@@DorothyThompson-y9bjelly roll rugs are so much fun to make. You either like them or you don't. And once you get started, you can't stop. A great way to get the batting is contact a longer. But they throw away when they longarm quilts, is perfect for cutting down for rugs!
Your demonstration was very thorough, few folks actually share real tips. I've made many but sporadically and on a basic Brother jx 2517. I have to use walking foot and have no lower bobbin setting, tension is always a struggle but haven't had anyone complain yet! Just made a few placemats and a bowl. Need some tips on a smooth transition at the end, also how to splice l, add into last strip after cutting ✂️ it off.
I think when I cut the tubes I cut it wrong...I could have sworn I was told to cut NOT on the bias so that's what I did. However, when Ihad the tubes ready, it was a nightmare to put together so I wound up throwing away everything....did I do this wrong?
I'll need some more information. No I don't cut my fabric on the bias. Send me some pictures and tell me exactly what you mean by everything went wrong. They should just nestle right into the crack
That's a tricky question. You will figure it out as you do it. That's part of the advantage of sewing in person. You can pull to the back or loosen to the side. You will know if your tension is right if it's laying flat. The cool thing about sewing with a zigzag is very easy to seam rip. If you don't like it, take the time to take it out and try again. Perfecting the tension simply comes with practice.
@@yogawayoflife542 ok thank you. Yea Iv noticed it changes with different stitches. The stitch breaks when the tension is off. Iv got a toddler dress made and a pillow case... deff a learning curve.
@@jessannchittum9360 You really touched the tension on the machine. If your thread is breaking that could be a completely different issue. It could be that your needle is dull or that the thread is not of high quality. I love aurifil. It's very strong yet not overly thick. Are you using denmin. The needle needs to be heavy enough to go through all the thickness. Once you have your tension set correctly on your machine you should really never adjust it
@@yogawayoflife542 thank you I will deff get a get that needle and better thread. I bought cheap just bc I’m a beginner and just practicing but tried on extra fabric to see if my machine could handle the thickness before I start this project. I have my tension perfect for simple projects and know exactly where it needs to be but I will play with it before I start and see if I can use it where it is.
I love that I can actually see you sewing the rug together! So very helpful
So helpful! Great job showing and explaining this particular section of the rug. Thank you so much!!
Your video answered several questions I have, thank you so much. This is my first rug so I am not expecting perfecting.

Excellent job ladies. This video is exactly what I needed

Tip: press each small curve with an iron before sewing, goes much smoother, also use a metal presser foot, not plastic- for better control.
Do you have part 1
Please (camera person) show us the needle and presser foot, where all the action happens. Not so much on her hands. Thx
It always scares the crap out of me when I break a needle! Happens to everyone eventually, right?😂
