Oh my gosh...I am 75 years old and I STILL turn on my iPad while I am at the breakfast table and watch a rerun of Leave it To Beaver while I am eating breakfast or drinking a cup of coffee. My husband gets the biggest kick out of me, however I also hear him sitting either at the other end of the table, or in the living room laughing at something that is going on in the episode. This show just takes me back to a time when life was so relaxing, and it is just a great time machine. I remember Judy very well, and as an adult, I can watch this and think , "wow...if she was my student, I would not have been as calm as Miss Landers", so that just shows you what a great little actress she was. I adore her character. Absolutely my most favorite of that era. Oh...I can't forget Eddie Haskell...what a character...every good parents nightmare, LOL. The whole cast was remarkable.
Totally agree, Nan. Old shows like "Leave It To Beaver" really do serve as a time machine...a gateway to the past. A perceived kinder and simpler time.
Hi, Miss Nan...love your story . Loved the show then and now ( I'm 66). My favorite episode is the Voo-doo movie one where Eddie pretends to be hypnotized and calls Beaver "master". I call my cat that when I'm being nagged for food... "YES. MASTER. COMING. WITH. THAT. DINNER." I always laugh and think of those two. Great show. God bless.
Was Eddie the older kid about Wally's age? Wasn't he the one that was always trying to dump Beaver and get Wally go somewhere and get into some kind of trouble? Then he'd put on the 'polite boy' act whenever Mrs. Cleaver was nearby! June would roll her eyes or give Wally 'that look.'

This is because your videos stir up memories from my childhood, a period of my life that was the most happy. And, at the same time, I miss the happiness I knew as a child. You're welcome, Steve. Each time I put one of these videos together, I do the same thing. Not that I get all weepy or anything like that...but I do get very nostalgic for a time gone by. Times that may not have really been all that much simpler...but for a young kid...well, they seemed that way.

Judy was the greatest for all the reasons you mentioned...She represented that one horrible kid we all had in our class... You are soooo right, the show was never quite the same when Judy and Larry left....
The Judy character kept the show real. There were several people in my grade school class that were unpleasant. Of course I always preferred being at home to being in school.

I love your posts Dave! So many warm memories of a gentler happier bygone era. I am the NUMBER ONE Leave It To Beaver Fan! Wonderful show with great down-to-earth performances. I do agree that the show did lose something when Rusty Steve s left-they never found another friend for Beaver as perfectly cast as Larry Mondello-not surprising that most of my favorite episodes of the show were those featuring Larry. . To a somewhat lesser extent, the same could be said about Jeri Weil as Judy Hensler and Sue Randall as Miss Landers. Did anyone find it ironic that in one of the last episodes of the show,Wally takes neither Mary Ellen Rogers or Julie Foster to the graduation dance? For a shy guy that Wally had lots of girlfriends!
Larry was cool but Gilbert was my favorite out of Beaver's friends he was hilarious when I was a kid I thought Whitey was it but as a grown man Gilbert is that guy!!
Dave, thanks for these wonderful memories of our youth, I love the way you create your show. Your narration is sooo relaxing, looking forward to the next installment
This is completely out of left field Dave. Kudos for doing this one. As soon as I saw the video title, I was intrigued. Kids today think life goes thru Hollywood and Jeri is a perfect example of someone who preferred to not pursue such a life and was probably happier because of it. I also never heard of that radio show. Thanks for the link. I'll check that out.
Jeri Weil was also on one episode of 'The New Leave It To Beaver,' that went several seasons through the 80s, playing her old Character Judy Hensler. so she did act that one last time and she's still got it! She was excellent.
Her first appearance on Leave It To Beaver was Beaver Short Pants (season 1, episode 11). Judy Hensler played by Jeri Weil. Her last appearance on Leave It To Beaver was Beaver Big Hero (season 4, episode 3). Rusty Steven who played Larry Mondello also appeared on his first appearance, Beaver Short Pants (season 1, episode 11).
Good for her for walking away! And it’s a bit of inference/speculation on my part, but good for her family supporting her! How many stories about troubled child actors include overbearing or manipulative parents? Your looks at the “Leave It To Beaver” cast have been very interesting. I’m starting to think it may have been one of the best collection of actors ever.
I seem to recall young Theodore routinely referring to his tattle-tale classmate as "that creepy Judy Hensler". I knew "Jeri" was the actress' name, but this video made me notice for the first time that she and Jerry Mathers were phonetic namesakes. It's easy to imagine Beaver and Judy maybe maybe going out on a date and maybe hating each other a little less if she had stayed with the show. It's nice to hear that her adult life has been enjoyable and fulfilling. It seems like that cast had a lot of well-grounded young people in it.
