Fun fact: Virpi Kätkä (blond one) holds record of Survivor Finland for being 62 days in jungle❤
Oh wow. One of my favorites of Finland's entries ever. The stage show and the clothes are SO hideous they took all the attention from a good song and a very talented sister duet.
Amen! 🇫🇮 miles worse than the national final version.
At the time, it was one of The favorites to win In the Eurovision too!
The beggining is spectacular, I like so much.....
One of the best songs in the 90's...
Am I the only one who thinks this sounds great with orchestra? I mean, after the competition the conductor was criticized a lot in Finland for using an orchestra instead of a backing track.
I've always quite liked this version.
You are not.
I do think it sounds great for most of the song, but unfortunately it did kinda mess up the start of the first chorus, at 1:24 to be precise
2:27 - 2:47 The most epic bridge ever performed in Eurovision - more chord progressions like this please!! Then leading into a sudden modulation for the final chorus. The geek in me is overjoyed 😍😍
Yeah, it is w weird bridge alright... Just wondered the same, F# to C... and would expect it to go to C# or some complementary but it takes a tritone jump to modulate it. A friend of mine wrote it.. well, friend is maybe too big of a word but small town has small music circles. Did a few recordings in his studio, he was a good man. Died a few years ago from cancer.
@@squidcaps4308 That's very true! Although I think the fact that its quite jarring works very well given the context of the lyrics (Not that I speak Finnish but google translate is a great tool!) Wonderful that you knew the composer and I'm sorry to hear about his loss 😔
I like it. Deserved top 10 that year. 😊🇬🇷
Actually it is my winner !
As a young teen, I loved this song and thought the blonde lady was so beautiful!
itse olen suomalainen ja olen seurannut euroviisuja noin 40:n kymmenen vuoden ajan. vuonna 1994 suomen biisi oli erittäin hyvä, tytöt pärjäsivät lavalla hyvin. Mielestäni heidän performanssinssa olisi täytynyt sijoittua kymmenen parhaimman joukkoon. Nyt kun jälkikäteen 2020 kuuntelee ja katselee tätä laulua niin tulee kuitenkin mieleen se, että he jotka eivät tiedä millaista tuolloin -94 ajanhenki oli että arvioinnit pitäisi tehdä ajatellen esiintymisvuotta, vuosikymmentä, lähiaikojen tapahtumia, - me vanhemmat esc fanit varmaankin tiedämme tämän. to love all people. peter.
yes they are sisters. virpi is proffessor of music and katja is master of music. Very talent girls.
The Greek jury gave ten points for this song
Dimi Vall and Bosnia-Herzegovina gave this 1 point
Of course
Who did they give 12 points to? (Joke of the century)
@@tee8839 mmmm.... it must be Turkey! (another joke)
Y’all need to stop being so butthurt and whiny about what Greece gives to Cyprus and complain about what Scandinavia does every year and the same countries win again and again even they don’t deserve the win at all,but let me guess you are from those countries lol, that’s the real joke here.
Germany 🇩🇪 and Finland 🇫🇮 were the best that year!!!! Finland 🇫🇮 is my winner 🥇 that year and Germany 🇩🇪 my second place 🥈
Love 💕 from Lebanon 🇱🇧 !!
Germany used backing track, which sounded much better. Finnish conductor didn't understand to use it, instead lazy arrangement for local orchestra. I bet then Fin would be much higher. :)
@@Bandido894 To not use a backing track was not the decision of Finnish conductor (O. Ahvenlahti) but of the composer duo; the producer of the record version is my source of information for this: all-conductors-of-eurovision.blogspot.com/1998/05/olli-ahvenlahti.html
I love this song and perfomance, the little choreography is quite funny sjsjsjsjs really like the intro and Finnish is a wonderful language to sing
One of the best entries of Finland in my opinion.
But I have to disagree with the statement that a modern popsong can't be presented by a live orchestra. In my opinion a live orchestra - when it does its job well - is always superior to a playback. A playback can never match the atmosphere and the sound of a live performance. Take a look at the Albanian festivali i kenges. Even rap / hip hop songs sound amazing there thanks to the live orchestra when the arrangement is good.
spot on. ....
Precisely
My best in 1994
Love this song cute from Greece
Thank you. Your country gave this song 10 points
Remember there was Kirka (Fin1984, died 2007) in Greek list with this song ruclips.net/video/w8ZUcr7Jdhc/видео.html Should have been ESC with the song!
That's one of these Eurovision performances which are super fascinating and quite odd at the same time: Weired choreo which is a bit over the top for this old fashioned song, really strange outfits which have not decided yet if they want to be sexy or granny ... and still, I like it for some strange reason.
As a child I remember being super fascinated with the face of the woman in the green dress at 2:25.
Had some leftover coke
Hahahahaaa haaa....😂@@Thrna_1
This song was too ahead of time!, this song could a better outcome in 1995, 1996 or 1997 with Eurodance sounds.
THE BEST IN 1994
Back in 1994 that this was probably! Finland's best contribution ever in the ESC history! which several experts considered the same thing but not the foreign jury groups.
