I'll never understand this set up - flutes to the right of the conductor! Surely the sound just carries to the back of the band, rather than to the audience!
Actually, the sound from flutes comes out of the mouthpiece, rather than the end. A little counter-intuitive but for this reason it matter which side of the conductor the flutes are on.
