If you have the LED’s with Zero to 10 Vdc Dimming, there is a “Blink’n’Dim” Switch that wires in at the Light Fixture. No 10 Vdc wire in the walls. You will have three light levels, by turning the wall switch on and off. Bit pricey at around $70, though.

Yeah, seems like they are going to keep Sunnata locked to RadioRa3 to appease their customer installers. Bad for everyone but the few of you willing to deal with creating and maintaining RadioRa3.
$70 is just too expensive for a single dimmer switch. I have quite a few Kasa dimmer switches that work flawlessly. Yes, they're wifi but I spent a lot of time making sure I have a solid mesh wifi network. Is there a longer delay in automations? Yes, but when I can get them for under $15 each, I'll accept the extra 50-100ms. In Homekit via HomeAssistant.
Extra 50-100ms of latency.... compared to what? Are you saying WiFi is 50-100ms higher latency than other wireless protocols like zigbee, zwave, etc... If so, you're wrong.
@@BallsworthBallsbury not saying that at all. I’m saying with a scene that contains Lutron and Kasa switches, the Lutron switches turn on faster but not by much(under a quarter of a second). I was taking about perceived delay, not communication protocol latency.
Lutron Caseta switches still can't control other lutron devices like the Smart Plug and Outdoor Plug, so you're still have mount an extra Pico remote. So I can't walk into a room, hit a single hardwired switch and turn on overhead lights with a Caseta dimmer and also turn on bedside lamps with a Smart Switch. Still have to use that extra wall mounted Pico. Same thing in any room where you want multiple light sources turned on without having to wall mount an extra Pico.
I'm not a fan of the slider. It's quick, but with kids and guests, I don't want them messing with that. I'm still very happy with my Inovelli switches, clean look without the slider. Press and hold up or down to select your brightness, and its set.
How is it that TP Link can get the cost of their devices so low and Lutron cannot? $70 is way too much money for a GD dimmer switch and the new model needs a neutral wire. This market is ripe for lower cost competition that doesn't require a neutral.
Lutron is a premium product. Compared to my friends using those other brands who are always running into issues, I've never had a single problem. Add to that Lutron's 24/7 US-based tech support call center, and it's worth the extra money.
What is the minimum load spec? The typical problem with dimmers that don't have a neutral wire is that they require a higher minimum load for reliable operation. P.S. The National Electric Code (NEC) added a requirement in 2011 that all switch boxes have a neutral wire, even if they don't use it, because so many dimmers for energy efficient lighting need it. [To be pedantic -- you don't have to have a neutral wire if you have direct access to above or below the switch box.]
Not sure I understand this correctly. So if I have a 3 way switch, I can replace just one of the two switches with this without messing around with the other switch. This is as expensive as the old caseta dimmer/pico set. I do like the convenient of a pico but don't want to mess with the wiring again.
My perfect smart switch would a something that looks exactly like a normal light switch, but it has a motor so when you turn it on or off remotely, it physically moves the switch. Same for the perfect dimmer switch. I have found that when elderly people use our smart switches they get so confused because it doesn’t flip positions like a regular switch.
Love the videos! Relatively new here. A home assistant beginners guide, adding ZigBee devices, etc would be super helpful. Point me to one of your videos if already created please. Saw the NFC video now I'm hooked on figuring it out
So, you live in Arizona, right? Have you had any power issues, power outages/brownouts, etc? Im planning on moving to the Chandler area in a couple of years, so curious how these switches would be affected. Also, these Lutrons, do they require a web service like Hue bulbs?
Big question in my mind is how is it's dimming performance with low power LEDs? Old switches can cause noticeable flicker of light at anything but 100% on as well as not continuing to slightly illuminate the LED when the switch is actually off.
I had a feeling something was coming out the pipeline. I went to start slowly buying for a new house but I noticed a bit of a price drop so I thought I wait to see if something new was coming out.
