So glad to hear how good this is! I always love well written horror and as an aspiring writer I always love studying movies like this and Invisible Man and Upgrade. I would for him to do Deadman but he can’t do Constantine yet! I gotta write my script for a Constantine animated HBO show first!
@@CoyJandreauDo you know something!? Are they working on Constantine?! How. Much time do I have!? First I have to work on my comic book “Quest”! I want to make it a digital comic with original music that me and my friend will make based on bands like Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, and Beck (and some others). Trying to finish the script for the first five issues by summer so I hope one day I’ll get to hear you talk about it!
the Wolf Man is absolutely my favorite movie monster and I will admit I am concerned with how this will look.Very confident in the direction and especially the performances. I expect to enjoy the movie. But I suppose I am very specific in what I want to see with a wolf man. Like Coy, Benicio Del Toro's wolf man is my favorite visual. That, to me, the perfect looking wolf man. I often watch the scene where he transforms at the sanitarium - fantastic sequence. I know this is going to look different - I'm trying to prepare myself for that. I will see it this weekend and I can't wait! This review confirms for me that I will probably really enjoy it...even if maybe not the look of the monster...?
What a review, Coy! You aced it. This is my first time watching your video and I admire your passion and genuineness. You never sugarcoat the film's flaws and you are a pro at praising films and filmmakers when they've earned it. I am excited to see this film and I believe I will connect with Christopher's character and family just as you did. Early congratulations when you are at 50k subscribers 👏 you've earned it! 😇
I loved the movie, Coy, but i am a huge werewolf fan. I'm always up for a different takeo on the genre and what i really liked was seeing the transformation from the monsters' point of view. Never seen that before. Some people i think wanted the usual werewolf design but Whannell, who's work i love, gave us a something new. Giving us a strong look into the family dynamic made the tragedy of what happened in the wood even more powerful. You have a better understanding of the movie than a lot of the other reviewers ive encountered. I love Dog Soldiers, HOWL, Genger Snaps, Late Phases as well. Also a big fan of Upgrade, which surprised me. Anyhow, liked your review of Wolf Man.
What are the people smoking!? Please pass it... this was not a bad Movie! Just saw it 1 hour ago and it was a great time. It kept my interest and It kept me wanting to know what was gonna happen next. Thumbs Up here
I'm going to see it Sunday and I was not looking forward to it until you broke it down. I had a feeling I'd appreciate the transformation bc I like that style of special effects. Thank you for the review.
Hey Coy, looks like you enjoyed it a lot more then me. The camera work by Leigh is fantastic but I could not connect with the characters and I thought it had some pacing issues. Abbott had a great physical performance though!
Hey Coy! My husband and I just came back from the movie and we loved it! It made me sad more than anything but I was fully invested in the family and thought it was good.
Excellent new take on the werewolf subgenre ! Okay, I get that many may be put off by the fact that this take is miles away from the classic horror werewolf tale. Here, Whannel takes the Body Horror approach and therefore treats Lycanthropy as a disease and not a curse. This makes this movie more realistic and therefore more immersive. Obviously, there are some flaws, such as the insistance on what I call " The Protector " trope, which was a little over the top. Aside from this, however, the film does effectively play with one's emotions. The cast is strong, both Abbott and Garner delivering solid performances. Whannel also succeeds in delivering a stressful atmosphere by placing the action in a nocturnal isolated area, very reminescent of Dog Soldiers. I care very much for werewolf movies and am a big fan of An American Werewolf In London, The Howling and Dog Soldiers. However, I wasn't overcome neither by Nicholson's Wolf or Del Toro's The Wolfman. All in all, I find Whannel's approach effiscent and refreshing... And also clever: his treatment of Lycanthropy as a disease enables him to widen his scope of storytelling, freeing him of the restraint of what I'd call "The Moon block". Thanks to this approach, we are treated to an excellent opening sequence where the action takes place during the morning. However, had we not been informed of the subject matter via the movie's opening message, I'm sure the opening sequence would have been even more effective. Finally, this new approach also allows the film to stay grounded in reality: no superhuman feats here, just animalistic behavior which could be, in a way, compared to cases of Rabies. But in a more extreme manner, yet staying clear of the openly supernatural. So don't expect to see ten foot leaps or people being thrown in the air ! In this film the wolf men are strong... But not that strong. The physical alterations are clearly the work of what could be a real down to earth virus of sorts and far from your average mythical monster, so be prepared (and obviously, all this also allows to save costs on production). If you bare all this in mind I think you'll have a good time. I know I did. 😎👍
Great review, Coy! I want to see this, have from the beginning. Werewolves are my favorites monsters. I'm always curious how they're going to portray them in the physical sense. I'm very curious, now that you've mentioned it. I want to check it out at some point over this long weekend.
This is kind of a "realistic" take on the wolfman. Not a literal wolf (in fact, nothing to do with wolves). I also like the traditional look more... But this movie works better this way, I think.
I love movies. I like to think that o can judge a movie based on what it is trying to be. Nosferatu and Dune 2 were my favorite movies last year. But drastically different. I appreciate what the goal of this movie was. I think performances were fine. Directing was fine. The script honestly is where i thought it was kind of weak. Dialog was sub par. And some of the characters choices were questionable. This movie had solid moments. The opening was great. I enjoyed the atmosphere. But this almost seems like they took a short and it was strenuous to get 90 minutes out of it. It’s want scary enough. I’m sorry I’m rambling lol 3/5 stars Invisible man was so good though and i agree how underrated upgrade was.
I gotta be honest the movie disappointed me it wasn't scary for me and I didn't like the Wolfman design it looks too much like a zombie and botba werewolf
I c Deadpool and Superman in the background, what else? @@CoyJandreau Think i should c this movie tomorrow to get a poster ? A Thrills and chills AMC poster for this movie
With Wolf Man I thought this movie was yet another feminist statement where leadership is preferred when patriarchy and matriarchy are on display. This was a story of the removal of primal order and induction into subtle chaos obfuscated by protectionism.
The fact that this movie had only just 25 million dollars deserves an applause 👏👏👏 because these days especially blockbusters movies cost way too expensive. Bigger budget doesn't necessarily mean better looking movies its the ideas that's most important SAW XI THE BRIDE! 28 YEARS LATER these are my most anticipated horror movies of 2025
I kinda felt the same thing for the first 20 minutes of the movie. Her character is very plain and cookie cutter and needed more development, however once the tension starts her acting chops kick in and shes able to convey a lot of emotion without saying much.
love seeing your channel grow, brother. keep spreading the joy

I wasn’t sold on the trailers. But I like the idea of the psychological perspective of the Dad and his family dealing with him being cursed.
glad to see you and your son are home safe, buddy.

I really enjoyed it. I was surprised how emotional it was, and it truly felt tragic.

They should’ve just stayed in their Kush penthouse apartment & had an agent sell it from the jump with a virtual walk-through
That 20/20 hindsight
Hey coy. Please tell me wolfman ends up looking more like the werewolf we know and love by the end.

All I asked was for it to be better than that 2010 movie. Thankfully imo it was.
