I'm sorry it turned out this way. I recall hearing several years ago about a Fast and Furious game with a non-binary protag and thinking "who is this game for?" It makes sense it was made for game journos. Still, you should be proud your work on this game. It seems like you did your best to make the game fun despite higher-ups wanting to make a propaganda piece for babies.
A bunch of progressive came into the project and casually killed it just to gain some brownie points with people who will never satisfied. That's the short and narrow version of this.
Story sounds like the most corporate thing ever: - ignore/don't understand fanbase - chasing social media trends - earn a "thanks, but no thanks" ...and they're STILL doing it while acting shocked when the project flops AGAIN. "out of touch" doesn't even cut it; this is serious dementia.
Great video, I appreciate the honesty throughout. I remember reading the credits list on this game and it was the likes of Doug Arnau, Casey Ringley etc, all the Project CARS team. Thing is we all have to do boring shit now and again at work, that's why they call it work. Anything that feeds the kids however is honourable work. I did have to laugh at the image of Racing God Ogonoski slowly dying inside while testing out the different cars though.
Fast and Furious had become such a disaster. IMO there are maybe 3 good movies in the whole franchise. On the similar note, the only very good Vin Diesel game was The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. I knew it inside out. It had a good story that connected with the first Riddick (Pitch Black) movie. Or is it nostalgia, I don't really know anymore...
I wonder if the two points are linked though. Because it's got an unenjoyable handling model, it's going to not be a fun game to play. Then as a result, they panic when it's too late and go down a route which might work in desperation.
Listen man, for what it's worth, I had a blast with this game. I know it wasn't the intended reaction, but for a solid 6 hours or so, the work you guys put in made me and a small group of friends extremely happy lol
We don't open our wallets. That's the power. We have it. Not them. Woke Disney lost a billion dollars with their 8 films. We just let them go broke, then we're right back on track.
@@tomigun5180the problem is that there is no alternative because they keep alternatives down and ostracize devs who speak up. Same in the movie industry. Because of that they are winning. The ideologues own the narratives of all big entertainment. Over time that propaganda has an effect in moving the Overton window. So while I wish what you say will happen I doubt it will be successful. Other companies are no better than Disney.
@@raskolnikov6443 As you wrote, it's true for the big industry. But there are is an alternative, the indie games. I just saw a new game's demo, that doesn't even use the word "gender" on the character generation screen, the player can choose from the two sexes. As for the movie industry, we just stop watching their movies, and watch good TV series instead, like The Last Kingdom.
Today's game publishers don't understand that making a game that pleases people who DO NOT PLAY VIDEOGAMES isn't a way to be successful. I personally do not care about representation of any sort, i just care about if a game is good or not. And unfortunately from seeing a few video reviews it was obvious that the Fast and Furious game your team was working on ended up being abysmal.
"Today's game publishers don't understand that making a game that pleases people who DO NOT PLAY VIDEOGAMES isn't a way to be successful" - Moreover, making a game that pleases people before the game release isn't a way to be successful
Literally. One of the few games I can think of in the modern day that did representation right is RDR2. It checked the 3 boxes of having a Female, Gay, and Black main character(s) with Sadie, Bill, and Lenny. Why did they work? Because their identities weren't shoved in our face. Outside of a few Lenny voicelines where he talks about how he doesn't feel safe being in the South as a Black man, he never lectures Arthur about "White Privilege". Sadie never lecture Arthur about "Toxic Masculinity". Bill never sits Arthur down and says "I'm here, I'm Queer, GET USED TO IT!". Instead all three of them were very well written characters who had more or less complete arcs who served their purposes extremely well.
I have this imaginary scenario in my head where, game devs in the mid to late 2000s were given the technology and hardware from today, god imagine the unchained creativeness that 2000s devs could’ve made without any sort of shareholder or ideology shackling them
I can't tell if it would be good or bad. Initially it seems like, "Yeah, they'd have almost unlimited ability to make what they want!" But some of the best things come from innovation and fighting against restrictions. Things like being limited on texture size, on audio capability, etc... and the creative solutions that give the games character. Analysis paralysis is a thing and I suspect having too many options and being too unlimited might even hurt the creative process. Necessity is the mother of invention, after all.
