I’ve tried reproducing this setup, but instead of applying the image and trying to bcdboot it, I instead attempted to run it as though it was a boot.wim image. It would load for a little bit, then crash (I could tell because the VM would jump to 100% CPU usage). After adding the Boot folder and bootstr.dll, I got the BSOD to render, revealing an IO1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED error. I also tried applying it following the steps from the post, and I only got the sudden shutdown effect once. Every other attempt it BSOD’d with CRITICAL_SERVICE_FAILED. I wonder what I might’ve done different… Instead of Hyper-V, I attempted in Virtualbox and QEMU/KVM. I don't think I ever saw the boot animation fade out though.

I'm currently using Windows 10, but I might daily drive BootOS. No bloatware, minimal and fast: the perfect OS.
