What’s crazy to me is that everybody else handles the lightsabers so slowly in the new movies and series. But then Hayden comes in and he’s still lighting fast and puts everybody to shame. He’s just THAT good

I like the idea that we got so used to seeing people like Obi Wan, Dooku, Anakin, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Palpatine, that we forgot they are each in and of themselves able to give a masterclass in lightsabre combat. We're seeing the best of the best. It's cool that the series has toned down the skill of other actors by comparison; Hayden feels like an immensely powerful threat.

Simply; they have no masters, no one to teach them. They probably know no forms at all. I’m not trying to validate the sequels but that is an objective fact. Anakin and Ashoka are temple trained. Much like how a knight in our reality would probably be better than someone who never was trained in Hema or melee combat.

Ahsoka was trained to be a warrior. The only way Anakin could teach her was to put her life at risk and fight her. So many things I love about this scene.
    1. The Call back to Return of the Jedi. Also the call back to revenge of the sith. Where he turns his back to draw his lightsaber with his right hand. Almost like a small gesture of honor. Similar to how before all Jedis duel, they remove their robes and take their handle in their hands and ignite the saber. It's Anakins own little routine. That's very cool and It's very Jedi like. Love how he kept that.
    2. This whole scene is reminiscent of Jaro Tapol and Cal Kestis. A Master reaching his apprentice from the afterlife to still teach them a life changing lesson to renew their mindset and value systems.
    3. Anakins lightsaber fighting style. He locks sabers first to assess the strength of his opponent, then he uses his own power and strength from his feet to push down and that pushes Ahsoka further back. Anakin is so light on his feet, yet he deals devastating consecutive powerful blows with each saber swing. It overwhelms his opponents and pressures them to uncomfortably be on the defensive. This makes them vulnerable. His offense is so overwhelming, that it leaves his opponents little to no time to react and counter. They mainly block and try to recover. Anakin is always in control of the fight. His attacks are powerful and lighting fast. His attacks then leaves them open. Which gives Anakin opportunities to capitalize off of their mistakes. Much like when he faced Dooku. He's still managing to gracefully step in place. His footwork is exceptional. He has terrific balance. And he's in control of the whole fight. Moving her where he wants her to move. It seems like combat comes to him so effortlessly and naturally. It also seems like something he enjoys, and also looks like its something he misses. Especially the one handed saber twirl he does. That's always been the coolest saber move to me! It's so great to have Star Wars’s main character back. The entire Saga is about Anakin and to have him back feels so right. It's amazing. Hayden knocked it out of the ballpark. We need more.

How do you know so much about fighting styles?

    • @joshawottva
      @joshawottva 7 месяцев назад +52

I love your analysis of Anakin's skills/Hayden's performance. In the lore, Anakin's fighting style, Djem So, focuses on aggression and overpowering his opponent with sheer, force-augmented strength. It's genius that he would initiate with a saber lock to gauge his opponent's strength-- plus from a viewer's perspective it's such a cool way start to a fight.
Also it's neat that Hayden's athleticism and passion for saber choreography parallels Anakin's hot temper and love of combat. For Anakin, fighting in the Clone Wars was an outlet for his aggression and anger, much like how for Hayden, playing Anakin is an outlet for his own energy and love of choreography.

AHSOKA TANO stands in the mysterious realm of the World Between Worlds. Suddenly, the familiar figure of her old master, ANAKIN SKYWALKER, appears before her in his translucent Force ghost form.
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      (Smiling)
Snips, nice to see you. You got old but still look hot.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Grinning)
And you haven't changed one bit, Sky Guy...
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      (Chuckling)
Some things never change, I suppose.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Curiously)
So, what's the lesson today, Master?
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
You need more "training," Ahsoka. Lightsaber lessons.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Suggestively)
Oh, lightsaber lessons? What kind of lesson Master?
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      (Smiling)
Come closer, and I'll show you.
Ahsoka smirks, reminiscing about her days as a Padawan.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Playfully)
Lightsaber lessons... Brings back memories of my Padawan days. Haven't seen a "lightsaber" like that in years.
She adopts a playful, innocent demeanor, teasing Anakin.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Sweetly)
What kind of lightsaber is this, Master?
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      (Playing along)
Well, come closer, and I'll demonstrate.
Ahsoka, with a flirtatious smile, begins to walk towards Anakin, ready to engage in their "training."

ANAKIN SKYWALKER and AHSOKA TANO continue their "training" amidst the swirling energies of the World Between Worlds. Anakin stands behind Ahsoka, his presence comforting yet electrifying. His "lightsaber" penetrates Ahsoka's depths, eliciting a moan of pleasure from her lips as all her muscles swiftly contract and relax in response.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Loudly, breathlessly)
Damn, Sky Guy... I needed that!
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      (Smirking)
You're still my exotic alien apprentice.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Blushing, panting)
I haven't done that in years...
With a smile she recalls the times she "trained" with a whole clone trooper division.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Reflectively)
Back then I would... "train" with the entire clone trooper division.
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      (Playfully)
As part of your Jedi training, of course.
He adds with a wink before getting back to the matter at hand.
      ANAKIN SKYWALKER
      Ready for more, Snips?
Ahsoka's hunger for challenge is evident as she eagerly responds.
      AHSOKA TANO
      (Hungry expression)
      Bring it on, Master!
With determination and desire, they continue their intimate "training" session, fully immersed in the energies of the World Between Worlds.