@@LithiumLogicaYeah, i was basically going to point that out too. If anything i’d rather see the limitations from back then remain until today. Imagine if everyone still made games for the PS2, for example. Pretty sure it’s still the best-selling console ever, too.
I can only speak for myself here, but I play games to _escape_ real life. You know why? Because real world events tend to fucking suck. I don't mind going outside and I would probably play a game about grocery shopping, but when I boot up a video game and the first thing I see is pronoun selection and "Bigot Sandwich" lines, I get rationally angry. I don't want to see that shit. I don't care which virtual character is and isn't homosexual. I don't care which virtual character is and isn't Black. I only care when it gets shoved in my face and I get told I *HAVE* to care or else I'm a bigot. I'm so fucking sick of it all, man. The more I get told to do X, the more I want to do Y just out of pure spite. I believe older people like me call that raging against the machine (something that modern RATM knows nothing about lol). I'm at my breaking point when it comes to video games, man. GTA6 is my last hope but if I boot up the game and the first thing Lucia says is "I go by She/They, you Chud!", I might just lose it lmfao
There are some sources saying Lucia is the "brains" of the story and she'll be a proficient hacker, basically taking Lester's role in GTA 6. If being able to fistfight men to death and gun down crowds of people as a woman wasn't screaming that this character will be insufferable and made for pandering maybe her being a Latine gurl tech genius will.
Idk if they'll go all the way to they/them bs but its pretty much confirmed shes gonna be a girl boss and superior to the man in every way. I believe there was also a bunch of lefty politics lines in the leaks. It definitely wont make "fun of both sides" like every other GTA game, expect constant shitting on right wingers and bad writing in general considering key people at Rockstar have left + the fact that GTA 5 DLC's have gotten worse and worse every year, 1 of the ones from a yr or two ago literally has a black girl boss and a stoner black dude having unskippable phone sex in your ear for like half of missions...
@@beetheimmortal True but this is Rockstar we're talking about. Don't worry, I am heeding all of the warning signs, everything from them removing crossdressing NPC's in GTA5 to the news that they've restructured their company as to not "punch down" in their games. I'm just wanting to huff a little Hopium for GTA6. I joke with my brothers that the first mission of the game will have Jason at a BLM rally apologizing for being White but if that's actually the case then I might just quit modern gaming all together
I'm glad Synthetic Man recommended this video. Not only I agree with the points you've made, but I had already watched your "When a Sim Racer Passes Away" months ago and liked it, but I forgot to subscribe at the time. Great video man
Its refreshing to hear a video game developer who is actually honest about the true agenda that's being pushed, as well as why its being pushed. Great video bro. God Bless.
i never understood why people have to put real world issues/agendas into video games where its a place for people to escape from those issues in a non violent and a sade manner (Edit: Rephased)
adults, we adults are boring, remember that as a kid we thought adult things were irrelevant, we cared about kids stuff, well , this is adults stuff, its hard to explain but as a kid i always thought that adult things where always trying to cover kid's interest, always, its kinda selfish, but its human nature. So now adult devs dont have that inner kid , that escapism thing, that thing that kids value the most, their fantasy. Now adults want to put their real boring world to kid's fantasies . Thats whats happening honestly, im 32 years old, grew up with Donkey Kong, 007, mario , etc.... All of those titles where crafted intentionally to estimulate kids imagination, not adults frustrations
I totally don't get why companies try to appeal this very small but loud part of community that adores left-leaning content in video games. Most of the players couldn't care less about such political agenda in games and are only annoyed with it. I play a game for entertainment and fun, not to be educated on LGBT or diversity.
Prior to the Bud Light disaster, many high-ups believed Twitter was an accurate representation of "the common man." They saw the volume of pride flags in people's bios and thought "I guess everyone is gay now." Nobody told them that Twitter is used exclusively by terminally online types, and bots.
The question is when will companies will finally realize that pushing a real world agenda in video games create a negative prescient where it satisfies no one
Yeah,it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and i dont play those games, especially if they have a few other issues, its more upsetting because it looks like they focus on the agenda rather than the gameplay and world building...its quite sad what kids under 10 today experience I really feel them,10 years ago it wasn't as bad as this
That's exactly why I seriously consider antinatalism. Today's world is oversaturated with egoism and sexualisation. I mean honestly. They're plastering billboards for real products in cities all around Germany that straight up contains the uncensored F-word. I'm definitely not a stick-up-my-arse political correctness white knight, but I would not like to set a child into this society as it is right now.
