  • During late summer and fall, you can find wasps that are slowing down due to colder weather, and limited food. Many of them become stranded, due to weakness and warn out wings which will sometimes fall off towards the end of the season. These immobile wasps are in great need of sugar, which will give them the energy they need. I filled an eye dropper with grape jelly and bottle fed this one-winged paper wasp. Just like any other creature, the wasp stretched out its little neck and drank up the jelly that I offered to it. I hope you enjoy!

Such a refeshing video! I love wasps and as you mentioned, they only sting to protect their nest or if they feel their life is in danger. At the moment, i have a few wasps hibernating in my yurt and i ll definitely try to feed them sugary substances to help them pass the winter!
    Thanks for the touching video!🙏⚘

If a wasp could ever seem cute or lovable, this one was. I used to do this same sort of thing as a kid myself. Great video.

Once again, the answers can always be found in the grape jelly. Beautiful!

thank you so much for this video, im trying to overcome my extreme fear of wasps and basically all flying insects through videos of people being calm around them. its difficult because of the negative view people have on wasps, literally most videos i can find are "torching wasp nest!!!" "exploding wasp nest with bomb!!!" and etc. so i appreciate seeing people treating them with respect.

Thank you. All I could find under any search term on how to help a wasp was met with videos on simple ways to kill them. I've had a lethargic wasp in my kitchen for the past day and wanted to help. They have only wanted water so far.

Thank you for this, as someone who has always feared wasps this is something that brought tears to my eyes. They're just trying to survive like the rest of us.

Thanks for the video, as found a wasp yesterday it didn't seem to be flying it was just walking everywhere. It drank the little bit of water we put down but still didn't seem interested in flying. Now I know to give them something sweet.

Hi miles, earlier that week there was a wasp on the workbench and that's when I got the idea to feed it. It drank the jelly right away from the dropper. I didn't have my camera set up the first time, so I was happy to see another one the following week. I set up the camera, and that wasp responded right away also. Thanks for watching!
