Pro tip for using pathes: When removing multiple squares of the same path, you should remove the pathes with the grass path. Otherwise, you’ll either place another path on top of it or you’ll end up rounding off the path.
im really trying to get to three stars, i really cant seem to find other fruits which is what isabelle keeps telling me to and im getting so frustrated
i have some tips to get 3 stars if you want ^^ #1. you need 8 villagers #2. plant trees and flowers #3. have almost no weeds on your island #4. add about 50 pieces of fencing #5. you need furniture placed outside (a lot of it) #6. talk to isabelle and do what she asks for ^^
Another little tip I feel a lot of people don't pay enough attention to: do a little bit at a time. Don't go all out because you will likely need to move buildings, pay for bridges and inclines, and more. Do a tiny bit at a time, even if it is just checking your island the next day to make sure that building has been moved or you still feel happy with how you've terraformed this or that area.
Oh man I had such huge terraforming plans when I first started the game, so I flattened out my entire island and destroyed my river systems wanting to start completely from scratch... Now I just want my native island back because I actually liked my initial layout 😭😭
i'm currently working on some transforming and just letting youtube go where it wants. i have a few inspirational screenshots on my phone. serendipitously your entry way is one of them! I love your circular tiers with the waterfalls!
I’ve had ACNH since launch and have only just now gotten a 3 star island. KK is performing tomorrow. Never terraformed before so this video was much appreciated.
Thanks for this! I got the game on Christmas Eve, and I haven’t terraformed much yet, and so far I’ve just destroyed a bunch of cliffs, made a small soon-to-be house neighborhood thingy and moved Dizzy’s house to it, started on an idea for a campsite hill (but stopped halfway cause Able Sisters is in the way), flattened out a pathway to Redds, made a river hill thingy, and yeah. I’ll update if u want me to once I get stuff done.
Great. This video is giving me the urge to flatten my island and redo it. If only we can only move the Residential Services area, it would make terraforming better.
Thanks for uploading this and your other videos. I bought switches and ACNH for my girlfriend and I for Christmas, so I'm sure I'll be binging your videos before and after then to give myself a semblance of knowing what I'm doing.
I have finally unlocked Terraforming and I am still trying to get into it, lol. I loved your demo, thanks for sharing. now i just have to find the time to do all that there, lol
I love New Horizons, but yesterday I went back to check on my New Leaf town. That game has a special vibe that New Horizons just can’t capture. I’d also like to note the entire populous of my town presumed I had died.
Also! It's worth noting that you can fill in waterfalls from the lower level (at the bottom of the waterfall), but you cannot create them - which can be handy, but also super annoying when you do it by accident and have to climb back up again to fix it.
@ Those still learning terraforming: plan projects like larger hearts out carefully, knowing that it has to have at least *three* blocks in the middle for when you're trying to make rounded (filleted? lol) edges. I have been hurt many times by inadequate planning and finding out I had only two blocks for edges I wanted to fillet 😥 Cliffs can also be really handy for creating effects involving creating walls with 0.5x2 items, like making a library with bookshelves, where you have bookshelves on the lower level, and make a cliff immediately behind with another set of bookshelves on top. They can also be used to make 'fake' bridges with tall items like jail bars either side (on the lower level) for 'rails'. They can be used to create 'buildings', with customised simple panels in front of the cliff edges to create doors/windows/walls. In big areas that are based on a cliff, you can also create lower levels for things like making 'swimming pools' or valleys - just note that you have to dig a pathway inwards from the edge of the cliff to start creating the crater. Once you've started, you can then seal off the pathway and use your ladder to get up and down (basically, you can't dig down!). Buildings and bridges can't be put too close together, and bridges can only be so close to a cliff edge (their restrictions on where bridges can go is so tricky to navigate!) I like making a grid on a piece of paper (or printing a grid used for maths/etc) and using that for designing shapes and areas, and figuring out the minimum number of squares I need! There's also some nice 3D and 2D island planners out there - they can be a bit slow, but give a nice idea and are SO useful for figuring out how many squares buildings take up & where you might like to place them before doing the whole 'hey nook, pls move this building, don't worry, I'll check back tomorrow, oh no it's the wrong place, wait what do you mean I have to wait several days to move my villager's house again?'. Buildings also can't be moved in increments (like, one block to the left), so misplacing them can mean it takes several days to fix (without time-travelling, that is) 🤦♂️
You can also save stairs (if you're running out) by creating 1-2 square canyons between two cliff edges - that way, you can use those pathways to travel between lower levels, but the cliffs remain connected enough that you can just jump across (rather than having to place stairs to go down & up again). You can build singular cliffs with 1-2 squares between to hop between areas, and cover them up a bit with panels/bookshelves/etc. You can't paint pathways/dirt/etc directly under you, so make sure they're put down before cutting off any 1x1 square areas (as you can't just use a ladder and paint a path on it, with it directly under you)! Same goes for placing (most) items.
To see if fish will spawn somewhere, grab some bait and try to scatter it. If you can successfully scatter bait, the water area is large enough to spawn fish! Otherwise, the game tells you there's no fish that can spawn. Good luck and happy terraforming!
Me so happy when you got exited when you corrected yourself, here’s the quote “ we gots a river mouth yayyy, or not a river mouth, we gots a circlish thing yayyyy circlish thing!
The "it's flat, now what?" is why I went out of my way to maintain the general state of my natural island, and expand and terraform following it. I'll move that river down to get rid of that useless space behind Resident Services and the Cranny, but I'm not like making whole new rivers and stuff. Probably the only really radical changes I've made are hollowing out part of the tier-one cliff and making a waterfall windflower valley inside, and expanding the other side of the cliff into a giant square flower-breeding area...
fun fact my parents got animal crossing and me and my sister (and no we dont share 1 animal crossing game) but when i see my dad play i always see this heart shaped pond that my father did to my mother...and now telling people makes me cringe but you know :) i might make people laugh so its worth it ;)
Quick Question because I’m still kinda clueless: Do you get your flat island and terraforming at the same time? Another question just please reply: Will you be able to move houses to another place in terraforming? Thank you for this video! Omg! ✌️ This helped me sooo much.
You got that VHS rewind/skip working well in the end. How long did that take?...You complete 3 different versions of the effect then go back to the one you first created?...

Why the same
I’m not proud of my hours in this game ..,
Me too don’t worry!
Lol, rather than simply being a terraforming tips video, this encapsulates perfectly how irritating terraforming can be.