Never, because it's not about making a profit. It's about pushing, as one drunken Scot said, THE MESSAGE. That's all it is, propaganda at every level so people are always agitated and primed for revolution. This is like socialist takeover 101.
I hope these game development companies realize that people don't want political messages/pandering in their games. We, the consumer that pays our hard earned money for these games, want to be entertained with a good story, good graphics, and intuitive controls. What we do not want is pandering to a specific political party that more than likely will not play the game, or political messages about electric cars being better than gas powered cars (they are NOT better btw). Leave politics to the news, pandering to the politicians, and leave it both of these issues out of sports and video games.
Not all higher-ups are gamers. Many are men with families and kids, who once were big gamers 20 years ago but are now pretty far removed from the gaming sphere. If they sign on Twitter and see tons of pride flags, and visit Kotaku and see half of the articles are social justice think pieces, it leaves them with the impression that this is where gaming is going, and they'd better get with the times. I can assure you that absolutely none of them sit on 4Chan late at night, or follow fringe Instagram accounts, the only places where all of this stuff is intricately dissected within the hour - because the news obviously won't. So we're stuck in this strange sort of purgatory, in which companies are tentatively committing to misguided social activism campaigns until arguments against them disseminate among the public - a process which takes years.
@@AustinOgonoski Out of curiosity, what would you recommend for gamers to do in order to voice their opinion that we don't want this extremist left wing messaging in games? Obviously, developers should be able to make what they want. However it feels more and more like there's a massive divide between the gaming market and the gaming industry.
@@MarkMann1 More youtube vids. More pushback. More negative, well-worded Steam and metacritic reviews. Don't just reviewbomb; put thought into what you say.
At the end of the day gamers are to blame for being braindead consoomers so often. I get that ESG makes "losing money" irrelevant but thats only true on an individual basis. If gamers had any self control and boycotted these propaganda filled crap titles they'd run out of ESG money in a year or two.
True. "BUT MUH CYBERCUCK!" Yeah, you mean the same shitty broken game who's company openly states they take money from ESG, and recently created a DLC for that game where Idris Elba is front and center, a man who said "White people won't allow me to be James Bond"?
That’s the problem. People want to consuuuuume. It’s why the people who say „well it’s not that bad“ are the worst. They are the reason why things are only going to get worse.
Holy shit I'm so glad I found this. Fascinating to witness such an honest dismantling of this bizarre game from someone who was actually involved in the production. Kudos sir
Really great video my dude. I'm extremely sick and tired of these corpos pushing this crazy nonsense into every facet of life. Fast and Furious is already diverse with it's characters. It's crazy how the same studio that made PC/PC2 was basically chasing a phantom audience.
Damn, those sales numbers are shockingly low. I mean, I know it´s not a great game, I own it on XBox One, but less than 5k copies sold on Steam is just insane. That being said, I did enjoy it, but I knew going in that it has a bad reputation. Had a few beers while playing it and had some fun with it. Was at least better than Fast & Furious Showdown.
Seriously underrated video, it definitely needs more views, more exposure. Not sure if it will help, but maybe adding a little something extra to the title might make it easier to find. Either way, excellent video.
Well, this was rather insightful. I'm terribly sorry this was how the game had to come out, thanks to the out of touch higher-ups and outlets. This game doesn't hold a candle to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010). You probably have heard of it and it's my favorite racing game, for the single-player alone.
Something almost like the eras mode in 2k would be sick, You could do something like, Start from the beginning of the 2000 season and see how Nascar might have played out differently based on your decisions, Or go all the way back to the 50s at le mans, How would the world of racing played out without the 1955 disaster? Rights and liscencing would be completely impossible obviously but man would this be absolutely sick.
@@Nascarfan1896 It's not just that, what can be done in a period piece setting. There was a lot of cool shit in the hod rods, choppers, and muscle cars of the 50's and 60's in the US. Plenty of customization as well. In western Europe, there was a lot of tiny companies that wanted to be the next Ferrari and thus a lot of very good sports cars and bikes came out until the oil crisis killed the companies who failed to adapt. It also is an under-explored area for open-world games in spite of extensive variety of scenery. It also has logical places for future expansion because of all the borders and oceans working as a natural boundaries. The two best places in Asia for a car game would be Japan and Australia. Both have time periods worth exploring and plenty of interesting stories, bikes and automobiles. Also, would be interesting to see how quickly people would adapt to driving on the other side of the road.
