- Grant Bruns and John Gorman are seeking $500,000 in return for a 20% equity stake in Ampan, a building product made from agricultural waste.
An international sensation, Shark Tank AUS features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Tank from our Sharks, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

The Farmer has to disassociate with the suit & tie guy. The advice given by the Sharks was really practical.
3:07 Steve: “How strong is it?”
Guy: E=mc^2 / 3.14 ...
Steve: Baby talk please
Guy: “It’s good shit mate” 😂
🖖😁😂
You wouldn't get away with that on Dragons Den. Can you imagine Deborah's reaction??
He was talkin about Modulus of elasticity. And that's how u define how strong and elastic is a thing.
Param Drall r/iamverysmart
That was awesome 😂
"It's good shit"
One of them should have invested.
you r right, this is one of those revolutionary product, they are going to miss out.
The product would be amazing if the demand was high.
It could save so many trees from being chopped down and help the planet at the same time
It is an alternative product to others which are made from wood waste and recycled wood products. Not saying it isn't a great product in and of itself but, he didn't say whether he had any patents nor whether it is certified for building construction. I believe it may not be cost competitive with boards made of hemp when farming and production of those products increase. Expect this to come sooner rather than later after all the fires in the US.
We burn up more trees than we log. Trees are renewable.this is a good idea tho. Chip board cost more than $7.
@flick22601
Hemp is the most environmentally friendly crop ever, and Should replace wood in paper, and Should replace cotton in fabric. It uses an absolute fraction of the water, it’s nitrogen fixing, grows super fast, and grows with little to no fertiliser. If it weren’t for politics it would be used extensively, and would probably bury this idea, especially given the minuscule amount of rice grown in Australia
Trees can grow faster than we can use them. Stop with this save the trees crap. Millions of acers get burnt every year, far less than is logged. Yet stupid tree huggers look the other way at that inconvenient fact. With proper logging they can drastically reduce the amount of fires, too. Use it or lose it, and tree huggers would rather lose it than use it.
In America we actually have a shortage of plywood right now and it has caused the price of plywood to skyrocket! With what they are saying about the product litterially can print; or stamp money! These Sharks are morons to pass this up! Plywood in America has tripled in cost in the past year! What the hell where they thinking!
i feel like Andrew in the nice grandfather that everyone loves
until he has to sack 1000 people cos he aint makin enough wedge.
Binary Signals hahaha
Andrew is a businessman, and a great one. He's not there to be nice; he's there to make money.
Green Lion he is still a nice person
@@ethanlust6305 Theres a difference between narcissism and nice.
I hope someone doesn't take advantage of him. With the right support, his dreams could come true.
"it's good shit mate" made me a buyer😂 I bet it's stronger than wood from those words 😂
Steve is right they should have built a shed a house out of this. Then tested it fully.
he could have done it with part of the 600 grand they spent.
Why would you need to build a shed when it was tested already to plywood and was just the same or better?
@@chrisyanover1777 Because tests are fantastic, but seeing is believing. I wrote a research paper 4 years ago in college dealing with the idea of replacing non renewable building materials with fiber based composites, and concluded negatively for reasons not just including degradation rates, but the fact that the people who would spend money on it just don't believe in it... Yet.
Can you guys stop having titles that spoil the video?
just dont read the titles then loool just turn off ur monitor lmaoo
Радивоје Бачић yea looooool don’t look at the title of the video you’re gonna watch loooool
press alt+f4 that will fixit
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 True man, true.

It would have been VERY EASY to set up a couple of strength comparison tests between this and regular MDF
How unattractive is it to insects? Someone made a similar product with coconut hemp off cuts and it looked fantastic and was very strong. But then it was discovered it attracted insects for hundreds of meters, termites included. I'm not sure about Australia, but in the tropics these would be a no go.
Yeah. They would be a problem here as well
Insects are attracted to dead plan life?
@@chrisyanover1777 yes mainly termites
Man this series is so addictive.. Happily binge watching it.
✅✅ I totally agree. Any of the Sharks’ Tanks and Dragons’ Dens are fantastic.

