- The Chautauqua Concert Band playing "Superman Suite" - a selection of themes from the movies. We are a group of music teachers and adult musicians who play one concert a year. We add 100 7th graders and then 100 8th graders who play other numbers with us. In total, we prepare about a dozen pieces each concert. CSR on timpani.
Love the euphonium solo in this arrangement. and finally a recording that does it justice. Thanks for making my night.
love the pic/tuba duet in March of the Villains. Played it in HS 5 or 6 years ago. I absolutely loved it!!
This is a really solid performance of this beautiful arrangement. Just a couple of quibbles: I wish the beginning had the full, more intricate tounging rhythm of the original (admittedly, very difficult). The other is the percussion part to "Can you read my mind?". sounds too junior high, even if that is the way Lowden arranged it. We played it without percussion in that section and it was beautifully lyrical. All in all, well done!
Wooooo! Go sax! This rocks!
That bassoon though, yesssss.
'A' for effort but if you're teachers working with students please spend time tuning your group with some sustained notes during rehearsal to lock into the center of the pitch particularly on the unisons..
