French Alps by Motorbike 2022

This trip was supposed to be in a loop through the beautiful Maison du Park Natural Regional du Massif to ride the breath-taking Routes de Grandes Alpes to finish at Mont Blanc Chamonix. We started in Geneva and headed towards Annecy. We continued south and arrived at Gap. Still following beautiful scenic roads through picturesque towns and villages we headed slightly east and made our way up towards Chamonix, only to be stopped in our tracks by torrential rain. We took shelter in a petrol station that served coffee and sat a while to let the rain pass....we waited!...and we waited and after several cups of coffee and a quick weather check we abandoned the hopes of Chamonix and turned west towards Veyron where we found better riding weather and better riding hopes. A few days later and finding another route that promised some exciting terrain we attempted again to get towards Mont Blanc. Disaster! Yet more rain! We could see the mountains in the distance, we were so close but unfortunately the mountain was covered in a sea of black cloud and the closer we crept, the wetter we got.
Eventually a little deflated we gave up the idea, but we were soon lightened by all the magnificent places we visited instead and routes we took that truly made our souls sing, we had an amazing trip.
