      I like the idea that we got so used to seeing people like Obi Wan, Dooku, Anakin, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Palpatine, that we forgot they are each in and of themselves able to give a masterclass in lightsabre combat. We're seeing the best of the best. It's cool that the series has toned down the skill of other actors by comparison; Hayden feels like an immensely powerful threat.

      Simply; they have no masters, no one to teach them. They probably know no forms at all. I’m not trying to validate the sequels but that is an objective fact. Anakin and Ashoka are temple trained. Much like how a knight in our reality would probably be better than someone who never was trained in Hema or melee combat.

      If a Knight came back there's a good chance they would body most HEMA veterans, just due to the fact they STUDIED and TRAINED everyday for years on the actual full treatise, and were trained by masters of them

    So many things I love about this scene.
    1. The Call back to Return of the Jedi. Also the call back to revenge of the sith. Where he turns his back to draw his lightsaber with his right hand. Almost like a small gesture of honor. Similar to how before all Jedis duel, they remove their robes and take their handle in their hands and ignite the saber. It's Anakins own little routine. That's very cool and It's very Jedi like. Love how he kept that.
    2. This whole scene is reminiscent of Jaro Tapol and Cal Kestis. A Master reaching his apprentice from the afterlife to still teach them a life changing lesson to renew their mindset and value systems.
    3. Anakins lightsaber fighting style. He locks sabers first to assess the strength of his opponent, then he uses his own power and strength from his feet to push down and that pushes Ahsoka further back. Anakin is so light on his feet, yet he deals devastating consecutive powerful blows with each saber swing. It overwhelms his opponents and pressures them to uncomfortably be on the defensive. This makes them vulnerable. His offense is so overwhelming, that it leaves his opponents little to no time to react and counter. They mainly block and try to recover. Anakin is always in control of the fight. His attacks are powerful and lighting fast. His attacks then leaves them open. Which gives Anakin opportunities to capitalize off of their mistakes. Much like when he faced Dooku. He's still managing to gracefully step in place. His footwork is exceptional. He has terrific balance. And he's in control of the whole fight. Moving her where he wants her to move. It seems like combat comes to him so effortlessly and naturally. It also seems like something he enjoys, and also looks like its something he misses. Especially the one handed saber twirl he does. That's always been the coolest saber move to me! It's so great to have Star Wars’s main character back. The entire Saga is about Anakin and to have him back feels so right. It's amazing. Hayden knocked it out of the ballpark. We need more.

      How do you know so much about fighting styles?

    • @joshawottva
      @joshawottva Год назад +60

      I love your analysis of Anakin's skills/Hayden's performance. In the lore, Anakin's fighting style, Djem So, focuses on aggression and overpowering his opponent with sheer, force-augmented strength. It's genius that he would initiate with a saber lock to gauge his opponent's strength-- plus from a viewer's perspective it's such a cool way start to a fight.
      Also it's neat that Hayden's athleticism and passion for saber choreography parallels Anakin's hot temper and love of combat. For Anakin, fighting in the Clone Wars was an outlet for his aggression and anger, much like how for Hayden, playing Anakin is an outlet for his own energy and love of choreography.

    Back when the Prequels came out, I used to think Hayden wasnt the right fit. Wooden even as an actor. He's come a long way and I'm now convinced he really is the perfect Anakin and Darth Vader. I hope he keeps finding his way back into the role as it is.

      I don't need to go back in time that far. I would have rather seen him doing the sequels. However that might have turned out, it would have been better than the 3 movies that we have now...

      @@bossrangoon3711 he easily bought fan’s love by giving them what they want, seeing Anakin in emotional relationships. That’s it. He’s insanely overrated. They saw Anakin in an episode and they scream Masterpiece… the SW standards have drops significantly through the years. And I love Anakin myself.

    Seeing the clone wars scene is genuinely amazing. All the V1 suits, them being actual people rather than CG, really makes the scene feel like...an actual scene. Not dissing the CG in The trilogy movies, I think they look great, but its nice to not see a CG group of clones

    Ah! Anakin at prime with both the light and dark. It’s so good! Hayden did an incredible job returning. It could not be anyone else and sell that level of power and control but also ferocity like he did.

    Feels weird seeing anakin so wise and stoic…considering Hayden’s anakin I always associated as a overly emotional time bomb waiting to happen.
    But even so…Hayden nailed it here. I love it

    I smiled when he called her Snips again. I also love the setting. This isn't the first time we've seen it. The paths looking like their made of light is so cool. I also love that the memories of the war are shrouded in haze to give the impression that this is a relived memory and to give it an ethereal feel.
