Sorry for such a late response on this, but I talked with the guy in charge of this crew on this day. He said his father works for Corman and runs a crew up in Ohio I believe. He said one of these two machines was one that his father used when this guy was a kid. With proper maintenance and care those side booms will go forever, plus they can be rebuilt if needed.
Very interesting aspect of the railroad world we never get to see!! Thank you for sharing this!
R.J. CORMAN,,, RULES THE RAILROAD REPAIR WORLD ! 💯👍🤠

Crazy that the sideboom on the left is 50+ years old and still getting it done!

RJ Corman uses the best equipment! And Caterpillar makes the best equipment 👍👍👍!
Amazing video
Why didnt they put traction motors back under it.?
Thanks for posting! I am currently trying to replace the motor on my emd sd70 out in the driveway and this video helped a lot. Cheers!
Definitely a good place to wear your steel-toed boots.
Sometimes it takes really strong people to repair stuff!
Yeah, it's not like replacing wheel bearings on a Honda Accord, it is?
NEED A SAFETY CLIP ON THAT HOOK AND A TAG LINE ON THE WHEELS WOULD BE GOOD
Wish i was there 😢
