    The kid "brings it" on this song. Nice tone and articulation throughout his soloing and rhythm as well. I can't imagine playing with Robben at this age or any time at all! I have have heard Robben play with too many folks who "God Bless Them" shouldn't be on the same stage as Robben and Michiya doesn't disappoint!!!

      Agreed about Robben. Ridiculously warm, aggressive, brilliant player; all the right notes, and love his singing voice too. It's hard to match that talent. But, then, I guess I'm biased.

    I love it when Robben throws in those jazzy phrases because they sound great and sound valid. Not like some guitarists who insert jazzy phrases but they sound awkward and not at all natural.

    @k3m0th30n3 Sounds right. The very first arpeggio of that phrase is just an Emaj triad with either some Ionian or Mixolydian extended notes added around it. I transcribed it, I should post it up!

    Who is the other guitarist? I think he handled himself very well sharing the stage with Robben Ford!! In that situation you would be better off not knowing who Robben was!! That would humble most players. They would have themselves tied up in knots trying to impress the audience.

    The not Robbin Ford guy is very good, but kinda generic and sometimes falls in to the cliched hard rock licks..
    Robbin Ford's playing is so tasteful.

      Steffen, That's a terrible view coming from a talented player as yourself . Taking a page from Alan Holdsworth you are not that original yourself . As a very competent player i am surprised your so critical of Michiya & the smile on Robben's face tells a different story that your negative outlook on this young & upcoming player.

    • @lqr824
      @lqr824 3 года назад

      The main thing I hear is that Haruhata is a more narrow, straight-ahead rocker, while Ford can play any style and plays quite a few passages that'd I'd consider "jazz" and in fact, "outside" in jazz speak. His playing's quite musical I think, I wouldn't call it tasteless by any means. If he's so tasteless you'd have to ask why Ford would even choose to play with him actually.

    • @lqr824

      @@lambert1702 yeah, and Michiya Haruhata has his own signature models now too