It's something I'd love to see, I even have a few eras to explore... but being faithful would make the game incredibly annoying to current audiences · FIRST EXAMPLE = Grand Prix Legends except on 2 wheels, let's call it "The Continental Circus" (the nickname for MotoGp back then). Mid 60s MotoGp is maybe the craziest time in 2-wheel racing as most races were on roads and streets, there were no weight limits and no limits on the amounts of cylinders and valves you could have in your engine. Even if you solve the problems of back then like the very variable grid size depending on each race (very few teams raced the full season), you'd still encounter many annoying features. What's so bad? Crashing is lethal, very few motorbikes are actually fast in their class and even then the motorbikes themselves are kinda awful to ride and race. While the 500cc bikes were somewhat-similar to an actual sportbike, the smaller the bike, the closer you got to these speed-focused tiny machines with a usable range sometimes as small as 2000rpm (the engineers compensated that by having 8-speed and 9-speed transmissions on bikes that would rarely get over 110mph) because speed is all that matters when you got a 125cc 1960s engine and many full-throttle sectors are 1-3 miles long. And don't get me started with mechanical failures and death-causing small seizes! · SECOND EXAMPLE = The Strictly Stock era of NASCAR, I'd name this one "Strictly Stock". Once again we find extremely variable entry lists (could be solved), cars that worked in some tracks but were abysmal in others (and some were just shit), the extreme importance of taking care of your car and so on. I have a 12-page document on how to make "Strictly Stock" a reality but I know it'd be extremely hard to sell. I have more examples with games I've written about like the end of the Mille Miglia, a remaster of Spirit of Speed and another one about the pre-manufacturer years of the Dakar Rally but, if they're actually windows into their time, they all have to be extremely peculiar because things no longer work like they used to. The new ways of most things are actually wayyy better than what we used to have and, in some cases, "races" were actually just manufacturer showcases and some were much much much better than others.
I see this as a symptom of a larger issue. I'm constantly amazed by how poor the decision making is of so many of those responsible for high level buisness strategy and marketing is. It seems like they are unbelievably out of touch when that's like half of their entire job. Tbh I feel like one of the dirty secrets of game dev is the fact that most developers don't actually play video games anymore, which is pretty understandable since I can imagine when working on games for your job, that becomes the absolute last thing that you want to do when you get home. Not to mention the large time commitment. Still the fact that these people end up being responsible for dictating games direction and market positioning ends up leading to this desperate attempt to hop on trends and other stuff like performative activism, since they don't actually understand the landscape of the industry they're working in anymore from a consumer perspective. At the same time they don't seek outside guidance in this area because to do so would require admitting how out of touch they truly are. Even those who see the writing on the wall are generally not in a position to where they are able to speak out about it due to a host of workplace culture, hierarchy and social reasons.
Thanks for the work you put into this game. It's a shame it wasn't fully realized and you were hijacked by the mindset of "easy fun all the time" and stupid SJW nonsense.
The thing about Social Justice is that it's not about the medium, the reception or the profit. All that matters is that as many people as possible see their message. Those who accept the message become one of them and those who don't will be found and destroyed. In other words, it's a religion; subscribe or die.
Need for speed most wanted was a sick game in my opinion. I love driving games though and I beat gran turismo 3 completely when I was about 12 years old. Including a class licenses and the really long races. It sucks that they don't really make games like those anymore. Especially without micro transactions. The whole point of gran turismo for instance was unlocking the cars through gameplay. It's not like that anymore. You just swipe for the cars now and it sucked all of the fun out of the game.
I had to pause this video several times thinking this was about NFS Unbound. This game and Unbound are literally interchangeable by the sound of things.
In all honesty: A title like "4,680" sounds cool, but won't help you spread the video - quite the opposite. Might wanna change that. Especially since it's an informative piece of media. Well done.
@@jakedizzle Someone in chat recommended the video to him to watch last night. Funnily enough I think this video got his livestream replay copyright struck (bums at universal studios did this) so now none of us can watch it anymore.