I think you're right, Dr.Quizzler. For the most part, it was a well grounded group of kids. A couple of them struggled for a bit...but even they were able to turn things around. And Jerry and Tony seem rock solid!
Yeah.. I Liked She Really Enjoys Her life to the point of ACTUALLY BEING SURPRISED That She Has So Many Fans WANTING To See Her Again and NEEDING Her Autograph. That Is Truly Precious. I Just Really like And Respect that Woman. This was Nice. 🤠🖖
Robert Telarket Or actors in general. It’s like any other business, even though they’re so conceited they call it “THE Business.”🙄. Not everyone is a great salesman, accountant, whatever. Then you change jobs. Like everyone else. It fits, or it doesn’t.
Well done, Dave. I always found Judy's presence grating the very second she came into the scene, knowing she was no good for the Beave and it would result he lots of fun! /:-)
Thank you so much for producing this wonderful and enjoyable videos. All the graphics and the background music and the research that goes into these little gems takes much time and thought. I’m glad this gal got away from show business. She was great on the show. I’d be mad too if they made me wear stupid little bangs and pigtails forever too. Stephen Talbot “Gilbert”’next please. He was the little dude who did a great job after Rusty Stevens left. He didn’t try to copy Larry’s tune. He played his own fiddle and I really enjoy watching him egg on The Beaver. ☮️
Larry Mondello (Robert "Rusty" Stevens) was the best friend / foil / frenemy the Beav ever had on the series! Stevens' mom was such a pain to the producers, they were forced to get rid of the Larry character. Larry either got the Beav in one mess after another or sometimes helped him out. Either way, I always missed Larry after he was gone after the 3rd season (1959-60). The show soldiered on for its last 3 seasons (1960-63), but it was never the same hilarious series with episodes centering around the Beaver without apple-munching Larry. Robert Stevens is also alive, as is Jerry Mathers, Tony Dow, Ken Osmond, and Jeri Weil, who is one month older than Jerry.
A lot of these shows were never as good when the child actors got older. When Beaver got to middle school age it just wasn't the same. Same with Opie(Ron Howard) as he grew up.
Great job following up on this forgotten yet memorable character actress. You are right show was not the same without her but fortunately we had Eddie Haskell and Lumpy Rutherford to fill the gap. Wish you would do a video on Lumpys dad who went on to play Mel Cooley on Dick Van Dyke show he was a classic guy too
I grew up on this stuff. I haven't seen an episode in 35 years. And I can name every cast member and characters like Judy are still vivid in my head. I compare it to other shows that I haven't seen in decades. The memories are less vivid. Secondary characters have faded from sight. I think it's quite a testament to the quality of the show that Leave it to Beaver isn't like that and the memories from that show live on forever.

the fact that as she grew older and the producers and make up people did things to her to make her look younger.... from what I hear can be a real pain. Judy Garland went through the same thing when filming Wizard of OZ. from what I've read the studio make--up people had her wraped up like a mummy under her clothes to make her look younger once mother nature hit her and she begain to develop and blossom. Hollywood is known for making the actor's life miserable back in thoses days.

It’s been many years, yet when I watch an episode I remember very clearly what will happy. I was lucky enough to meet Jerry “ Beaver “ years ago. He was so nice to talk to.
I also liked little lulu. When I was a kid us kids would come in the front door after school but beaver and Wally came in the back. Where the kitchen is. They would put their lunch box on the counter and take their jackets off and homework if any. Like they had a hard day. I know I felt some days at school was hard. Enjoyed the show. 📚📚
Scuttlebutt says Uncle Billy left Mayfield, changed his name to Joe Carson and moved to Hooterville through the Witness Protection Program. It's been said that he doublecrossed the Gambino crime family.
For me, it was Eddie Haskell!! "Hey, where ya been, Beav, out scarin' babies?" Laughed like hell first time I heard that one!!! I was very happy to hear that Ken Osmond has led a very good, productive life. 😊😊💖💖✝️⚜️
I know that girl on Leave it to Beaver that you talked about she's an antagonist she's a tattletale but when I was growing up when I was a kid I always looked at her as a bit Shore as an instigator or tattletale but but that's just being an actress she wasn't like that in real life and but I appreciate what it is you know and with her going on to selling real estate again I appreciate her being in my television life and I was watching TV like Leave It to Beaver
She was my favorite villainess in the show. My favorite scene was where she actually visited Beaver at home. Beaver was up in his room. When June announced that Judy was downstairs, Beaver yelled down, "Tell her to get lost!"
