This one is so good, the starting riff reminded me of old school Motley Crue and then when it starts for real, it has that Rainbow/Deep Purple feel and for that style of song, I can't think of any better compliment to be put in the same league as those 2 legendary bands
Dancing With The Devil, Frozen Serenade, Burden Of Time, Empty Daydream are underrated songs, this song shows the R&B vocal style of Asami. Some people said Lovebites can't make groovy/hardrock songs and only speed, They were wrong and didn't listen to the whole album. I'm sure if Lovebites were a poprock or hardrock band they probably sounded better than any poprock/hardrock band that exists today.
I love this performance! Asami is so sassy and scrappy here. And of course, Midori is always perfect. 💚

This is actually not very usual Lovebites song. They are usually more metal style. This is one of the rare songs that are slower beat and more relaxed and just fun.

Asami actually sounds like Janet Gardner from Vixen at times, especially on their less metal tracks. The album version of Warning Shot is an excellent example of that.

I love this song. A small deviation from their usual Power/thrash, but I think it’s an excellent showcase of their versatility and of course a very groovy heavy rock song. These women are perfect.
LOVEBITES is officially still on hiatus. Asami got married, let her hair go back to brunette, and cut it to shoulder length. Haruna is still making miniature food out of clay. Miyako got married and had a child. Midori has been in the gym adding muscle mass and getting some serious tone. I know Midori and Miyako have been in the studio together as well, but I don't know if that means anything other than they're just jamming together. They still don't have a bass guitarist; I don't know if they've tried out anyone yet or not. Speaking of which, Miho got back on the stage with a cover band in Tokyo. She was just a guest, but she looked as lovely as ever and was playing her blue ESP Amaze.
What's cool about this song is that Miyako and Midori are playing guitars that they built. Midori's guitar's headstock says "GCA" which stands for ESP's Guitar Craft Academy. I think Miyako's guitar's headstock is blank, but I'm not sure. Haruna's part is really good, especially her footwork. While I admire her timing and stamina a lot, I think her more interesting parts are when she's not slamming the bass drums like crazy.

Yes it happens a lot with Japanese singers and bands that use English language for their lyrics. English not their native language being the primary factor for it. LOVEBITES has amazing English lyrics but Asami's accent, pronunciation and phrasing are pretty much like other Japanese people, albeit better IMHO.
Her pronunciation has really improved in the last couple of years.

I get what you mean. Sometimes, the caesura of the verse is not what should be expected in 'normal' English.
But it's not systematic in their songs and it would call it 'unusual' rather than 'weird' 🙂

Oh yeah Asami is a princess but she is not waiting the white knight in the castle. She is a beautiful and elegant princess that rules a land with strong fist.
The song, Dancing with the Devil, is the only one together with Glory to the World where the music is written by Midori. It is usually Miyako, Miho or Mao who write them.
They've not announced anything but since new year's eve they have reactivated their social media and are publishing pictures together. I guess soon we will have news: new music for 2022, who the new bass player is...
Asami and Midori wrote the lyrics. Along with Miho, they're the most fluent in English - although Miyako's English is quite good. Never heard Haruna even speak yet.
I have to point out that Midori also curses in English. 😁

As if Miyako is talented enough. She built the brown Guitar she is playing here. She not only plays them like a Pro. She Builds them like a Pro. They are so far up on the Next Level it is Scary. This is a Hard Rock Song they Do so Well.

@@dregeye Midori had a hand in building her guitar yes. In fact all 3 of her GCA's she had a hand in building but in all honestly the ESP Luthier trainees did most of the work for her. Miyako bought separate parts and assembled hers. Splitting hairs I know but it just goes too show how Proficient on many levels these girls truly are.
@@ricdale7813 In an interview with Miyako when she moved into her new studio, she showed the "tele" and said she was assisted by her guitar-tech in assembly & set-up, so, quite similar. Midori does have several 'sets' of photos of her working with GCA on the different guitars. Miyako also 'built' another, a "335" style, again, with the wood grain, same time saying she buys based on looks, then mods to get the Metal sound, but that the "335" would not 'fit' with LOVEBITES, but possibly another 'project'.

I really enjoyed this song. Away from power metal to hard rock with a great groove. I noticed Miyako is moving a lot more to the music in this one

I love that they’re both playing custom guitars too! Miyako and her tech built hers from parts, but Midori got to go to ESP’s luthier schools to make one-off custom changes, 4 campuses?, 4 custom guitars. I wish I could be the one they call to receive such treatment! She loves her gold hardware 😉💃🎸😎

For lyrics, Miho and Asami each write in English , despite being closer to broken English than conversational. (Midori’s English might be the best actually.). They separately have writing assistants that help with thesaurus and flow issues.
Asami and Midori did a long Q&A (on FB?) that shows their English skills. Midori also led on interviews when touring England, tho always an interpreter available.

I think the word you are looking for is inflection and the unexpected way she goes at the end of a word phrase. It indeed is something totally unique in rock music. I have noticed the same thing when following her singing with the lyrics visible. Suddenly, they are understandable. lol

The grammar of Japanese is completely different from that of English, so if you translate a Japanese song into English as it is, it will not match the melody.
Since LOVEBITES was thinking of expanding into the world, I wrote the lyrics in English from the beginning, but Asami, who is mainly in charge of writing lyrics, seems to have a hard time expressing fine nuances.
It's bound to improve with time. Learning a language isn't easy, especially to be able to write lyrics.

Lovebites have so many great songs and I rank them among the top 7 bands of all time (not quite made the top 5.... yet). This however is one of their less impressive songs, the sound and composition is extremely basic and Asami's english.......well not her best work.
