The Nachmund Rift War is an ongoing conflict being waged by the Imperium in the Nachmund Sub-Sector.
Closely connected to the War of Beasts and War of Nightmares on Vigilus, while the Fortress World itself continues to remain largely in Imperial hands the greater Nachmund Gauntlet finds itself besieged by the Forces of Chaos.
At Sangua Terra, the Imperials sought to organize a defensive network collectively known as the Sanctus Wall. This consisted of systems that had previously served as Indomitus Crusade supply hubs which were quickly fortified in their own right. However, the stalemate would soon be broken, must to the shock of both sides. Abaddon’s trusted lieutenant Haarken Worldclaimer arrived with a Black Legion army.
Lord Admiral Prisca’s force soon arrived at the Grakiliod Narrow, a location that Haarken’s fleet could not bypass.
Despite heavy losses, Prisca’s fleet maintained enough momentum to break through Worldclaimer’s formation and burst through it on the other side. As the ships broke through, they peeled off left and right, unleashing waves of attack craft as they attacked the rear of the Chaos fleet as it was changing position. After many hours of fighting, Haarken had reorganized his fleet in a jaw-like formation ready to close on the Imperials. With his final order, hundreds of ships bore down on the Imperial armada. The exhausted loyalist Space Marines onboard stood little chance and were overwhelmed. Despite a brave final stand, the Imperial fleet was eventually annihilated.
Only a fraction of the Imperial fleet survived the battle to limp back to the Sanctus Wall. Prisca herself was thought dead, and her plan had achieved questionable results.
The Imperial commanders at the Sanctus Wall were disturbed by reports of the scale of the incoming Chaos armada. Meanwhile, the Inquisition continued to battle cults and hidden agents of Chaos within the worlds of the Sanctus Wall itself. Indeed, Sangua Terra, linchpin of the Sanctus Wall, is currently under mass invasion by Daemons.

A lot of people online are looking at the winged Stormcast Eternal models from the Age of Sigmar 4th edition launch box, and seeing better Sanguinary Guard. Cheaper, too. Those models will be everywhere on the secondary market.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Changeling has shown up on a few forgeworlds as an imperial symbol and ordered local troops to join them in a desperate battle into the Eye of Terror before just bailing while Chaos eats the followers.

To "Harken" is old english for "To Listen" so it makes perfect sense for a Harold's name.

I'm curious, because Celestine is the equivalent of a Sisters Primarch, would saint Prisca (assuming she was rescued) be the equivalent of Lionel coming back, but for Sisters? Like two living Saints?
Prisca is an Imperial Navy Admiral, with no ties to the Sisters other than having a force of them under her command for one battle.

The idea for a world where millions of people live in crashed ships was an arc in a Dark Heresy game I'm running. We named it Prospect's Call since tons of people flocked there to strip the fallen vessels, but now they live in them, because some of those warships were chaos aligned, but are too valuable as potential reclamation material to be blown up from orbit
I don’t mean to be that guy but the indomitus crusade is over. In the dark imperium book Bobby G has a big celebration, marking the end of the crusade for reclaiming the worlds of imperium Sanctus
Didn't they retcon the timeline so that those books take place during the crusade?
Also, the only thing to come from outside the system are the tyranids. God knows what else is out there, but the best case scenario is MORE TYRANIDS.

Baal is currently under construction. It’s rebuilding the damage from the hive fleet along with building to be the hub of the imperium on that side of the rift so while the hive fleet devastated the planet, it is recovering slowly but it’s surviving.
If you were to attempt to go around the Rift by cutting out then back into the milky way wouldn't you also have to contend with the dangers of the halo stars as well? Those surround the whole works don't they?

Aside from the fantastical reasons, leaving the galactic plane would require an enormous amount of energy. Think of how much is required to get a rocket outside of Earth’s atmosphere and then imagine that on the scale of a galaxy. The Milky Way and other galaxies are shaped the way they are because of their weight in the fabric of space and you would have to overcome that to go “under or over” anything within the galactic plane. The ships of the any faction besides Tyranids may not even be capable of leaving

Is it point-to-point teleportation, or can you enter the network at one point and go anywhere in the network?
You can go into the network and get lost. Commoragh is in the webway after all
It's a bit like a tunnel network, though some tunnels are sealed or infested. You don't teleport, though you travel faster.
I know this is probably a "tapping the 'eventually' sign" question, but can we get an episode on Necromunda?

The fleet size being weird reminds me of Halo 2s opening, with Hood saying "the fleet that destroyed Reach was 50 times this size", which when he said it was wrong because Fall of Reach said it was about 100 ships, but because he said it they retconned it to be like, 500 instead

ah... so you dont know much about where things are on the galactic scale... let me assure you, if the light of big-e hits you at cadia it hits you in more than enough darkspace.... we are about half way up the Orion arm on the bottom left of most galixy maps... cadia is a planet in the Perseus arm .. at the top left... i mean if you went 5 sigmars distance up youd be out of range but why would you ever have to go that far?