Mrs. Cleaver acquardly replied, while waiting for Beaver to get down stairs, "Well, you know the Beaver..." Just saw this & couldn't believe Judy dared step inside the Cleaver house! What a fake suck up agenda she came with that day...
Judy, Judy, Judy, as handsome Cary Grant would say, oh but these kids were such good actors, you had to love them all, even Judy!! I almost forgot about her, althea kids were a little scared of her which was really funny! It's like, "Oh no, here comes Judy!" She was a great addition to the school scenes! p.s.
Thanks so much, ohiowalnut! I am so glad that you are enjoying my videos. 🙂
Thank you for sharing this. I had forgotten about her.
You're welcome, Kelly!
I think you'll enjoy Torchy's stuff, Scott.
It's kinda cool that the actress simply retired for good after losing her role in the show. Chose a different career. Unusual.
Yep. What's most unusual is that it really appears that she never looked back!
Actually it's unusual that so many actors don't do likewise.
Robert Telarket Or actors in general. It’s like any other business, even though they’re so conceited they call it “THE Business.”🙄. Not everyone is a great salesman, accountant, whatever. Then you change jobs. Like everyone else. It fits, or it doesn’t.
Larry Mondello left acting too.
I've been watching reruns..it's such a wholesome show. Reminds me of a time of morals and ethics. 😊
It certainly was a different time. Not everything was better back then...but things certainly did seem simpler.
You have a great voice and an entertaining way of putting this together. So many memories watching leave it to beaver. Thanks.
Thanks Patricia!
Well done, Dave. I always found Judy's presence grating the very second she came into the scene, knowing she was no good for the Beave and it would result he lots of fun! /:-)
Thanks John!
She had an in-born hostility towards the Beav.
The leave it to beaver version of Lucy from Charlie Brown
So true, Sean!
BINGO!
Exactly. When Lucy appeared on screen, I would leave the room and go do something else. Anything else.
Listened to the interview on the Baby Boomers site. It was awesome!
TheWALLofMusic what is the name of the site?
@Onion Ring. I've posted a link to the Baby Boomers Talk Radio site in the description field of this video.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, ibrakeforbutterflies!
@@jdsundstrom " 'By
Beav, I gotta go home now!"
"But Gilbert, where ya goin', Gilbert?!?"😉😉😉✝️⚜️
Hahaha...you nailed that! Gilbert always has to go home NOW all of a sudden. He’s currently on almost every episode in season 4 on MeTV now. ☮️
"egg on", the perfect adjective for Gilbert!
Gilbert did a horrible job and was an abysmal replacement for Larry.
My FAVORITE character on the show !! Thanks for posting.
As a kid, I didn't understand how she got away with that attitude. I also wanted her to become nice. I liked her braids and clothes though.
Thank you for sharing these fun videos! I'm a big Leave It To Beaver fan and love learning more about behind-the-scenes information.
Thanks for posting this vid Dave!
You're welcome, Darrell!
Thanks, Dave!
You're welcome, Deborah!
I like her and larry when they left the show was never the same
Loved the show, but your right after they left, the show changed, it was still ok but something was missing
Agree
I liked her and Larry both.
Wish you would do a video on Lumpys dad who went on to play Mel Cooley on Dick Van Dyke show he was a classic guy too
Wesley Hackney ... Richard Deacon. He had quite a few appearances in quite a variety of shows.
Great suggestion, Wesley! I'll add Richard Deacon to my potential topics list.
Wesley Hackney:Sadly Richard Deacon passed away in 1984.
I picture her holding the football for the Beave until his foot almost touches it, then she yanks it away and he lands on his back. AAUGH!
Yes! She was very much Lucy to Theodore's Charlie Brown. 🙂
I never thought of that before but you're right. Judy was like Lucy!
LMAO... UHKAAY!!!
Great job Dave love your shows!!!!!! Happy belated birthday 😊
Thanks KK!
This is great!!! Judy was definitely a thorn in Beaver's side. So glad to know that Jeri Weil was nothing like her.
The cast of friends on the show were 👍🏿
I’d never thought about the show changing when Judy and Larry left, it I believe you’re right.
I love your Channel and you always surprise me with great info of my favorites from the past keep up the great work and please do a story on Hugh Beaumont
Thanks Slick Mic! And don't worry...Hugh will definitely get his due!
@@jdsundstrom thanks Dave for your response I remember mr. C of Happy Days was voted America's favorite TV dad but I always thought it was mr. Cleaver I love your vids
Thanks for another great and informative video...