If you target media to 18-24 year-old heterosexual males, then you often also appeal to many other demographics. How else was Fast and the Furious a popular franchise in the first place? Fast cars and hot women also offer some of that lowest common denominator appeal. A complex story has to be translated, so meaning and intent can be lost. Babes and cars don't need translation.
Now that we got the excuse as to why Crossroads was a trash game, what's the reason why Project Cars 3 was a shitshow of a game? I'm sorry you had to work on this, worked your ass off more than likely, I genuinely hope you got paid for every hour you worked on it whether it was crunch or not. But a bad game's a bad game, and that happens.
CvR in Midtown was absolutely amazing. I wish it'd come back in some form honestly EDIT: Oh and Driver SF I'd argue took what you said made Driver great, and improve on it. That game is criminally underrated and a hidden gem and has some fantastic mechanics. Had the original Driver on PC back in the day and anything that has an option to auto handbrake into turns, in a 70s muscle car is a win in my book. Still wish Driver 2 got a PC port, and riv3r, in those few moments it is actually working alright, is actually okay. Then it goes right back to wtf is this shit, moes
How can it be a "criminally underrated" and a "hidden gem" if literally everyone knows about it by now? Save those buzzwords for games that don't have videos about them that have 8.5 million views
@@kalipferd1488 I think people say this because it didn't quite have a high amount of commercial success when it released and generally isn't covered as much by media outlets compared to household name franchises. as a catholic I had to google this to understand it, and maybe you should have too before you posted it because it seems to be a mixture of stuff taken completely out of context and stuff made up entirely. I'm sure you can find some legitimate stuff to criticise judaism about or indeed any religion, so why make things up? that section you claim says this is actually about when a woman is considered a virgin in the context of marriage, there's nothing there about sex with gentile girls. there is a different passage with a similar name that does talk about sex with girls under the age of three, and as far as I can tell it's saying that there is no impact on a girl's legal virginity if she is raped under the age of three. so raping a 2yo doesn't matter *in that specific context* not in a general sense - it's not condoning child rape. I can't find anything that makes a distinction between gentile and jewish three year old girls.

The weird thing is, when you sit down and think about it, a lot of games or kid shows from the 2000s, quite a few of them were pretty well diverse. Another note, I didn't know there was a nonbinary character in the game, I just thought that was a woman with a bad haircut. (9:59) Watching people play this game, I didn't even notice any of this was the agenda, I honest to god thought it was a terrible game regardless
In addition, commercials and media even dating back to the '70s had rather diverse casts, and I truly don't think there's anything woke or forced about how they did it. They never made a big deal about race; at best they supported embracing everyone's differences, which I have no problem with.
@@kpegc Once you start watching media with a bit more critical lens you will realize thing has been going on for quite a while, they've just been quite a bit more subtle about it in the past. The forceful inclusion of minority characters in stories where they don't belong, race-swapping characters,... there are movies in the 90s for instance that will swap the "bad guys" for white men if the perps in the true story were minorities etc. What's happened in the last decade is they no longer care about being subtle and it starts to be extremely noticeable even to the average non informed viewer. You can actually play a game of "how woke is this TV commercial segment" next time you watch TV. In the UK for instance about 2/3 of commercials will have a black person or an interracial couple in it (usually a black man and a white woman). It's gotten so bad that when people are polled and asked how much of the UK population is black they will answer something like 20-30%, when the actual number is more like 3%.
@@kpegcThat's is exactly the problem with modern diversity. Back then everyone was celebrated for their differences. Now everyone is forced to believe that we are all the same, like men being allowed in women's sports. This is not equality, but equity
Those people act like equality never existed until like 2013, they think before then it was some barbaric wasteland where everyone ate eachother for sustenance because pumpkin spice iced tea latte frappuccinos didn't exist or whatever
Its a shame the game never got any traction. A team based multiplayer racing game would be so good, and a breath of fresh air in a time of stagnant progress within the genre. Seeing you chuck those cars around that map at the start was cool, but I imagine it must feel bad to have all the time you spent on that go to waste.
