very nice gameplay
Diffferenciated to go pharaon and rightfull money for working time SBD fairplay related to sports
She explains this so well!! Even a complete beginner like me can understand easily :))
Wow so cool... usually go instructionals are so long it is almost imposible to go through them in one sitting. This format is good because it has enough depth and is short enough to move on to other things.
The example with the 8 stones to show best place to play is perfect!
my left ear is grateful
I mean at least the intro/outro music was stereo, right? :D
I thought my set up was broken, great video none the less!
in Windows 10.. Settings -> Ease of Access -> Audio -> and there you can enable Mono
was gonna say the same
@@rcookie5128 that otro hit me hard.. I was like where is this sound coming from on my right.. Lol
I've been trying to learn Go for days now and this channel is the best I've found. You get a ton of information delivered super professionally and explained. Thank you!
Yugioh also. Try it. The best intelligence increasing game ever. Then comes Go. Then comes Civilization or Chess, I dunno. Probably Civilization though
This makes so much more sense. I'm a chess player for a quarter century. Go seemed confusing til I watched this video.
Yeah I have a lot of trouble now switching from Go to Chess myself lol. I just see stones instead of pieces sometimes
@@aidang20633 tryng to learn go I se peaces instead of stones after years of chess
These videos will live on forever. Thank you.
They indeed do!
Audio only comes out of one channel and I still learned twice as much by watching this video as I have with any other tutorial. Thank you!
The sound effect jumping in at 9:30 made me jump. HA! I loved this tutorial. Thanks for making a great vid!
would be awesome to see a part 2 on general Opening theory!
Did this ever come to be?
Crystal clear explanations, this is a treasure, thank you so much for time and effort to make this video!
Excellent Teaching! Please, continue creating videos, your teachings are easy to follow and provide great insight to perhaps the greatest game ever invented.
I watched the Glory and wanted to learn about go. This was great but I have so many questions. Thank you for this!
Okay so that tip toward the end about knowing how far to extend based on the number of stones in a line, was the most indispensable pieces of very basic Go knowledge that has been missing for me this whole time. The main thing I struggle with playing the game is a sense of dimension and knowing what you can get away with. That tip slotted everything into place.
Wow didn’t think it’s very important and crucial when you start a game these beginners lessons are great for people like me who want to learn
Just learning Go and just found this video. I do appreciate you fully explaining these terms in 100% English. Other videos like to explain things in English and throw in the more than occasional Japanese word, which really irks me. I want to learn Go, not learn Japanese. It is ok to have to learn the occasional Japanese term, but it is often a lot more than necessary.
Thank you Stephanie Yin for such a clear and concise explanation.
This is the most useful baduk/go beginner video ive seen for opening placement :O thank you
Excellent. knowing and knowing how to teach are 2 different things, you know how to teach.
Wow i needed that. I did not know how to actually start the game after learning. The basic rules this morning. Now itself clear in my mind. Thank you.
I am brand new to the game, and have found this channel EASY to understand. I read the included game instructions and it was difficult to understand...this is WAY Better! ~ Thank You ~
Stephanie is my hero.
"The ultimate goal is to win as much territory as we can." That is wrong. The goal is to win more territory than your opponent. Don't get greedy!
Aside of that unluck wording this is an excellent video. Ty.
True, AlphaGo only ever went for +1 points on Lee Sidol
if you want to beat opponents even with a handicap, you need to be able get as much territory as possible.
@@rumfordc but still more than your opponent
@@setonix9151 that depends on the komi
She dropped that one piece and kept going like a boss din even flinch
I just recently got intereted into getting into the game of go. This lovely video was the first to get recommended to me which I am thankful for. This was explained to me crystal clear and good instructions. Thanks for the lesson.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm using it to help refresh my memory before I go into a tournament in Gotham New York on the 26th of March.
How did it go? :D
Thank you, my first lesson in the Go game, very well explained. 🔥🔥
Very nicely explained! I am just starting to play Go with my son who is 28 years old. For both of us, this is totally new. we are eager to learn the moves, the strategies and the points. Thanks!
This great I was starting games with great trepidation. thank you for this!
THANK YOU! Best Go instructor I can imagine :))
I love your work with these videos, from italy
she is the best online go teacher. i wish they had a patreon channel
wow great just saw they have a subscription service!
I only knew the very basics of Go, and wished to know more, having just obtained a decent board/stones. These videos serve as an excellent refresher course, and I look forward to learning more. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for taking the time to create this video
my left ear loves this video.
thank you very much, your explanation are very clear ! merci beaucoup
Wow this is gonna help my game so much. Thank you Stephanie and NYIG
Very good explanation Ms. Yin. You have great Go skills, but also have great teaching qualities; thank you!
Thank you. Relative to Go's skill ceiling i'm still pretty new and it's nice to have a concise explanation of good opening moves with context as to WHY they are good.