Omg that choreography lmao
That’s what caught my eye
❤from🇬🇷 Greece❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊2023 edo telio mprabo Finland❤😊
Brazil loves it!!!!!
love😍
That a modern uptempo song cannot be played live is a strange myth that only live among a portion of Eurovision-fans. All music can be played live if the orchestra/band is put together the right way. In this particular song I agree that the orchestration was not the best, and on top of that the sound engeneer did a bad job.
I much prefer the arrangement used in the Finnish national final.
So beautiful women but in silly outfits
But it does completely change the record. The actual track is more italodisco which is part of the appeal of the song and gives it a lift that is a bit missing from the orchestral live version. The national final version is much better, its an example of a song really not translating too well to esc, although mainly due to costumes and staging.
I have to question the wisdom of whoever designed/chose the outfits.
Virpi (the lady in the green dress) and their costumier designed the costumes but virpi said later that they weren't supposed to look like that.
read this from an article, there was some last minute failures and they had to just take something from the wardrobe of YLE but I can’t remember if this is referring to the national final or this
The real winner 1994
This song is so catchy and cute but those outfits are simply disastrous
Were the dancing, flip-overs, press ups etc. at the start really necessary? It was the Eurovision SONG Contest after all, not the Eurovision Gymnastics Contest.
24 years ago. fantastic song, amazing girls. I like in special the blonde girl because is hot.
They are real sisters.

Excellent
I actually loved this song and, for me, it's Finland's best song, but I still think that there was a mix up in the voting somewhere and the 10 points Finland got from Greece was actually meant for Ireland. If you look at the scoring, Greece is the only jury not to award Ireland any votes.
An investigation needed
i like rock & roll kids but bye bye baby is better
The Greeks should be applauded.
Maybe it was other way around. All those points directed to Ireland was really meant for FINLAND, but hosts just mixed it up xD
This is good
Was the artistic director for this entry going through personal problems at the time or something. It just feels someone's mind was elsewhere when they should've been working on this.
Haha! But true. 😂
very much a Käärijä fan but I think I found something even catchier
the song was amazing and had a great atmosphere, but those outfits are so distracting! :(
Year I was born, to quote the late Sir Terry, it's two ladies singing in their underwear .....
Good riddance Sir Terry has passed away. He was so rude towards Eurovision. What was that of the "Eurovision Handicap"? Please!!!
@@danieljano88 He also pronounced the Finnish conductor's name in a Swedish accent...
In their MOTHER´S underwear!
@@danieljano88 Just to be clear - you are celebrating Terry Wogan's death?... Take a deep breath and reconsider your values.
Esiintymis paikka oli huono vain, muuten ois voitettu!
The finish part sounds like a lot of Swear Words in portuguese ...sorry guys, I had to say it. A part from that, it is a nice song!
So do you mean the whole song except for the title? 🤣
Ou dear!
3rd on my list
Why can't just the song title be the lyrics? That would mean you could perform your entry in english.
Bye bye Tsouni, Tsouni goodbye
Lähden pois vaikka yksin jään!!
Bye bye Tsouni, Tsouni goodbye
Itke en, kun loppuu tää!!!
Discplay difference😁🌎
Awful outfits, laughable dance, but still a really catchy song. And the finnish language are a cute singing language.
Laughable conductor/arranger Olli Ahvenlahti, which is most to blame: should use tape (was allowed), instead lazy lame orchestra arrangement, which not suitable at all for this kind of fast tempo song. :)
@@Bandido894maybe it is suitable, but the arrangemwnt was lame
They talk about the Barbara Dex awards, but really, this was some bad outfits. Nice song, though...
Yeah, there's a lot of worse dressing participants than Barbara in eurovision history, even in the same year. Some notable examples are: Luxembourg 1992, Slovenia 1993, United Kingdom 1984, Norway 1984, and of course Finland 1994. But even though, Eurovision is a SONG contest and not a fashion contest, so I don't think that one should rate the contestants by their clothes.
@@surprisedadrianlol True
they have the same surname, are they sisters?
Yes they are sisters.
Yes they are, and their surname is Kätkä, pronounced catca. If you add the T you get the Finnish plural, i.e Kätkät, or the Kätkä sisters, pronounced Catcat.
The performance & Clothes suck but love the song.
Lmao this is so funny

It was awful back then in the preview video and at Eurovision and it’s still awful now. Awful but sooo catchy. 🇫🇮 😉
Where are clothes?
The song is catchy (studio version), but the performance was completed destroyed. This can blame amateurish Finnish conducter Olli Ahvenlahti, who didn't get (or want) to use backing track. Instead arranged lazy arrangement for local orcherstra, which sounded lame like a breath of the cow.
Actually, Ahvenlahti said that he preferred the nf arrangement. But it depends on the two arrangers which is Lowland and Salli. Ahvenlahti, cant do anything about it, he has no choice but to go with it
For thr nf arrangement, Ahvenlahti arranged the song. But in the Eurovision final (which was rearranged by Lowland and Salli), he was intrigued how the arrangement turned out
The worst costumes in the history of the contest !!
This is awful and embarrasing af even 25 yrs later. 😖
Very shit opinion. fucking dick
your comment is embarrassing.