Multiplayer wasn't team-based racing, but rather objective-based car combat. It was too much going on at once, and the physics didn't help. I explained this to the team during development; the reason GTA works because the cars only have a max speed of about 65mph, and environments are intentionally scaled down, so you're effectively driving in slow motion which makes battling with cops or rival gangs/players that much easier. This is the secret behind GTA, hence why there are mods to remove the speed limiter on vehicles. The team was inexperienced at making car combat games (obviously, it's a racing sim studio), and built/scaled all of the levels 1:1 not knowing how important this was to the actual game mechaics, and set vehicle engine characteristics to their real world values (Dom's 69 Charger is indeed lore accurate and a nine-second car - I checked on the drag strip on our physics test map). The end result, was akin to booting Twisted Metal on your PSX emulator, and setting emulation speed to 250%.
Thanks for the great and insightful video. Its so sad to hear that you spent all this time and effort on a game that was set up for failure from the beginning. I bought a used PS4 copy like a 1 year because I usually have a soft spot for bad games. Prior to playing it I had no idea about the political pandering. But with all those political messages, its not a game the type of game "so bad its good" its just terrible. What really confused me when I played it, was the Non Binary character. Because the game only supports the English language and its not my first language. So I got pretty confused when all the characters talked about "they and them" and I only realized half way through the game they werent talking about multiple people, they were using pronouns. Didn't like the game at all.
Of course it was "TheGamer" who posted about it 😂 thats hilarious. Just go have a look at some of the people in change of writing articles over there, no wonder they loved the non-binary character
Thank you for this insight. What annoys me. This game is not the first to fail in this way but they keep doing the same mistakes over and over. Like if it didn't work. Then sure it will not work the 100 time you do it.
Unfortunately, this type of thing continues to increase in the gaming world, and even worse, there will be people defending and saying that this is good just because they don't want to lose their reputation online.
If the game was good it would've sold. If it would've sold there would've been an actual discussion about pandering. Most reviews I remember reading about the game made a passing remark on the inclusive leads being a good thing but that alone wasn't going to save the game. So in the end we didn't have a good game OR a good discussion on identity politics in video games. Interestingly enough your point about young kids figuring out minecraft's complex systems yet being served shitty arcade handling in light of Project cars selling two million copies is EXACTLY why Dakar Desert Rally did not blow up. It's too casual and arcade handling for hardcore rally sim enthusiast (of all ages) yet the navigation is too hardcore for casual racing fans. Meanwhile Dirt Rally games are punishing as hell and sell like absolute fucking hot cakes.
Any chance you can do a piece on that happened to the Red Bull Air Race game? That looked great but appeared to have the handling of a car game in the sky?
The Forza fast and furious game was pretty good and yeah I do agree with you that game development for modern games has shit rock bottom it sucks to see how you'd had to deal with this political agenda ruining the sales of a game that you was doing your best to prefect. Like for example making the cars have weight and actually differences rather than it all being floaty and the same.
Good video. Those were some brutal stats. I feel like failing and then getting better to go on to succeed is a foundational aspect of good video games.
Simpsons Hit & Run. Now that’s a game I haven’t heard in almost 20 years. That just brought back some serious nostalgia for me. You made a great video, nice work
The camera in this beta test is so much better than the retail one, no race mode in both singleplayer annd multiplayer make this FNF fail a big time and the f150 is way too fast compare to other supercars😂And the plot is really too stupid
Making games overly easy ruins the fun. Making games about lgbt or race for no good reason ruin it further. There's the TL:DR that once again depresses me about AAA gaming.
Thanks for making this. Love hearing stories about how this stuff is happening on the inside. I'd also love to hear more about how the decisions were made, who made them, how the meetings went for these topics, how the hiring practices for these people worked, etc.
damn, it really sucks to be in such a lose-lose situation, being a playtester and seeing the game being a failure, while despite having a quite good potential, it ended up being catered to the minority
Reading the reviews, i think that SJW things were really the minor issues compared to very low quality of product itself. Even in comments, barely anyone was raising that issues and just wanted to point how bad this game was. How poorly cars were handling, how story doesn't make sense, how you have to pay 60 USD for 4h long game, how graphics looks like something from early PS3 despite working like shit. Even haters didn't give a shit about social issues.
I can attest to this. I literally did not know anything about the Lefty bullshit until this video actually. I thought it was just yet another low-quality driving game to tie in with a blockbuster release and I just kinda brushed it off all those years ago. All the reviews I saw on it only talked about how bad the product was, not what was in it. Regardless, this was a shit game and I really do hope the execs at the top suffered from this massive L
I might be wrong, but I feel like most of these issues wouldn’t have been there if they didn’t focus so intensely on making sure the game’s woke. It’s just like every modern games, they could release in a finish state if they didn’t put 90% of their time into the god damn store.
