This video saved me a lot of grief today. Had a stuck injector copper washer on my Volvo V70 D5. 8mm self-drilling tap stuffed inside a rubber hose did the trick. Thank you Alan

I use a round file to remove the injector washers, fits different sizes of washers as it's tapered at the end.

I had the exact same tool and had the screw fall out and fall into the cylinder
Luckily I managed to fish it out with a magnet
I now use an old flat screw driver made into a special hook which has never failed to remove many injector washers and it cost me nothing
Great idea which you are using

Very succinct video and pro tip Alan. I've heard people using round slim metal file to fish those out too.
Would be useful to show us one day how you clean the hole without debris getting into the cylinder head..

Alan been watching your videos on Mondeo's since I bought mine 2 years ago. been a great help to me with changing bushes and that. I am after advice on my 1 major issue with the car MK4 Mondeo 2.0tdci. the car lost power on way to work and was making a rattling sound and was like engine would boost up power. Rac came said turbo had gone. I checked and had a little wobble so changed it. Stated car was exactly the same. So after watching through your videos I saw.the one about the broken came shaft. The noise was coming form that area so I took off fuel pump. Sure enough end of cam shaft was broken. So iv used your videos for help and changed the camshaft new cambelt water pump new gaskets. After finally getting it started and getting all the air out of the fuel. I am still having issues. The car won't rev past 3000rpm if I hold the accelerator it will dropped down to 1.5 and just sit there. Now again for a second I will get a surge to max revs. I am getting codes p0087 and p0089. I would be great full for any advice what to look at now thanks

Push a square file through the washer and lever it out. Corners of the file bite into the copper.

I usually use a big pozi screw driver, little tap and she comes out, if not I have a long thin wire brush/pipe cleaner with some tough bristles on her, shove that down in and out a few times and out she comes

  • @jothain

I wonder if it would work to just lightly tap washer with normal punch and see if it would turn a bit so you could then maybe extract it with normal seal pick? Just a thought if someone doesn't have suitable thread tap.

Long flat blade screwdriver where blade end just fits in copper washer hole pop it down injector hole into hole in washer then little tap with palm of your hand and screwdriver blade digs into sides of hole in washer then just lift screwdriver out of injector hole, never let me down yet

I have even used concrete wall bolts to extract awkward stuff like this even attached with a slide hammer in my work
Shame you had to ruin a E10 socket in the process.
If you can buy one make one odd size taps metric / whitworth / bsp. and a grinder and a welder and bits of rod
I use a wooden dowel with a disc of emery cloth or wire wool just to give a clean to the mating services before refitting any sealing surface
Hope your still having a beer on a Wednesday night at home twiddling your thumbs thinking .... I could do something else with my time ... miss the waffle
