The "portable SVHS recorder" is actually the "recorder" part of a dockable video camera. The idea was the lens and video format could be modular and interchangeable. So good thing you didn't buy it.
Oh hey, one of the record players you zoomed in on there was one I wanted to try to get hold of, an SL-6! I like the design a lot. (And yes, I did absolutely hear about it from the mentioned Techmoan. I'm not very knowledgeable about audio stuff outside of what I've learned about on RUclips...)
