Marjorie Lord in a pre-"Make Room For Daddy" role. Always gave a great performance. Here she portrayed the adoptive mother with poise and sympathetic grace.😊
I'm trying to watch this video but someone sabotaged it by adding commercials. They are relentless. They won't allow the video to play.
The voiceover saying "Racket Squad" sounded like a parrot.😁
R-r-r-r-r-racket Squad!😛
I’m 60 so too young to remember this one. But I’m embarrassed to say I never heard the phrase “confidence man” which obviously is where the Conman moniker came from. I just never considered where Conman came from. More proof the learning is never done.
Marjorie Lord was a good actress. She was so sweet in Johnny Come Lately with James Cagney.
It creeps me out how in all these old shows they let total strangers just walk into their houses. "May I come in?" "Uh, no."
It was different, then. Most people knocked first, and waited for someone to say, "come in", since it was usually someone we knew. Strangers usually waited, for someone to open the door.
Hal Roach gave his son a goldmine ( The Laugh Factory) & wasn't an astute businessman as his father
Ran it into the ground!
My best friend did a private adoption. It was a disaster, for the child. My friend died, when the child was 8, from cancer, which was why she and her husband had been denied, by licensed agencies. First, the mother got spooked, when the amount of money changing hands, made it to the A.G.'s office in the state. She was almost arrested at the hospital, and took the baby, for a couple of days. Realizing that newborns don't just lay in a crib, looking cute, she called my friend, and handed the child to them, after leaving the state. Things seemed fine, for a few years, then my friend got very sick. The cancer spread, she died, and the husband had already found a new woman. The child had never been told she was adopted, and the husband told her, during an argument. The child was sent away, to a special school, when she was 12, and returned after the father had remarried, and moved. The child found her bio mother, but she had done away with herself, just months before the child turned 18.
That baby is in his 70s now!
Don't take the wife back....she quit the marriage, deal with it
People were not like that. They worked through problems, because they loved one another much differently than today.
