    Wolf Herring also called Ikan Parang in Malay is a sea fish. A sub species can also be found in fresh water. Mine is a sea fish. this fish is like a blade of a knife, slim and long with 2 big eyes and no scales. It has a lot of thin long bones. To make fish ball, your fishmonger will scrape the flesh off the bones into small round balls of white flesh, and that is what is sold to the customer as fish balls. Rinse it in water and start to cook to make a nice sambal. Enjoy !!!
    Recipe :-
    Ingredients :-
    Chili Paste :-
    D.Chili - 50 gms
    Big Onion - 1
    Shallots - 3
    Garlic - 3 cloves
    Groundnuts - 10
    Grind the above to a fine paste and set it aside.
    Fish Ball - 12
    Oil - 4-5 tbsp
    Big Onion - 2 sliced
    Garlic - 10 cloves
    Tomato - 1 big
    Chili paste
    Chili powder - 1 tsp
    Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
    Tamarind extract - 2tbsp
    Sugar - 1/2 tsp
    Salt to taste.
    . Heat oil and add in the crushed garlic , sliced onion and stir until translucent.
    Then add in the curry leaves and then the chopped tomatoes.
    Once well combined and soft add in the chili paste followed by chili powder, turmeric powder and give a good stir to combine.
    Then add in the tamarind extract and salt.
    once well simmered and oil starts to float add in the fish ball and give a second stir to combine well and cook in for a minute. Add in the sugar and simmer few minutes.
    Serve hot with coconut rice or plain rice. Enjoy !!