@@Soliye. Well i think you overestimate the influence of the one factor. The truth is the game was fundamentally screwed over and lack of that SJW would barely change anything. As a counterargument i can tell you about The Last of US Part 2- game considered by many as woke, but apart from that - at least good product
@@jedlin1256 Well TLoU 2 just has bad writing that's mostly uninteresting (apart from the bits with Ellie and Joel). Not gonna go into detail, but they had time and money. I think people get pissed and blame woke stuff in entertainment because frankly, it CAN feel forced at times. Abby was a shallow character writers wanted you to like, without giving you a reason to. Literally most of the stuff that made TLoU good wasn't in Part 2. They just wanted reactions.
So this Sounds a bit like a sanitized version of the multiplayer mode from 187 Ride or Die? Don't remember it well enough, But even though that game was pretty mid, I did enjoy playing it though. We need some of these Games back, like Interstate, Vigilante 8, and forementioned game. Shame that companies want kids to just stay in the normie comfort zone...glad im not a kid today...i grew up still with ps2-3 games As far as wokeness,i dont get it...companies try to satisfy 0.5% of the population...for 20% not to moan...so 80% actually loses hope from the company...its sad we are going back to manipulation on this level...leave kids develop their own identity and career ...rather than enforcing
Funny you mentioned the journalists as the game got 34/100 from them on metacritic
I second this 💯. The people at the top are reprehensible idiots who think everyone is as shallow as they are.
It's honestly not a bad game. Shame that what was put into it, was.
A bunch of progressive came into the project and casually killed it just to gain some brownie points with people who will never satisfied. That's the short and narrow version of this.
I hope this serves as a cautionary tale for game devs. The first thing a game needs to do is be fun. No one wants a lecture during a videogame.
Story sounds like the most corporate thing ever:
- ignore/don't understand fanbase
- chasing social media trends
- earn a "thanks, but no thanks"
...and they're STILL doing it while acting shocked when the project flops AGAIN.
Or is it nostalgia, I don't really know anymore...
we live in a simulation
I wonder if the two points are linked though. Because it's got an unenjoyable handling model, it's going to not be a fun game to play. Then as a result, they panic when it's too late and go down a route which might work in desperation.
Listen man, for what it's worth, I had a blast with this game. I know it wasn't the intended reaction, but for a solid 6 hours or so, the work you guys put in made me and a small group of friends extremely happy lol
109. Another number worth looking up. Might direct you to the group putting propaganda in video games.
Those who research probably know, but for guys like me who just wants to play one game after a week of working, we don’t know what 109 actually is.

So frustrating to watch this kind of thing happen. You know exactly what's gonna happen but you're powerless to stop it.
It's the same plan modern Hollywood has been taking where they make movies with people who hate the material and hate the audience it's intended for.
@@_Devilthe world was still a sad liberal representation of American history , with all the anti white stereotypes/ world views.

@@LithiumLogica you def have a good pointhere
@@LithiumLogicaYeah, i was basically going to point that out too.
If anything i’d rather see the limitations from back then remain until today.

Sadly, GTA6 is very likely to be like that. You can already see the signs in RDR2.
It definitely wont make "fun of both sides" like every other GTA game, expect constant shitting on right wingers and bad writing in general considering key people at Rockstar have left + the fact that GTA 5 DLC's have gotten worse and worse every year, 1 of the ones from a yr or two ago literally has a black girl boss and a stoner black dude having unskippable phone sex in your ear for like half of missions...
holy shit, prepare to be disappointed with GTA6.

Because escapism distracts people from the agenda so it needs to be made to promote the agenda to ensure people become activists.

@@AustinOgonoski I don't even think most of us know anyone who's active on Twitter in our personal lives. I have never, ever found a use for it.
Sucks you were an internal tester and the game was ass but lets hope that you get a better game to test
The question is when will companies will finally realize that pushing a real world agenda in video games create a negative prescient where it satisfies no one
Yeah,it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and i dont play those games, especially if they have a few other issues, its more upsetting because it looks like they focus on the agenda rather than the gameplay and world building...its quite sad what kids under 10 today experience I really feel them,10 years ago it wasn't as bad as this
What agenda? Monetize the fuck out of everything?
