@@TwoOldDudes Didn't see "Runaway" still ? I envy you guys, You're on a beginning of a wonderful journey of getting to know Kanye... I wish I could again! After that , check "Lost in the World" which he done with Bon Iver. Next after that "New Slaves"
At 7:45 Kanye says that North wanted Nikes as a gift, he immediately follows that with "this is not about me". Kanye's Yeezy brand is under Adidas and Kanye is basically a sworn enemy of Nike after he felt betrayed by the company bc of them not offering him a deal after his Air Yeezy's sold out. When North now asks him for a pair of Nikes, he realizes that his kids and family will take precedent over anything else. If North wants the shoes of the enemy, he will get them for her. Also the mention of the phoenix was spot on! Kanye has used the phoenix metaphor once before in his short film "Runaway" in 2010. Back then, he used it as symbolism for his career after he was blackballed bc of the Taylor swift incident - he rose from the ashes of the controversy and came back with the best album of the 2010's ("best" according to Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, internet users). Here, the footage from the live listening party shows him using the fire to burn away his guilt and trauma (yes, he was actually on fire), and ends the event by finally taking off the mask he's been wearing all of 2021 when he comes face to face with Kim as a new man.
I saw this listening party online and wondered how he cut out all the vehicles that were driving around it the whole time. Most with brake lights still on.
he wore a mask for the entirety of his album roll out and hasn’t talked to the press which is insane for kanye. during his yeezus era he took inspiration and wore masks from mason martin margela (fashion designer) who covered his models in a mask that destroyed the celebrity model obsession at the time in fashion and let the clothes speaks for themselves. margela then slowly backed out of the limelight, not showing up to greet the crowd at the end of his shows and he started to immerse himself in his peers. back in 2013 during yeesus he dawned the mask as a aesthetic choice but now he wears it for its true meaning, anonymity. His album listening party is a retelling of dante’s inferno going from hell, purgatory, and then heaven. kanye is a born again christian, the message of his album is if you put in the work you can always find your path towards god even if you and everybody around you doesn’t think you can. so if every time you listen to the album and look at your screen you will see yourself. the first listen party was bleak and empty with an unfinished album in the background and kanye in a red outfit letting his emotions out even to just his mother name. the representing hell (him before he was a born again christian). then before the 2nd listening party he lives stream him living, working, and sleeping in a small room in a huge stadium. he lets people into his process, his work as christian man. then the listening party starts and all you see is his bed and his essential, the music starts playing and the album evolving growing literally while it’s live. in the middle of the party he calls mike dean fix something on the song heaven and hell. this representing purgatory, even while the album was being made he filed to legally change his name to ye, and ye meaning you the most used word in the bible. going from kanye meaning only on to ye meaning you. the third and final listening party he returns to chicago and rebuilds his child hood home, his heaven. as he is a born again christian he lets people who are not religious stand on his mothers porch representing you can also do it to. he then lights up on fire in his mothers home being reborn, taking off his mask in months, marrying kim moving forward and focusing on his family.

You fellas have interesting brains, and I’d be thrilled to see how you react to such a generational figure.
Totally love this reaction! You guys were so observant and didn’t miss much of the meaning of the video with no knowing much about Kanye and his current life. Spot on!
I think one of the best things about Kanye is that his music has a point to it, but it’s totally up for the listeners interpretation of it. It was interesting seeing how y’all saw everything.
Coming up through your child and surviving through hell is what the house, cross, and fire means… Kanye is always creating imagery of a new character with each album. We all change throughout life, but Kanye has the power to show that you can suffer and choose to be a better man as you age. We all learn, but we have a choice to learn and be better. It’s not about yourselves but the ones around you in the end. We have a choice but it’s time to come to life for everyone who hears this ❤️. I hope everyone can hear this from his lyrics.
As long as we’re speaking spiritually: In the Catholic/Christian faith, fire is a holy symbol and typically featured when God is present. So, given Kanye’s faith, him being on fire could be a way to say that God is speaking through him.
Yep. Most Christians etc always associate fire with Tehom (Hell), not knowing that biblically, fire also symbolizes the glory of YHWH. In Daniel 7, it even seems like the glory of YHWH is itself the fires of Tehom.

Can we talk about the fact that this music video was performed live at the final listening party for Donda? no retakes, one take, and done live! pure artistry from a misunderstood genius.
This song (and video) is a masterpiece. Kanye is a musical genius. As much as people may not like him as a person, as an artist you can’t deny how talented he is. Definitely check out more from Kanye. I recommend ‘24’ which is from the same album that Come to Life is, his latest album Donda.
Loved watching this y’all! Most reactions are done by mega-fans of the artists themselves, making this really refreshing. Subbed and excited to dive into your other work!
