@samyajyoti de I have to disagree with "worsened the situation". His effort reduce the open discrimination against dalit, specially in cities in southern India. The reservation, actually help to gap the difference. The reason why reservation become a bit controversial nowaday, is because the gap is becoming smaller, but it is still there.
If Ambedkar was the only guy in the lead, without Gandhi, India nowaday will be a very different country. Gandhi is a Great Man, a bringer of peace. But, He is in His core, a traditionalist.

These same people will start segregation if it was removed.
Also there are enough seats in general category for everyone else to compete. The fact that cut off is higher in general shows that most upper caste people are well off and can afford better education and expensive courses.
You might be one of the good ones but you can't ignore that people still practice untouchability. These people are just admitting it. Educated people will be much more subtle about it and it will be hard to prove.

I'm dalit from a middle class family...I used to work in very popular tech co. ... Even their I experienced sublte but different treatment from my upper caste manager...So it's not just rural villages which breed and harvest untouchability.. Untouchability is in veins of our nation...

I'm a dalit and from a middle class family. I went to Kota to prepare for JEE exams. Students there literally started asking about my caste... And when I told them I didn't know.. they literally googled my surname.. and found out I belonged to that particular caste... They literally named me that caste name and started mocking it.

Casteism is not there in Bengal. Even if there is it isn’t prevalent.there are two reasons for this. The general population in Bengal is actually lower than SC st counterparts. And the only upper castes are Kayasthas and Brahmins. No other caste exists in Bengal for the most part. Even among Brahmins and Kayasthas there are upper Brahmins or kulin Brahmins and kulin kayastas. Also my fathers family was from Dhaka side of Bengal. And I have heard of some practices like if even the shadow of a lower caste person fell on our land or house. The place was washed with Ganga jal and there was some puja done. I am glad we don’t do this shit anymore. Bengalis only care about caste when it comes to marriage I feel. Which is also going away.

Today when the world is watching they feel ashamed of themselves what horrific things they did to me so they cover their shame by accusing me false things, or by claiming I am not from them or for calling me Bro while laughing after that the world should not know the horrific things they did to me and later as a preacher they were blocking me and fighting me as they did not agree that I be a preacher and then as I was exposing them and preaching reform moderate views. Later they wanted to make me a commodity seeing no worth in me that I can never be anything in life so I should inherit my mother by becoming a prostitute. This is how evil they are. They are decieving the Government of Tanzania and the entire world that I am not from them. This my community are the indian Shia Muslims even called the Khoja Shia Ithnasheri Jamaat. They are very powerful economically in Tanzania. They are even found in other East African countries, in UK, in Canada and in other countries of the west where they migrated. They help one another but for the way I was born they rejected me. And people think that when I speak of my gender I need money or discounts as the norm is these days. Back there in 2019 I was writing to a person in Facebook about my sexual organs secretly in a private facebook messenger, and that person was not someone I was seeking him to have sex with me, but he was a person who was a doctor and he wanted to then see me that come to me I see you as I never saw a person born as such but I have learned and heard that there are people born with two sexual organs as such so he implored me to go and see him in his office but I decided not to go in fear he should not sexually want me or abuse me and when I left my number in his messenger he began calling me but I then blocked the phone. He was charging for consultation and for treatment if any but for me I told him I have nothing as am suffering and there are some donations I am getting and I use for my food, needs and other issues or I save to buy a phone or do something but it will not suffice me for seeing him but still he wanted to see me for free and he told me it is important but I then feared his urgency to see me should not be sexual abuse
AMBEDKAR caste reservation for only 10 years at that time but unfortunately they extended (indue political influences and for political needs) other politicians used this a base for casting votes for them. So our political system is double-headed snake

Reservation is for providing the representation to the people according to their share in the population.. for example sc make up around 15% of the population so there should be 15% of sc people in each job it doesn't matter they are rich sc or poor sc.. and why is that so??

