Thanks Arijan, that is a great tutorial, the pace was good, you took time to explain your process and the decisions behind each move, which was really helpful. I watched it end to end without a break, looking forward to seeing how it's rigged and put into a game engine. Keep up the great work.
i did exactly that. i just finished the tiger and I am now doing the sherman myself to recreate the fury scene. I'm actually kinda getting there. try doing it yourself once u do this. honestly its not as complicated as I thought it would be.
Ok tutorial. You can reduce your workload by using the mirror modifier from the beginning though. You can also get rid of any faces that will never be seen while in a game. On the round parts like the turret and gun, you can reduce the poly count further and simply enable smooth shading to hide the hard edges entirely. Also, the more edges you have, the harder it is to unwrap and texture correctly as well as the more rendering per tank the gpu/cpu has to do. Also, 13:30, no you dont. Use a boolean modifier and it'll do all that for you.
@@ArijanRace --thanks when i mirror i have my cursor like you said but i see that it is going in my tank is it because that orange dot not moving to the cursor if so how to i move it thanks again/--(never mind i got it i had to search how to move set origin point )
This was super impressive to watch! I'm a programmer who got into a bit of modelling and I love that you actually explain a lot of the steps you take. Even if I don't understand everything, it's great to get a view on how professionals work. Keep it up! I have one question though: You have a lot of faces inside of other shapes that are invisible, e.g. when you add the last boxes and move them partly into the tank's body. Is it worth to delete those faces for the sake of performance when making game models?
@@gob1598 select an n-gon and press ctrl + T to triangulate it. I can imagine that there is probably some way to select all faces with more than four vertices and then only triangulate those.

you should spend a few weeks per tank, look at what dcs does, they take years to make a plane. if you could make a tank game that could rival il2 tank crew or i guess gunner heat pc which is going to suck. if you are this good man you could seriously make the best tank sim on the market, look at what all these tank games did, they made a fun game but nothing is ever modeled on the interior and nothing is ever simulated. it sucks to know you are out there not making an insane sim or something. the best we have for now is steel beasts or il2 tank crew i guess.
It would help a lot for some of the newer people to blended if the keys you use show up on screen
Yes!
Yeah true

as a new comer, I've never seen the "blueprint" and reference images used within the 3d software itself. This has been very helpful, thank you.

Un gran trabajo , para el mejor tanque.
Gracias Arijan.
i also made the same m1 abrams just like yours and i really like your tutorial
I didn't understand what you did at 23:14 minutes, can you describe what you pressed?
How do you duplicate the rear part of the turret after removing the mirror modifier?

If the face moves when you try to extrude it, try this: Select the face, duplicate it with Shift + D, cancel, and extrude again. Worked for me.
Thanks man, worked for me

Can my model have ngons if a plan to texture it and use it as game asset?
It can, but try to get quads or triangles if you can.

It will select for you just make sure you have nothing selected when you do that as not to contaminate the selection.
how did you make your cube to have these lighter edges? looks a lot like the model is in sculpt mode
Check out the "Cavity" option under the viewport shading settings
how you get your cube like that 2d type ?
