    In response to your questions:
    1) Yes. I love the stylized look of this figure. It gives me a IDW Comics vibe and I LOVE the IDW Comics series. I've also got some Optimus Prime figures in my collection to which they're relatively the same in terms of appearance, so it's nice to have something that's very familiar yet also very different.
    2) Yes I am okay with transformers figures that don't transform. I don't keep mine in their transformed form for the most part, and when we're talking about highly detailed figures like this, I want more accessories and posability options over the ability to transform.

  • @Toys_and_Tings

ThreeZero has a very particular style, but they have really good prices for how much paint and detail they offer. Many of their figures feel great in hand with heft and posability.

The torso bend forward goes A LOT MORE down than what you showed in the video. It just needs a little break in. Press your thumb on the grills, then give it a little light push while bending the chest forward, you'll get a lot more range bending down, you'll know that as there's a spine on the back and no matter how low you're going down, you can as the spine still shows and there's a gap behind the matrix, that's for room or space to accommodate the grill tucking in for forward bend

    1) I'm completely fine with different takes on the characters.
    2) I don't mind them as long as they add enough stuff and way better articulation. They have no kibble, they should move a ton more.
    3) I like the style on the head
Also, i say that the altmode is equally as important as the robot mode. For me, a car, a beast, a tank, any altmode should be equally as good as the robot. If a fig has a bad altmode, i don't want it becuase i can't ignore that and never transform it. It's part of the figure and it counts. I display both modes. That means i want not a lot, if any, robot kibble in the altmode. I leave my robots in a pose and after some time i transform them and leave them in altmode, and etc.

Mechs or mech like people seem to be where they really excel at. Organic/clothed figures might be more hit or miss.
They are giant robots and they look cool.
Non Transforming versions are great when they push the robot design into places where a transforming figure must make compromises.
Basically Hasbro's Red series show how not to do it. ThreeZero, Flametoys, and others go above and beyond at showing why it works.
As for these takes on the design. They look awesome. Represents the characters perfectly without getting lost in the new design.
Yeah that head is wonky. Optimus is generally "square jawed".There is no other roundness in this design.

I love stylized editions of characters. Also the non transforming ones I don't mind, as long as they are big figures. To me a transformer needs to be a big action figure since they are giant robots.

I did what you say, actually. I cut the ankle flap and the ball peg and armature... and it doesn't feel like you are missing something. Megatron is coming by end of the year and looks even better than this one (no silly ankle flaps). This Optimus is great, but is not a Flame Toys Killer. Between the originals, reissues, official releases, and third-party options, I’ve gotten so many slavishly-G1 transforming G1 Optimus Prime toys over the years that, yeah, totally cool with both different interpretations and non-transforming figures. How many more looks-like-cartoon-turns-to-red-truck toys can this fandom possibly friggin’ need?!

  • @Novapoid

I think ThreeZero has improved a LOT in recent times; I agree with you they were mostly hit and miss until some years ago but I they have clearly changed for the better. I bought this Optimus but I haven't shipped it yet; however I bought two figures from their ROBO-DOU line and I couldn't be happier: they're big, well sculpted, great paintjob and a lot of diecast for a very reasonable price. I hope they keep doing good work because Bandai definitely needs the competition.
I also agree the headsculpt is the weakest part of this Optimus; not a deal breaker but I wish they had included a second option in a different style.

I have a huge collection of Threezero/ThreeA, because of their video game figures. Hot Toys just forgot us gamers it seems. But its crazy to see how much better ThreeZero is compared ThreeA. Yah, I understand the history, but still you can tell a big difference. My first figure from them was MGS Rex way back in the day, and man, time has not been good to that guy. He's awesome, but loose joints, tiny parts, and a heavy railgun really hurt it. Rey is better, but ThreeZero's Titanfall figures are leagues better, as well as their 1/6 scale figures. Their head sculpts are a hit or miss, but at least they do characters that are not human-looking. The Bouncer is one of my favorite in my collection.

I’m cool with non transformable transformers. I have them displayed in robot mode usually. But a transformer that looks good, poses well, and can transform is just the total package. Regarding this figure. Overall, looks good. Maybe his chest is too big, so the head and shoulder seem small. So I prefer maybe a bigger head and shoulders.

I enjoy stylized figures, unless they are Michael Bay stylized. I’ve got the MDLX Bumblebee and love him, and I’ll pick up this guy too. So yea, I’m OK with a cool action figure that doesn’t transform, but I will probably only collect key characters if this line continues.

Have you checked out their DLX War for Cybertron Optimus? It is amazing, even better than the small one. Has lights in it too!
I dunno when Threezero got its second wind, but IMO, their releases for the last year+ they have seriously upped their game.
And yes, I am fine with non-transforming Transformers. I don't understand how some people will even openly admit they never actually transform the figure more than once or twice, but still insist it has to be able to do so.

Non-transforming Transformers are good when they use the fact that they’re non-transforming to their advantage to be as articulated and detailed as possible. There’s some non-transforming Transformers that are less articulated than ones that actually Transform, and at that point they’re just worse than the real thing and, and they don’t even transform either.
Also, have you ever consider reviewing third party Transformers figures? They’re some of the best of the best Transformers out there but they’re also some of the most expensive.