I like the farmer a lot. Would be less excited about working with the other guy that bought 5%
He should have built the warehouse out of the stuff and made Steve happy at the same time
7:45 i love this man ,, he is a tech guy ,, but he see's what it is , and how it cant change the planet!!!!! Thank u STEVE !!!
A few points: I agree with Steve, he needed to show the boards being used to make something. Secondly, he needed Glenn.
They already tested it, why would you need to build something when it has been tested?
@@chrisyanover1777 To test its buildability :p
Probably this is one of the best episode. No matter how good a product is,but if you can't sell it,it Will become nothing.
I've seen over 30+ episodes and not even for once did Naomi invest. NOT EVEN ONCE.
I saw all episodes in this youtube channel.
Naomi invest only on her expertise area.
ive seen her invest once before, im pretty sure her sister is jenny from dragons den
@@ballinblaza I watched the video. I like the product. And RiceDad. I scanned the comments. I've read this thread. I'm prepared to make a comment.
But I've seen the word Jenny. And for that reason, I'm out.
She has a gifting business you spastic
Can you gift this product?? Can you gift most of the shit pitched on this show?? Same reason why andrew can’t invest because he has a recruitment business and all he can do is introduce businesses to his American friends cause he lives there
@jo nathan yeah lol. ive seen barbara make a deal like twice
Holy Mackeral!! I thought for a second that was Mr. Wonderful walking down the hallway!!
I thought that too. I was like wait s minute is this the US or aussie version :D
For the first 5 seconds of the video I thought it was Mr Wonderful walking in LMAO
✅ Yeah, Kevin O’Leary’s nice twin!
I hope the farmer gets rid of the car salesman because all he did was hurt him. Nobody wants to be talked into something by somebody acting like a car salesman.
I can’t thank you enough for posting Shark Tank Australia ! I’m from the USA and wish I lived in your Country as you are all so polite and kind Hoping to look into Retiring in you Country and ty please keep posting more !!!!
I wouldn't count on all Aussies to be so polite and kind. I live in rural Australia and unfortunately, I've got to put up with a lot of assholes.
who told u australia is a land of gentlemen? 😁 that's got to be the best joke i've heard in a long time😁
It's harder to find company information for Australia than it is for the UK, but it seems like the company may still be active.
Australian rice industry is gone due to the government's water management.
Unless this could be made by wheat hay or barley they would have so much trouble.
@@drpk6514 They could import.
@@TheJrbdog You can already import these products from China. Nothing new.
Do you know if they ship to the United States? Because plywood is in great shortage here and would love to use this on my construction project!
@@drpk6514 last year I was paying $210 per 1000 Sq feet from China. Today it is $598, and it is on backorder and very short supply in the United States. I would love this product if I could get it for 25% cheaper than what I am currently paying. I am also guessing this Shark pitch was before the huge spike in prices for plywood!
Hey here’s an idea.. why not build the factory out of that stuff?!
I thought the same thing!
"it's Good Shit mate" Hahaha I love it
They should have brought in industry standard board as a comparison and did more of a demonstration of the strength with hammers for the sharks and destroying the boards and cutting them a stronger board surely means your blade will become more dull
I'm surprised they didn't even bother with even a simple demonstration, brought a couple hammers, nails, screws in, etc.. If you're trying to showcase some new, miracle, cheap building material, at least have some way to demonstrate its strength compared to traditional material... Even just handing them a sample with a screw in it and a comparison piece of particle board with a screw in it the same way, have them try to bend/break it so they can judge first hand the strength it has. Maybe a glass of water poured on it to demonstrate it's waterproof abilities, a blowtorch for fireproof properties because surely they used some flame retardants in it, etc... such simple and cheap yet powerful demonstrations.
I get not shilling out thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars on proper stress testing, spending a million to build a house or a shed, things like that but like he said, even just a basic table or a box would do them wonders... For style points just hand them a reinforced box and have at it with a sledgehammer, swords, machetes, etc.. A confident demonstration like that would have me sold even if I can manage to break it, long as it doesn't crumble from a light tap and at least somewhat compares to whats on the market since it is supposedly cheaper to produce anyway... How the hell did they spend over half a million dollars without a single table or what have you, it's literally waste material they're using and you just glue it together and press it... Literally just sandwich it between two plates of metal and park your truck on it and suddenly you have a board to work with, what the hell did they spend the cash on??? Is that just lying/bragging to make it sound like they put a lot of work into it, maybe to convince them it's not an easily reproduceable and steal able idea? Honestly, Id instantly be out hearing they spent nearly one million dollars on the idea and have nothing to show for yet, realistically what the hell is my $200,000 investment going to achieve when its a small drop compared to what they already wasted?
2 minutes in and I did not understand a single word that the bald guy said 🤷🏼♂️🤣
I don't believe you.
Yea that suit really screwed up the pitch. It's obvious he was supposed to be the "business guy" but they didn't have any numbers anyway and all he did was annoy the sharks. I honestly think if he wasn't there John couldve done a really high percentage deal with Steve and Steve would've helped a lot. So sad
anyone else replace their live pd obsession with shark tank?
Holy shit I'm there, but I'm in between police activity and shark tank
Yoo you are spot on
This is an architectural product and it is completely tested. No need to be doing even smaller runs by hand, it is time to make a small factory and then once you have plenty, start selling it. It has a cost advantage!
Come to Alberta ! OSB oriented strand board - run . Must be a MDF plant in Australia. That can do a trail run
There’s no way he’s 56!
He is a farmer working under the sun
how much land is required to grow the rice for the waste for the amount of board ?..and agricultural labour costs ?
It's not relevant, it's a waste product. The land and labour is used for growing rice. The rice farmer is then stuck with waste at the end they need to dispose of. Where their waste normally costs them money to get rid of, landfill even for organic waste is not cheap, you'll take it off their hands for free. That's why products made from waste are so appealing - it's often free or sometimes people even pay you to take it.
"Its good shit mate" 🤣🤣🤣
I am convinced the women in red doesn’t have any money
Shes the australian jenny. always OUT
@Blow Me The nice guys aren't the ones sitting down.
3:06 , me at a new dispensary
I don’t get why they won’t invest. I would of. I hope this product comes to the USA
Would you take $500,000 of your own money to invest in something that's unproven? Their answer is in the video
Steve could have made an offer contingent on getting an order for those 1M board meters the factory could produce, and then just worked the problem backwards to find demand. Then once they drum up demand, Steve is there ready with his checkbook. For that he could have asked for 50%. Kick that 5% guy out.
Plywood in America has gone from $210 for every 1000 Sq feet to $598 in just this year alone. The deman is crazy for Plywood and not enough supply. This would have made a killing just this year alone! These Sharks made a dumb decision here!
He brought in the wrong person to “help” pitch his invention.. I would cut that dude loose. Next.
How strong is it ..."its good shit mate"
Barbara “I haven’t seen this yet and for that reason I’m out”
Build the factory from the board as proof of concept?
On shark tank Australia... when sharks praise your product you better be nervous cuz you are prolly not getting a deal 😂