That's exactly why I seriously consider antinatalism. Today's world is oversaturated with egoism and sexualisation. I mean honestly. They're plastering billboards for real products in cities all around Germany that straight up contains the uncensored F-word. I'm definitely not a stick-up-my-arse political correctness white knight, but I would not like to set a child into this society as it is right now.
The answer seems to be becoming more and more - pretty damn well soon.
With or without LGBT Agenda the game was bad Austin. It got soooo many problems
At times, I legit wonder if someone would just do a classic period piece of a driving game. There's so many interesting eras of motorsport to explore.
It's something I'd love to see, I even have a few eras to explore... but being faithful would make the game incredibly annoying to current audiences
· FIRST EXAMPLE = Grand Prix Legends except on 2 wheels, let's call it "The Continental Circus" (the nickname for MotoGp back then).
The real victims here were the few thousand people just looking for a driving game to fuck around in.

Need for speed most wanted was a sick game in my opinion. I love driving games though and I beat gran turismo 3 completely when I was about 12 years old.

@@kpegcThe narcissism is what bothers me.
Diverse casts are cool.
Human interest stories are cool.
Being MADE TO CARE (TM) is not cool.
Yuwu mean to say that less than 1% of the human population (AT MOST) did NOT boost sales beyond previous F&F records?????
F&F Showdown is the most undeservingly hated game ever.
9:45 I wish all that had made it into final. The absolute amount of clowning this stuff was going to get would've been monumental.
Wait, you're telling me all the fans of the fast franchise don't all subscribe to wokeism? I'm shocked! ;)
Thank you for this insight. What annoys me. This game is not the first to fail in this way but they keep doing the same mistakes over and over. Like if it didn't work. Then sure it will not work the 100 time you do it.
All that pandering for nothing.
You won’t say it but I will:
“Get woke, go broke!”
Great vid, appreciate the insight.
Great video man , hope you make more stuff. We need more people who have worked in the industry with stories like yours.
Good video. Those were some brutal stats. I feel like failing and then getting better to go on to succeed is a foundational aspect of good video games.
Hello synthetic man fans
Game journalist are subhuman.
Simpsons Hit & Run. Now that’s a game I haven’t heard in almost 20 years. That just brought back some serious nostalgia for me. You made a great video, nice work
This video brought up a great point, hopefully we can get back on track and start making video games for fun again soon ❤
The camera in this beta test is so much better than the retail one, no race mode in both singleplayer annd multiplayer make this FNF fail a big time and the f150 is way too fast compare to other supercars😂And the plot is really too stupid
The plot is still better than FastX
When testing, I would use debug commands to manually adjust my camera.
There was a time when a movie tie in game could be good. This shit is just sad.
X Men Origins Wolverine is a good game if you can play it.
looks like the handling felt polished before the final product
Subbed, would love to see more commentary vids bro
Kids knew about playing racing games on roblox, i am sure they'd take some realistic physics elements on their games
Go woke go broke is so true , I feel for this guy .
Daily Reminder: Automatic, Manual, CVT, Sequential or Flappy Paddle are the only Trans Rights that matter.
The pride shit is even funnier when you realize that Ian Bell is Ian Bell
What do you mean?
Explain - ?
damn, it really sucks to be in such a lose-lose situation, being a playtester and seeing the game being a failure, while despite having a quite good potential, it ended up being catered to the minority
Your cadence in this sounds identical to the AI commentary vids a while back 🤔
at least it live on in some pirate site
Go Woke Go Broke
Good video. We dont need this crap in games.
I had as much fun wit those as with some multiplayer shooters, maybe a tiny bit more, since I like car driving in games.
FYI I'm pretty sure your title is killing the views on this, is see now what it means but even if people are recommended it they have no clue why they should bother clicking on it.
Shame that companies want kids to just stay in the normie comfort zone...glad im not a kid today...i grew up still with ps2-3 games
As far as wokeness,i dont get it...companies try to satisfy 0.5% of the population...for 20% not to moan...so 80% actually loses hope from the company...its sad we are going back to manipulation on this level...leave kids develop their own identity and career ...rather than enforcing