This whole video was from a live visual performance in Chicago for his album listening party, And some other things I noticed y'all didn't pick up on, that "pen" line was "uncle right back in the pen, auntie shut down again, till she finally come to life". "Pen" is a reference to going back to prison/jail, the whole album was dedicated to his family and deceased mother. Also, yes that was kim and kanye at the end in the mock wedding, and also him in the fire. During the live performance there was a 30 second break between the two shots. In the future I'd recommend pulling up the lyrics for hip hop tracks, usually the lyrics are very dense and quite literal so it makes it easier to follow along. Maybe just read the lyrics before watching/listening. Love what y'all are doing, keep it up
Kanye’s fan base is an amazing audience. I recommend Only one by Kanye west and Paul McCartney. It’s a tribute to North West and sung from the perspective of his late mother Donda West.
Since you guys were to interested in the film aspect of the music video. While there are cuts and editing to create the music video, all the footage is essentially a live shot of the end of the live listening party he had for the album. The audience at the stadium basically sees this live.
Just subscribed. Love when ppl actually give Kanye a listen with an opened mind. I hope you guys do more of his stuff. He is without a doubt the best artist of this generation.
This video is edited footage from one of his live concerts that he did in preparation for the release of the album. The woman in the wedding dress is actually Kim, which has people speculating on whether or not they're trying to fix things. The major themes of the album are his dead mother, his divorce, and religion.
Something that makes Kanye unique from most other rappers and singers is that he makes the the music and beats behind his music himself, so not only does he express himself through his lyrics and performance but the music itself too
Also, videos of people with higher ages reacting to rap videos get A LOT of views. I really encourage you guys to do this more often and y’all will 100% see your channel grow.
One thing about Kanye... He's a very very passionate person to what he believes in. As you guys said what he did to Taylor Swift... For the average person, if we really thought someone was better, we'd shut up and go about our day. This dude's passion for music and what he believes, wouldn't let him shut up lol. Definitely wasn't right, but that's Kanye... He gonna tell it like it is. As for his music... He's top tier. Musical genius. While he does have his issues, when it comes to music and production, there is none other like him. Literally all his albums are golden! When I first heard Life Of Pablo, I didn't like it at all... No lie, it be on repeat now. It's one of my favorites from him. I went to his yezus concert here in Oakland, some years ago and I was in heaven. My two favorite... Kendrick Lamar and Kanye. They know how to throw a concert! Check out Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid Mad City album! Y'all won't be disappointed. It paints a picture while it tells a story!
If you guys liked that, another quite similar, very underrated, 9 minute emotional piece by Kanye is Pinocchio's Story, especially his 2015 hollywood bowl performance of it. He poured his heart and soul just everything into that one.
I think the magic of the video has a lot to with it being a live performance and still, the video team and audio team, as well as the performers getting it perfect. This is probably my favorite song on Donda, its so uplifting and triumphant whereas most songs about the same things would be depressing or self destructive. The chords and keys are *chefs kiss*. All these things are just a mirror on kanyes artistry over the last 20 years, man never settles for less.
This is fantastic! Please keep reacting to kanye, we all love it and we love the open mindedness you guys had although you had some predetermined opinions on Kanye, it’s cool you were able to put that aside and enjoy the music. He’s truly a creative genius and although he’s a bit much sometimes, his musical talent is undeniable.

+ Bon Iver, Bon Iver by Bon Iver
Good but wont be able to compete with lost in vegas. Those dudes arent going away, their energy and cohesiveness is off the charts. And thats no knock on these dudes, they are really good too
This was performed live in Chicago
Can we talk about the fact that this music video was performed live at the final listening party for Donda?
no retakes, one take, and done live! pure artistry from a misunderstood genius.
I've got news for you guys this was performed live so I think that makes the shots even more impressive
This song (and video) is a masterpiece. Kanye is a musical genius. As much as people may not like him as a person, as an artist you can’t deny how talented he is. Definitely check out more from Kanye. I recommend ‘24’ which is from the same album that Come to Life is, his latest album Donda.
What an amazing reaction by some dudes that could be my pops. love this stuff. and what a great commentary to music!
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!
Loved watching this y’all! Most reactions are done by mega-fans of the artists themselves, making this really refreshing. Subbed and excited to dive into your other work!
Awesome thank you!
This whole video was from a live visual performance in Chicago for his album listening party,
And some other things I noticed y'all didn't pick up on, that "pen" line was "uncle right back in the pen, auntie shut down again, till she finally come to life".
The craziest part is the entire music video was shot live, one take
mad when she home, sad when she gone. 😔
Wait! Kanye West’s Short film on his album is perfect for you guys. Directed by him and all songs from his MBDTF album.
Since you guys were to interested in the film aspect of the music video. While there are cuts and editing to create the music video, all the footage is essentially a live shot of the end of the live listening party he had for the album. The audience at the stadium basically sees this live.
I fycking love reactions channels like these so glad RUclips reccomended me
Thanks. Really appreciate you watching! Please share the love.
Great reaction, love how you both kept an open mind despite Kanye’s reputation! Can’t wait to see more :)
Just subscribed. Love when ppl actually give Kanye a listen with an opened mind. I hope you guys do more of his stuff. He is without a doubt the best artist of this generation.
This is my official In my top Kanye songs
This video is edited footage from one of his live concerts that he did in preparation for the release of the album. The woman in the wedding dress is actually Kim, which has people speculating on whether or not they're trying to fix things. The major themes of the album are his dead mother, his divorce, and religion.