Take loan to build factory, it's gives time to run factory profitability, there are so many machinary in Alibaba which creates those wood, that machinary won't cost too much, that wood will replace synthetic wood 👍
No definitely don’t take a loan over an investment to build factory.. unless you have purchase order already.. these guys haven’t got buyers they definitely shouldn’t go in debt building a potentially useless factory
@@georgeprice5922 synthetic wood has market, their product comes under synthetic wood, it's not problem to reach market, they have competitor advantage because they product is some what cheaper than synthetic wood 👍, so it's not a problem to take risk 👍

If he gets the customer why would he just ask for 250K
Stirlo totally ruined the pitch
Lol
Come across a perfect building material, proceed to build nothing with it 🤦♂️
It is not looking very good. Nothing is going on their website. No costumer reviews but a plain text instead.
You can't sell it by giving out an sample board. Build a shed, show what it could look like. And you can test it standig outside. I don't think it's that long lasting. When you spend that much money but no one buys it, you are doing something wrong.
And the silly buggers did not say they will take 40k out of their pocket each and spunk it against a chunk of land as security.
Ah, yes. What we need are more materials that have been pumped with toxic chemicals that we then don't know how to recycle, or what to do with 20 years down the line.
Barbara: I don't like rice, and so for that reason I'm out.
I love Shark Tank, I like Daniel, of course everyone
I thought he was joking about being 56. He looks 70.

Am i the only one who thinks Andrew little bit looks like Al Pacino?
These guys would have easily backed any app idea probably copied with 30 clones hanging around and called it a great business strategy. How can he make a building without actual product in large quantities, which he cannot get w/o a factory.

Did you say an investment over $200k? Yeah I'm out.
There's been a 2.5m investment
I really don't get why we see these 'clips' from 2015, over and over again.. When we'll get something recent like.. dunno, 2018-2019?
It may be because it got cancelled in 2018 ...

In the past year plywood went from $210 for 1000 Sq feet to $598 just this year alone and I'm having to wait 2 months on backorder from China.