DO you know of a good wifi 4 Way switch? I went the cheaper route a few years back with Kasa and for my needs it is great but it is annoying having most lights in my house on wifi switches except the hall lights because they are 4 way. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question.
The price is high, but hopefully it will go down. I would love to have some of these for my office and control the lighting while working. Do you know if these are an easy swap if you already have 3 way Lutron switches?
Can you test something for me? If the physical dimmer is at 50% and then you change it to 25% on the app and then turn it off. Does it turn on the light again at 50% or 25% if you ask it to turn on the light using a voice assistant?
I sure wish I would’ve seen your video when it first came out. Over the last couple weeks I’ve replaced most of the switches in my home with the old style Casita dimmer. These are a little bit more money, but definitely would’ve been what I chose. Also, do you know if Lutron still makes an on/off switch that doesn’t need neutral? I have a neon sign that doesn’t work with their no neutral dimmer. Thanks.
Hello. I was wondering if you could possibly help me with a question. My dad is blind and uses IOS accessibility to navigat his phone. I was wondering if you knew or could test how well it works with Home assistant. I want to help him set up a smart home. But I want to know how well different hub environments will work for him before I suggest one for him to use.
I have a question for a what would be a good smart wall switch. Project for my kitchen, track lighting with RGB smart bulbs (I can't find any track heads with RGB function) so I found the bulbs. Looking at a few 3 & 4 light track light units. Anyway, I want to be able to turn on/off (maybe dim as well) from the wall switch, but still be able to turn on/off and color change from a smart phone app, Google Home/Alexa. A standard wall switch will kill power to the track lights and I won't be able to turn the lights on without turning on the wall switch... Advice? Nothing has been purchased yet. For the track lights, I found there on Amazon: Avatar Controls 4 Pack Smart Bulb GU10, Alexa LED Light Bulbs Music Sync RGBCW Color Changing Dimmable WiFi Spot Lights Works with Google Home, Quick Connection
Does the new version fix the automation issue? Example setting the light to turn on to a certain brightness during specified times without that annoying delay? Or does it still ramp to 100% then goes to the automation light level?
Don’t really care about the tactile aspect in this sort of situation. The light turning on or off is the only feedback I need. I’ve only swapped one switch so far, and that’s a simple on/off one that’s not even a rocker style. But to each their own :)
So do you set up the dimming level for scenes using the slider, or is that just for the local on level? In other words, if someone moves the slider will it mess up scenes?
2 points: The first is that the physical 3way is important as some local codes DONT ALLOW (pico) non wired remotes (won't pass inspection/ 3 pole most be hard wired) The second is that they need to come out with ELV and MLV ASAP. hate having to spec different styles of dimmers in complex lighting situations
Are you aware if they can be used in 4 way applications? Also since there is no neutral wire do they turn on whenever the power goes out and back on like my smart bulbs?
Yeah, I don't mind paying for quality at all, and I am a Lutron fan, but at $70, it's just too much. Will be watching for a significant price decrease and then will pickup quite a few.
I just bought 7 of these and I am starting to get them set up. I also use Home Assistant and right now I am not able to find them within Home Assistant. I do see the pico remote I added from the starter kit but not these dimmers. Has anyone been able to add these to Home Assistant?
Great video! I've had problems with the OG Caseta dimmers causing most LED bulbs to flicker or not turn on unless at over 50% brightness. This includes bulbs Lutron says are compatible with the dimmer and work with non-smart Lutron dimmers. I see the Diva dimmer has "LED+". Will that improve LED bulb compatibility?
Just installed the diva today with a halo 4 inch LED recessed lighting fixture. Both are brand new and the LED bulbs still flicker unless I don’t dim them too much. Just fyi.
Hi. Do you know if these new switches fixed power leakage. My son has some of the older model and some of his outdoor led lights has a glow with the old switch
Such a new dimmer, and if it doesn’t offer matter, then it’s a deal killer for me. I’ll wait till one comes out. I have an order right now for 58 switches in dimmers, but I’ll cancel the order if I can’t confirm if it has matter or thread.