That totally explains the "look" of the footage. Thanks man!
love the reaction, definitely my favourite song from the album. was up at 6am to watch this live and it was beautiful
Thanks!
Lol I love this reaction. Donda at soldier field was crazy; best way to experience the album
Thanks. That must have been quite the show!
Guys, the Bride in the video is the Bride described in the bible that one Jesus will come back for
This was shot live during one of the album listening parties
Loved your reaction guys!
Thank you!! 😁
You guys would really enjoy runaway or Jesus lord. This song always brings a tear to my eye too.
i feel like him being engulfed in flames symbolizes rebirth as a better and new person. That's what I've been thinking after seeing it.
Come To Life is an amazing song!
Something that makes Kanye unique from most other rappers and singers is that he makes the the music and beats behind his music himself, so not only does he express himself through his lyrics and performance but the music itself too
That's a lot of talent!
@5:40 "uncle right back to the pen" means, uncle right back to the penitentiary (prison). lol not a pen to write with lmao
Also, videos of people with higher ages reacting to rap videos get A LOT of views. I really encourage you guys to do this more often and y’all will 100% see your channel grow.
Thanks Eduardo, we've been doing more of it so check out some of our latest and stay tuned for more!
He says “Uncle right back to the pen”
I was there..on Soldier Field as a performer..it was amazing!🔥🔥🔥
What a great memory for you Eron. Thanks for watching!
Great video. These old timers definitely know music and media y’all just gained a sub
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate it!
U already know this channel is gonna blow up this year. Glad im here to witness it
That would be awesome. Thanks for watching!
Kanye is a genius
If you guys liked that, another quite similar, very underrated, 9 minute emotional piece by Kanye is Pinocchio's Story, especially his 2015 hollywood bowl performance of it. He poured his heart and soul just everything into that one.
I love this 😂 y’all are too cool for giving Donda a listen
I think the magic of the video has a lot to with it being a live performance and still, the video team and audio team, as well as the performers getting it perfect. This is probably my favorite song on Donda, its so uplifting and triumphant whereas most songs about the same things would be depressing or self destructive. The chords and keys are *chefs kiss*. All these things are just a mirror on kanyes artistry over the last 20 years, man never settles for less.
This song hits different
This is fantastic! Please keep reacting to kanye, we all love it and we love the open mindedness you guys had although you had some predetermined opinions on Kanye, it’s cool you were able to put that aside and enjoy the music. He’s truly a creative genius and although he’s a bit much sometimes, his musical talent is undeniable.
Thank you!
Suggestion: This is the first time Ive seen you guys. I don’t really know which genre of music you guys typically do reviews on, but if y’all start doing reactions to rap videos, your channel will really grow. It has a huge audience and this comment section has offered good suggestions for music videos to look at. Loved the video and hope the best for y’all!!!
Awesome! Thank you so much for the suggestion and, of course, for watching!
I was at the donda show in Chicago in August they shot this video at. Had no idea they were going to turn it into a video. This was the craziest part of the show
I think most of Kanye’s music videos are amazing. There is some outlandish ones but even those I Love.
I dunno man, that song with lil pump was so bad.
@@Jbayz we don’t talk about that one…
well this one isn't really even a music video it's literally just clips from his listening party
I read in Rolling Stone that the woman in the wedding dress was in fact Kim. Great reaction!
And regarding your last comment, aren't you proud of us for getting our headphones on before the music starts!
@@TwoOldDudes lol, I do hope you know I was just teasing! I could care less if you forget your headphones, it just adds to the ombiance. I think y'all are great, headphones or not!
@@kristineteall368 Yes we knew you were teasing! Thanks for the compliments!
Was there live, so fucking good. This song is incredible.
That must have been amazing. Thanks for watching!
Awesome reaction! Gained a sub. Also he said "uncle right back in the pen (jail) tell me how aunty been. Describing the situations ppl go through when having problems/challenges. He & Kim are big on prison reform also I think it's intentionally open for interpretation. Great job! Looking forward to more videos.👍
Thanks! Appreciate you watching and for the info!
I've never appreciated this song like I do now.
That is so nice, thank you Max.
Keep the videos coming guys, love your in-depth reviews and opinions. Let’s get more subscriptions to 1 million !
Thanks! New videos drop every Tuesday and Friday. And we would LOVE to get to 1M subs!
“Uncle right back to the pen” means his uncle back in jail again
My top 5 artist kanye West, MJ, Prince, Bowie, Freddy Mercury
That video was clipped from his live album listening party
Thanks for letting us know!
He made that video LIVE in Chicago (Where he is from) at his Album listening party! I was there and saw him literally on fire! He’s a true genius
The music video for 24 just released the other day, it's another song from this same album, you guys should check it out!
I loved this reaction. I am a diehard Kanye fan and I love to see people discover his music. Although he has had some outburst and unpopular opinions he truly is a musical/creative genius. It was nice to see you come in with no pre judgements and really react to the video. You've gained a new fan here!
Thanks, Derrick! We love having you here!
No he's saying his uncle is going back to the penitentiary and he's worried about his aunts well being. Just a bar that shows people are going through tough things