Fun fact: When I play chess with my friends, we've also developed a piece that moves like the 'large knight'. The naming was difficult, but in the end we called it the shieldbearer
It's called a giraffe
i am so glad i found this channel, this is exactly what i was looking for.
thank you so much for your teaching 🙏🏼
My left ear really enjoyed this video.
Very logical (and smart?). Thanks.
my right ear is so lonely
You are such a clear teacher!
Thank you very much!! Very clear, strait to the point!
Very helpful in understanding the board. Thank you!
My left ear loved this
lmao
thanks a lot for these videos.finally i found somebody who really answers the questions i have as a biginner. Pls keep this work up. i just discovered your channel and i am subscribing right away.
thank you so much.......so clear :))))) i love your video
There's a lot of useful info here. Though I know the point of the video is apparently brevity, it would be nice to know why some of these ideas work instead of just the rigidity of right/wrong. For example, why can you do a 5 space extension if you blocked a kick and have 2 connected stones? What happens if the opponent comes into the middle? How do you respond to it?
^ fix for my comment -- I meant 3 space extension, not 5.
As far as i know three space extension is the best thing one can do bc if u put a stone in the middle of it u can start creating two eyes which allows you to make an immortal group
Learned so much in this video than some of the books I read
Love this video, its a perfect explanation!
Thank you these videos have helped make me better understand the game
Thank you very much i learned alot!
Thank you. Do you have any instructional videos about how to apply Joseki? I have studied Joseki in terms of local corners, but it would be nice to have a demonstration on how the moves are applied to the entire opening and board, and the philosophy behind the moves.
Thank you so much for your support of our channel. Here is our playlist regarding joseki strategies ruclips.net/p/PLoZIU5jkY_Y_Gfok4TDuCv6sO9pU_j2bQ
This was pretty good explanation.
Thank you very much. I just started to play this game. So far I enjoy it a great deal.
Thanks for this. I always struggle with opening
Love the vids, great job. 👍🌟 Thanks 😁
I love go
I'm too "beginner" for this video, but I gained a few concepts, particularly which part of the board to start and why.
really helpful, thank you!
Very helpful!
I'm started to learn go game.
thanks. good explain.
*Good explanation :) or: Well explained.
Well planned explanation! Thank you
Thank you for the lesson!
My left ear really liked this
Really well done video, I learned so much!
Thanks for the strat explanations
She explains well the tactics
Very good information!
Thanks Shibumi
Excellent video, the presentation style is very good.
I actually learned a lot! thanks!
Use mono audio in accessibility settings to hear in both sound
GREAT VIDEO! Thanks
So incredibly helpful!
Thanks for some very helpful ideas. :) I'm wondering how/if your choice between enclosing a corner or going for a side or attacking opponent's territory depends on how your opponent has placed their first stones, or if it is independent of your opponent's choices at this early stage.
Very well explained
Can anyone tell us where to purchase a magnetic wall go board like the one been used in the video? Thanks in advance.
I like your videos very much.
Right at marker 3:01, she says "you have a 2-3-4 point". What does that mean? I was with her up to that point (no pun intended). You only have horizontal and vertical coordinates, so why does she say 2-3-4?
NYIG_Go: No audio plays in the lesson section. The intro music plays just fine, but there is no audio on the instructor. I feel I'm missing some interesting information here. Will you, please, check it out. Thanks.
me too
@@Areorn Hmmm. Wonder if the device's operating system matters? I just tried playing the video on my phone (android 11) and it works just fine. But for some reason the audio problem occurs on my other android device (android 9). What system do you use? Thanks.
@@mtaur100 I use a PC, I have headphones where 1 ear is broken
@@Areorn Ok. Interesting. Thanks.
Wonderful!
where can i find a vertical magnetic board like this?
Don't you mean anything BELOW the 5th line is called center? Around timestamp 1:18
Excellent explanation! (say that 3x, quickly) :-) Btw, I like your accent... :-)
Great lesson
Very good, I have learned a lot from listening you're way of thinking. Thank you!
my left ear likes stephanie's voice
With The 3 stones at the end could you make a large extension on the 4th line to play in the center of 3 stones? Or is it more important to establish 3rd line in our opponents side of the board still?
space is relative. Is there Takemiya analysis video? Every video says he won because of the grate structures. I think he won cos the enemy attacked that struckture. He lost some times when the enemy dont attacked the structure.
great videos!
She is a master in go? I mean officially?
Old comment, but yes, Stephanie Yin is a 1p (1 dan professional) rank; any dan level is considered a master. She is also the founder and president of New York Institute of Go (NYIG), which this RUclips channel belongs to.
There is something wrong with the audio after the intro.
Can you show the correct way to defend with the 2 and 3 stone extension with the jumps
Great video lol thanks!
The questiom is: what move shode i make?
the answer is: I should be gratefulful to hear the answer
i should clarify, go i so incredibly dense that the game is designed around terminology that is "obvius" to outsiders
after leaning this game for a week "which is alot for most people, please give yousrself a chance to learn more about he game
