  • It was nice to see other's comments and RUclipsr SWL confirm that the 75m band is a bit hinky on the Qodosen SR-286. I stumbled upon this problem in my SR-286 Goes Skiing video (link below). So it got me thinking: what about the Belka. I started looking on LW for navigational beacons and then I found three MW stations coming through at multiple frequencies.
Technical bits: I recorded the MW stations on the 286 and the location audio with the GoPro, but I feed the Belka audio through the bhi DNR box to the Zoom H4N Pro audio recorder. I mixed them in post. I was using a PAR EF-SWL antenna fed directly into the Belka.

I am not the HF expert. But interested in the LW beacon though.

I still want to check the impact of good antenna grounding for picking up the navi beacons. And I could while away some time on a road show logging the beacons in AB I can't get from here. Lots to explore ;) Blog or Die put out some trials on navi beacons and grounding, using his PL-990 (which can use the ext ant for MW/LW).

@@RSears .. I tried the 320 kHz beacon. Nothing, just way too much noise here.

That's frustrating. QRM is bad ;)