Smart switches, great, but do they work seamlessly with smart bulbs (e.g. Hue) ? I've tried more that a few wifi/z-wave, with smartthings, HomeAssistant and Hubitat I've yet to see a "smart" dimmer that can dim a "smart" light, as easily and reliably as a dumb dimmer can dim a dumb light
I can't find tech specs on the Lutron website yet - is the smart dimmer still a triac dimmer like the others in the diva line? I have a fixture with integrated LEDs that flickers when off with the old Caseta dimmer, which the manufacturer said would work properly with "a triac dimmer, which Lutron has available in their Diva product line".
Lutron sells a small capacitor that you can install to get around this problem. I can't say it will work for every situation, but it fixed that problem on a few of ours. PN: LUT-MLC
@@t0kinl3lunts thanks, I asked Lutron support about that previously and they said "We no longer advise on using the LUT-MLC on dimmers due to it possibly shorting out the internal components in the dimmer." Not sure if maybe I should just try it anyway...
@@GuyWithAScythe I’m not suggesting you ignore their recommendations, but I’m well over 6 months with it in and no issues so far. It was installed on a Caseta on/off switch (not dimmer) for a 1/2 watt LED nite-lite, built into a bathroom vent fan. The light wouldn’t fully shut off without it. Btw, the pro dimmer (with neutral) helped reduce flickering at low brightness settings with some other fixtures, but didn’t eliminate it completely (can just barely see it at the lowest levels). I never tried it on the nite-lite, or for a fixture that wouldn’t shut off, but you might ask them about it. Downside is that it’s very expensive at ~$110!
This is a very good additional option - it retains what's good about Lutron - including that its completely intuitive how to use it for anyone who has never seen one before. I have many existing Lutron Caseta switches & dimmers and I hardly ever touch them - they are either on room scenes controlled from scene picos, or automated in some other way (timed/sensors). Not sure it makes much real difference beyond initial look & feel to me.
I'm using the Meross switches. I've been really impressed with their products 👍
I'm not a fan of the slider. It's quick, but with kids and guests, I don't want them messing with that. I'm still very happy with my Inovelli switches, clean look without the slider. Press and hold up or down to select your brightness, and its set.
I wish they had something like with a fan speed combo. Having trouble finding one.
Imo, they should have made the sunnata the smart switch instead of the diva. Looks and works so much nicer.
I used to work at Lutron engineering. Some of their biggest markets are mansions and yachts... The $70 price tag doesn't surprise me
Not sure I understand this correctly.
I like the cleaner look of these. Maybe replacement coming soon.😂
When are we going to get a smart local rotary switch??
Will this handle led smart bulbs (multiple) in a chandelier and not make them all flicker?
Yeah I’m mad like you. I just upgraded about 10 of my switches to Lutron and now they come out with diva which fixes a bunch of my complaints
Big question in my mind is how is it's dimming performance with low power LEDs? Old switches can cause noticeable flicker of light at anything but 100% on as well as not continuing to slightly illuminate the LED when the switch is actually off.
I'll probably upgrade all mine to this once it is proven out and the price drops next year.
Doesn't seem like it's available in home depot yet. Any early birds know where to buy?
I still haven't seen many reviews of the Runless Wire switches.
Can you test something for me? If the physical dimmer is at 50% and then you change it to 25% on the app and then turn it off.
Does it turn on the light again at 50% or 25% if you ask it to turn on the light using a voice assistant?
What is the product number? Can't find it on the Lutron page.
I love your outros!
I am using this switch with 75w multi color hue bulbs but for some reason it flickers when I dim the light.
Any way to fix it?
$70 is the dealbreaker for me.
I personally prefer the squishy buttons because they are quiet. My kids somehow make the switches that click way too loud.
I assume these don't do ELV and there is currently no ELV version? I find the ELV dimmers don't make my fixtures/bulbs hum like the non-ELV ones do.
