- Sunday the 18th of November saw me heading back up to the Cairngorms on what proved to be one of the finest Autumnal days left this year. The backdrop of Glen Feshie was just stunning and a fine walk in and of itself. The well made path leads practically all the way up onto the plateau, from here the summit of Sgor Gaoith is both dramatic and inviting. However, the views from the ridge down to Loch Einich is simply breathtaking!
On my fifth time in the Cairngorms, I was finally rewarded with a view, and what a view it was!
Sgòr Gaoith is a mountain in the western massif of the Cairngorms, and is separated from the Braeriach massif by the broad valley of Glen Einich. The second-highest summit of the mountain is Sgoran Dubh Mòr (1,111 m), which lies 1.3 km away due NNE along the summit ridge. The eastern side of Sgòr Gaoith is girded by steep cliffs which plunge down to Loch Einich; the western side is composed of heather slopes and a number of shallow corries.
When I first started checking RUclips videos for munros it was yours that was coming up but you seemed to have stopped. Hope you’re just taking a break as you’ve made some really enjoyable footage. Curved ridge for example was a class watch
Looks spectacular thanks for sharing 👍
Great video. I’m doing this Munro in 2 weeks. Hopefully I’ll have the views 👍🏻
Brilliant! One for my list 👍
Bored Camperz Thanks Buddy, I cant recommend this Munro enough. 😁🙌🏼⛰🏴
Nice one Douglas! It is indeed a great and underated Munro, Well worth the mega long drive up the sometimes frustrating A9 lol! Even just for a long walk down Glen Feshie it is well worth the journey up north. All the best for 2019 mate, peter. PS Aye you are correct about that car park, Usually freezing in the winter until noon.
Hi Pete, A very happy 2019 to you also pal. I saw your Vlog of this beauty when you went, and that sealed the deal for me! I think we had similar weather on the day too?
That view though down to Loch Einich eh?!
Stunning doesn’t even cut it. I heartily recommend the Glen Feshie walk just in its own right to anyone looking for a beautiful location for a day out walking.
Looking forward to seeing all your adventures this year Pete!
Best Regards, and thanks again for the inspiration in the first place!
Douglas 😁🙌🏼⛰🏴