I do not oppose reservation.I want maximum benefits of reservation for the poor sc/st.
Lets us suppose that 80% of sc/st population are poor and 20% are rich.
So 80% of the 22.5% reservation that is 18% should be given to poor sc st.And the rest 4.5% to the rich sc/st.
As belonging to sc community my father worked very hard to provide me better education , i have frnds of upper caste and sometimes while talking to each other they use tosay my caste as a abusive language. And people think there is no discrimination . After qualifying my pg and net could not get my internship as whole staff belongs to upper caste and they told me this on my face .

I don't live in rural area, my city is fairly developed. In schools we don't talk about castes and stuff so I thought it is not an issue that I'm a dalit untill my one friend came to me to talk about our one classmate and her words were "Are woh na lower caste ki hai" without knowing that I'm also a dalit but I did not hide my identity and confronted her and said "we both share the same caste" she was very embarrassed. This happened when we were in 9th grade, I'm sorry but even if people tell how "superior" sanatan/Hinduism is I don't respect this religion, y'all still cry about how Mughals exploited you and yet expect us dalits to forget all the sufferings our ancestors faces for centuries, not happening atleast for me.

The dalits from these villages are fewer in percentage who gets benefit of reservations which they should get. And here in metro cities I have so many upper caste friends coming from upper middle class families who are making fake sc/obc certificates and getting admitted in medical colleges ,iit etc.

I am from Bihar, brought up outside Bihar in multiple states as my father is in defence. We in Bihar greet our elders by touching their feets. Everytime I visit my village I see new faces, so if they are elder to me and comes to visit us I simply touch their feet Nd take their blessings. There has been several incidents when I hv touched some lower caste's feet Nd elders of my family have scolded me. I only say one thing, I don't care if they are lower caste or upper I'll touch their feet as they are elder to me.

Nd due to reservation many of people who are in need of such facility never get a chance because of those people who misuse reservation. Even today itself I too don't understand that a person who is earning 70,000 uses reservation for their children. In medical field (many other Fields too are facing the same) there are almost 42 thousands MBBS seats but due to such reservation if a unreserved category person get rank a within 20 thousands he can't get a single seat bcz of those who are getting it due to reservation even after getting a rank of more than lakhs😑.

I belong to sc community dalit and one thing I face in school and in college and in my apartment building whenever anyone is asking about my cast i m scared because many things come in my mind first if I tell my real caste they will bully me with my caste name and some of might not showing that they discriminate me but they will stay away from me.
In my apartment people share thier Prasad with everyone but one day when my mom came from mandir and then i asked her mom why u not share ur Prasad then she replied to me that if I gave them Prasad they take that Prasad later they will throw it. bcoz they consider we are dalit so they think it against thier caste beliefs that they took something from low caste people. They are not showing but still pratice caste discrimination

In Punjab we have casteism even though it is prohibited in the teachings of Sikhism but the level of discrimination is much lower compared to states like UP. In Sikh gurdwaras any one belonging to any caste, race or religion is welcome and everyone eats together sitting right next to each other!

@@JitendraSingh-ut3vj In Andhra Pradesh dalit Christians are those who are formerly scheduled castes but who converted to Christianity. They do not come under SC category. In a secular country like India everyone has the right to choose and follow whatever religion they like. But only the Dalits can't choose Christianity or Islam whereas all other castes can choose and still claim their reservation. The STs and OBCs have no such restriction. They can change their religion and still claim reservation. The SCs should only be hindu/ Buddhist/sikh.
Obviously merely by changing their faith their social or economic status will not be improved. They are still considered as low caste and cannot be rich overnight. The govt has brought this rule to curtail the Dalits from converting to Christianity.

Yaar yeh kaun sa gaon hai. In my fathers village and my mom's village, i have never seen these things. Instead we call them at our home in almost every occasions. Also, we work together on our fields, and then sometimes eat together. My brothers have guided the poor children in their career and have helped many such people financially. Being a Jaat, i have seen this in my family some 20 years back. But things have changed after my grandparents passed away. Now i feel there is no discrimination against such people.
I dont know which village is this. Such a shame.