What about the fan switch? Anything that can do both light and fan separately?
So do you set up the dimming level for scenes using the slider, or is that just for the local on level? In other words, if someone moves the slider will it mess up scenes?
2 points: The first is that the physical 3way is important as some local codes DONT ALLOW (pico) non wired remotes (won't pass inspection/ 3 pole most be hard wired) The second is that they need to come out with ELV and MLV ASAP. hate having to spec different styles of dimmers in complex lighting situations
Can you do an updated Hub comparison 2022? I'm looking to get into it but not sure which hub to get. Thanks!
Are you aware if they can be used in 4 way applications? Also since there is no neutral wire do they turn on whenever the power goes out and back on like my smart bulbs?
I’m using regular toggle switches in 3 way with my Casétas so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
Yeah, I don't mind paying for quality at all, and I am a Lutron fan, but at $70, it's just too much. Will be watching for a significant price decrease and then will pickup quite a few.
I love it!
What’s the model# and name of this switch ?
Can you confirm if this dimmer is going to be able to operate with matter or thread?
Such a new dimmer, and if it doesn’t offer matter, then it’s a deal killer for me. I’ll wait till one comes out. I have an order right now for 58 switches in dimmers, but I’ll cancel the order if I can’t confirm if it has matter or thread.
Doe this work with hue bulbs?
wish they had it for fan control. probably still use it for that but it's not ment for it
From an installation standpoint, I can't stand the pigtail wires coming out of it. Why not just screw terminals like Lagrand dimmers have????
I just want the sunnata style but compatible with caseta
I think it would be cool to have a smart
Dimmers with no neutral wire and the hug built in... 💯
Of course I JUST bought Caseta switches for my entire loft lol
Such a DIVA!
Why do the on/off switches need a neutral but the dimmers do not?
The DIVA routine at the end needed some additional work 😂
Z-wave controllable?
Would this work for fans with a slider for 3 fan speeds?
Smart switches, great, but do they work seamlessly with smart bulbs (e.g. Hue) ?
I've tried more that a few wifi/z-wave, with smartthings, HomeAssistant and Hubitat
I've yet to see a "smart" dimmer that can dim a "smart" light, as easily and reliably as a dumb dimmer can dim a dumb light
Inovelli Blue 2-1 in smart bulb mode and Zigbee binding with your preferred home automation- Home Assistant, Hubitat or Smartthings.
Sticking with kasa
Does it still enable 3-way control with Caseta pico remote?
Yes
Wait, why add the physical slider, which gets out of sync when you use the Smart. They already solved this with Sunnata. 🤦♂️
Question is how long will it hold up after getting used for years and years? For $70 it should probably last a long time.
People have had Lutron switches for years with zero problems. I'd bet these last a long time.
Does anyone know if the 3-way configuration requires two switches or can you just replace one like some other brands?
You didn't mention but I assume it supports HomeHit.
Yes it works with HomeKit since it connects to Lutron’s Caseta bridge.
Price is a deal breaker!
If I have a 3 way or 4 way light can I use (1) "New" Lutron switch and leave the Pico's in place?
Yes
Amazon says these are 6 years old?
This is a very good additional option - it retains what's good about Lutron - including that its completely intuitive how to use it for anyone who has never seen one before. I have many existing Lutron Caseta switches & dimmers and I hardly ever touch them - they are either on room scenes controlled from scene picos, or automated in some other way (timed/sensors). Not sure it makes much real difference beyond initial look & feel to me. It would make more difference if you interact with the dimmers a lot (remembering the level, quick to full on and room exit are nice).
No decoupled mode, that's unfortunate
I'm shocked you would prefer these over Z wave 😮
Will these work if ordered to the UK? It seems you can only buy them online from the US
Probably not. US runs at 120V, UK is at 240V.
@@JamieStuff Yeah, I thought that would be the case, thanks
$70 a switch is crazy!
Kasa smart switch still seems to be the better deal
