Es Cana is one of the original resorts to pop up here in Ibiza way back in the 1960’s. A super friendly family resort with three main beaches of Es Cana, Cala Nova and Cala Martina. Es Cana is also world famous for the Hippy Market which runs every Wednesday throughout the summer (unfortunately not on the day I filmed).
Es Cana is situated 10 mins North of the popular and lively resort of Santa Eulalia.

We stayed at the Alua Soul in Es cana last year in October. Was still fairly busy. Charlie’s was open until 2/3am.
Was supposed to be back at the hotel 3 weeks ago. Hopefully again next year.
This October we are lucky with the weather - it’s just no one is here to enjoy. 2021 I’m sure you will be able to return
I met my wife in Escana back in 1971 and we are still together. we were both staying at the Hotel Ereso with friends, we met in the disco! below the Hotel

Nice video mate,great wee resort,been about 9 or 10 times usually stay in the Mar Y Huerta which is a literal stones throw from the beach about 30 yard from Charlie's bar,great wee hotel and great staff,cant wait to get back.

It must be a place you enjoy, even in the height of summer Es Cana has that chilled out vibe :) Also so close to Santa Eulalia

@@missionmjl sure no problem - October I would say the majority of places are still open so you have a great choice. Perhaps try the opposite side of the island - somewhere such as Port des Torrent / Cala Tarida? As you know ibiza is relatively easy to move around it I’m sure you would find new things on this side of the island. If your on Instagram I’m nick_ibizahire - I often add walks / other places to visit on there

went to escana in 2003 for 2 weeks stayed for a couple off months it was amazing
Often Ibiza does that - only a short stay planned and before you know its months / years :)

My 2nd fave place on Earth. Only beaten by the Palm Jumeirah Dubai. check out the pastelaria opposite the little marina. I can recommend the spinach and pine nut empanada with one of the coffees they serve in there for breakfast......

SO THERE IS A LOT OF EMPTY ROOM IN THE HOTELS, BUT PEOPLE LIVING IN THE STREETS... WELL DONE GUYS
Yep must be 1000s of empty rooms! Would be great for one hotel chain to open their doors to help the homeless

Been going to Es Cana since 1980's .. Love it , such a safe friendly resort.. Unfortunately had our holidays there cancelled this year due to covid.
Yes so many cancellations - let’s hope by 2021 we can travel again!
Thanks, Nick. Awesome as always. Good to know you can get to the hippy market by walking along the coast. We might try that next time we are in Es Cana. Is that an easy enough walk for older people?
It’s pretty flat but can be quite narrow in certain places - if it gets too difficult you can always need in land, walk a little and then cut back through to the coast. I think you will be ok though.

It’s a great resort and on huge bonus is Ibiza is a relatively small island so no matter where you stay it’s easy to explore.
Lived and worked in Es Cana for 4 summer seasons from 1994 to 1998 (took a break in 1997). Have been going every year since for a holiday.
Was booked to come for the whole of July 2020 but covid put a stop to that.
Such a shame that you didn't cover half of what Es Cana has to offer.
From nightly karaoke to foam parties for the kids on a Thursday afternoon in high season. Live music every night at Popeyes and
late night music at Grannys.
There is far more to the resort than a couple of venues that overlook the harbour.

I'm going to Ibiza in two weeks for the first time and I will stay in Es Canar, I like this "quite/relax" area. How do you think will be this summer for Ibiza? Are already tourist there or similar to last year?
Hi Patri, that's great to hear and you will love Es Cana. There are tourist here, not too many, which in some ways is great - plenty of space on the beach - let me know how you get on

I have not been to Es Cana since the 70s.Stayed at Hotel Panorama,is it still there?by the small harbour.My partner Simon is blind so is the area reasonably disabled friendly? Been going to Nerja nr Malaga.love David in Wales
Hi David, Wow 1970s that's amazing - I imagine lots has changed but Es Cana is still a relatively quiet relaxed and beautiful resort. The hotel Panorama....... the building is still there but a few years back it had a total renovation and is now called the Alua Soul (adults only hotel). I would also say Es Cana is one of the more disabled friendly resorts as no big hills/easy to move around still quite small. I hope you make it back one day
Between 2010 and 2016 we had six wonderful holidays at the Panorama hotel in Es Cana. Sadly, age and health issues have caught up with us, so it's just happy memories now. Maybe it was meant to be, the Panorama closed at the end of the 2016 season.

Thats a difficult one to answer. Some Novembers we have great sunshine and others it can be wet! Usually warm in the day but always chilly at night

Hi Nick, just looking at options for booking to come to Es Cana at the end of this month, 29 sept > 6th oct, though have read mixed (confusing) reports as to what is/isn't open restaurant & bars wise... Being on the ground, can you advice if bars & restaurants are open during this period? Thank you.
The resort wont be in full swing but for sure there will certainly be a handful of places open. Santa Eulalia is also a short ride away by bus/water taxi. If your looking for a relaxing time with a few places to go I think Es Cana will be fine

In the 1980s, there was a lady called Mary Cooper, who did The English Programme on Radio Diario De Ibiza. She was completely bonkers, read the news, translating as she went, played records at the wrong speed and talked about her life in Ibiza. She live in Siesta just outside Santa Eulalia and she was friends with Daphne, from Daffers Restaurant in Santa Eulalia. They were both a lot of fun, but sadly no longer with us. Missed this one when it was posted Nick so playing catch-up. My only experience of Es Caná has been the Hippy Market, which I visited while staying at Portinatx. Had a great experience and met some hippy chics. Es Caná must look and feel very different during the season, but even so holds little appeal to me. Thanks for the vlog.
Ha ha better late than never. Visiting Es Cana on hippy market day can be quite off putting as it is so busy and often crowded. You'll have to give her another chance next time your back :)