You're most welcome, TPR!
@@jdsundstrom I ❤ Leave it to Beaver.very under-rated.it really was a cut above the rest.I can't believe Barbara and Hugh were in their 40s when they filmed it.
the fact that as she grew older and the producers and make up people did things to her to make her look younger.... from what I hear can be a real pain.
Great comment, Patrick!
I heard that too. Glad to know she had a fallback plan.
Thx. Dave!. It's always interesting to find out what happened to these people from old shows like Beaver. I wonder what happened to Penny? She was almost as big of a pain as Judy!
*Karen Sue Trent* she played Lorrie on last episode of *The Rifleman* also was on *Wagon Train* and found out she was in film *The Garden of Eden* as baby/toddler it was about a _Nudist Colony_
jon wilson She has a facebook. She goes by Karen Trent. She lives in Buckhannon, West Virginia
Great suggestion, Jon. I'll add Karen Trent to my potential topics list.
I bought the whole set of DVDs, expensive, but so worth it. I'm addicted. I grew up on the Beaver.
There was always one if not two anoing pain in the bit just like her in everyone of my classes as a kid. I can still remember their faces and names and I'm 70.AMAZIMG.
Thanks for posting. 👍👍👍👍
You're most welcome, Fred!
I love watching that show and I love to laugh they was so funny I just wonder about people like that what ever happened to them thanks for sharing 💖
Damn, really incredible how you track down this info! Thanks for posting brother!
Great site. I enjoyed learning about Jeri’s life after Beaver. Happy to know she had a good life. Ive been watching Leave it to Beaver since Tony Dow passed. I watched the show when I was little. It’s been many years, yet when I watch an episode I remember very clearly what will happy. I was lucky enough to meet Jerry “ Beaver “ years ago. He was so nice to talk to.
Thanks again,Buddy! Another great vid. From your Friend, Kyle F
Thanks Kyle!
On his way to Hooterville he worked as a handyman traveling through Mayberry.
Became Uncle Joe!
In Petticoat Junction!
He was actually a Veteran
Actor in many Western
Series of the 60's.
🤣🤣🤣
Then he moved to Mayberry S. Carolina and changed his name to Mr Wheeler and became a handyman & a love interest of Aunr Bea's !
Really enjoyed this ♡
Glad you enjoyed!
I always loved Jeri Weil. The best. Made me laugh all the time. I knew girls just like her. Lol
I watch this show every morning on METV. ❤️
this was good fun. "Leave It To Beaver" is one of my favorites. wally was my crush.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Sophie!
For me, it was Eddie Haskell!!
"Hey, where ya been, Beav, out scarin' babies?"
Laughed like hell first time I heard that one!!!
I was very happy to hear that Ken Osmond has led a very good, productive life.
😊😊💖💖✝️⚜️
Good, clean comedy
She made us all think she was a pain in the rear. Played her part very well.
Thank you for liking my comment about the the girl the classmate from Leave it to Beaver
You don't like periods, do you?
Happy belated birthday, Dave🎂
Thanks Stephen!
Thanks, I always wondered what happened to creepy Judy, thanks for acting on it so quickly
Judy Hensler, "the meanest girl in the whole school".....
That's what The Beaver would say
Boy Beaver--Your in trouble now--Waitll I tell Miss Landers!!!
She was my favorite villainess in the show. My favorite scene was where she actually visited Beaver at home. Beaver was up in his room. When June announced that Judy was downstairs, Beaver yelled down, "Tell her to get lost!"
Yes! Wonderful television moment!
Mrs. Cleaver acquardly replied, while waiting for Beaver to get down stairs, "Well, you know the Beaver..." Just saw this & couldn't believe Judy dared step inside the Cleaver house! What a fake suck up agenda she came with that day...
That's when Judy comes over to Beavers house to ask him how he got his bus riding privileges back after she got banned from riding the bus
Judy, Judy, Judy, as handsome Cary Grant would say, oh but these kids were such good actors, you had to love them all, even Judy!! I almost forgot about her, althea kids were a little scared of her which was really funny! It's like, "Oh no, here comes Judy!" She was a great addition to the school scenes! p.s. Little Lulu was one of my favorite comics! Thanks Dave! Keep them coming!
Susan R ... Or, JudyJudyJudy as Goober would say.
You're welcome, Susan! Great comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
@@JW...-oj5iw Oh yeah, how could I forget Goobers great imitations??? Shame on me!! And I loved the humble Goober!!
