Hello from Bandung!
Tonight we head to a traditional Indonesian dinner with Winny from JC motorent and his friends.
We were so lucky to be invited to this, we tried a few new foods, the main ones being jengkol or "stinky beans", they were definitely interesting, they had the texture of a strong root vegetable with a slight garlic flavor, very hard to describe but worth trying if you get the chance!
The other thing we tried was bubur kacang ijo, it's a green lentil dish with black sticky rice, it was incredible!
We're so excited to continue our Indonesia travel, it is far from over!

There's always tofu, sambal, jengkol and kangkung (water spinach)

When you eat jengkol, you have to dip it with chili sauce, because otherwise it will taste a little bitter. And that's how we eat raw or fried jengkol

I live in Germany. I cooked bubur kacabg Ijo and gave to my german colleagues and friends، but they dont enjoy it much. But they do like bandrek. So please try bandrek.

...I believe "kacang hijau" or "kacang ijo" is called mung bean in english, not lentils....
and also, the one that he introduce to you as "stinking bean" is actually known with english name blackbead.... you can look it up in Wikipedia : Archidendron pauciflorum
...what usually known as a stinking bean is
Parkia speciosa, which Indonesian name is "petai" .....both have similar stinking characteristic, but blackbead is bigger and crunchier...
