 😂
Varnell gonna be owning an army bomb and namjoon photocards and would still be denying he army. Lmao.

Being in a BTS concert is like a dream, ... and a Agust D concert is like fire itself
22:50
Dear Varnell, this Cypher pt 3 is soooo special, even more now.
Even the politicians complained loudly in interviews xD
This song was a big F U to all of them present.
= June 2025
Sorry, long comment, do read, though xD
“You CAN’T control my shit”
A mic drop moment 🎤
RM also said it was the last time they would perform Cypher 3 live (at the Busan concert)

For their LA shows, SoFi reported that people came from approx 80 different countries for the concert
Factsssss
Jimmy Fallon.

"They got the culture in them bro" YES Varnall sir!!!
Also to Varnell, im sure you've heard this but "Denial is a river in Egypt" 😂

@@nj.7325 Thanks.... I don't like when people assume it was a conflict between the members when in reality the 'conflict' was with management regarding their schedule that set the issue off...

DDAENG TO START? bros not going easy on varnell
In their book, they tell how they just fell into a slump all together, but they got better by working on music and taking care of each other and their mental health.
this. thanks for typing it out.

Suga's AgustD DDay concert yeilded the highest revenue for any rapper in the US in 2023.
Yesss
I love the line *"You're my fear"* cause it can mean so many things like:
I'm scared of you, I'm scared for you,
you're so important to me that suddenly I have something to lose,
you make me fear myself cause I can see my own issues in you etc.
They are definitly good artists
BUT when you start whatching them in concerts and in mv... here start the army conversion
AND when you start knowing their stories, watching their documentaries, the interviews, the bangtan bombs and the reality shows... here start the obsession
BTS are multi talented, they are really good musicians of course but they are global pop stars with an strong ARMY fanbase because they are so much more.
Two languages? I've caught him a couple of times using French too!!!!!
@@L.Sunday16and at least once in German (Whalien 52)
@@erindodich5362 Wow! thank you for telling us.
RM- Joke, Change, Wildflower
J-Hope- 1VERSE, Ego, Hangsang
Suga- The last, Agust D, Nevermind
Everyone’s fave seems to be 3, but 4 really gets me crazy! I love it
The way RM eats is insane
When you are ready for it, you have to do The Busan Concert Rapline segment
Its their last presentations and most recent
He is reading lyrics and already has a bias he is speedrunning the ARMY conversion.
To answer Varnell's question : it was not for a BTS concert exactly but for the D Day tour (Suga solo tour !) I traveled all the way from france to indonesia just for that - best experience of my life
Wow indonesia - france
@@liliputjo3951 and that was my first time traveling alone too; with just my anxiety, no survival instinct and a shooky with me lmao - 100% recommend if you have the opportunity to travel for a concert though, it's so fun
You need to tell him that getting tickets is the hunger games 😂
RM uses to mean Rap Monster but now stands for Real Me
Thank you for this series!
I have been waiting so long for this. The cyphers man. RAP LINE SUPREMACY
3 headed monster is the perfect name.
Man Cerberus would go hard as their nickname. Cerberus is the three headed dog from the Greek Underworld
Varnell and Jin need to have a dad joke contest.
I was thinking the same.
varnell, honey, Suga doesn’t stop to take a breather, he purposely stops to prove to the haters that he is not lip syncing.
You're so right! I see myself falling in 💜 with the rap line of BTS and BTS all over again!
Those rabbit hole days are truly the best. I miss it all so much🥹
Whole reason I watch "1st time " reactions.....living vicariously through them AGAIN with BTS! 💜
Rapline songs for part 2:
Intro : Skool luv affair
Outro : Her
oh my god pleasseeeee i need them to react to outro:her
Also dkdktv Ugh explained by a Korean and

I'm ready to see Varnell having the moment of his life at a bts concert
You got to be lyric mafia to be ARMY. It's prerequisite
“When y’all go to a BTS concert…”
*laughs in poverty and desperation*
Getting those tickets is traaaaaumaaaa
We don’t speak of that trauma - the purple man or purple bar in the waiting room , and then always “someone else got the tickets” before me. It’s absolutely anxiety/panic attack mode. If I got a ticket then it’s like I won the lottery and felt guilty toward my armys friends.
Born singer, intro: persona, outro: ego, interlude: shadow, respect
for part2 you could check out:
Rapline: Outro:HER , Paldogangsan (Satoori Rap),
RM: Change (RM ft.Wale), Always, Do you, Joke
Suga: First love, The last, Intro:never mind
JHope:outro EGO, Just Dance, 1Verse
11:08 “The rap line is a problem”
Whooooo boy, you’re telling me!
Travelled from Sweden to South Korea for their last concert before the enlistment. Worth the trip, worth all the money, this experience is just invaluable. Absolutely the best days of my life.
For the rap line songs you wanted, here’s my picks!
YESSS
And jhopes chicken noodle soup and champion fallout boy featuring RM!!! Love them!!!
Part two - hip hop lover 🙏 it’s all 7 but it’s hip hop gold!
Love you guys 💜
I have been to six concerts. There is NOTHING like it.
I flew solo to LA from UK (first time ever in the US) just to watch their Sofi concert for two nights. Best nights of my life! Met so many amazing ARMY and didn’t feel like I was alone for a minute. Best community 💜
