wow, this is amazing! I've been collecting books for pretty much my entire life, but only just got into manga last year and then my boyfriend and I started collecting our favorite manga series just a couple months ago.
This is the first manga collection video where I've seen a manga that I actually own as well, and that is the first volume of Blue Exorcist. I didn't think it would be so difficult to find mutually owned manga, especially from people with such massive collections, but it made me super happy to see this.
if you haven’t already i recommend picking up this new series called “laughing under the clouds” it’s a sweet tale from the meiji period, definitely a relaxing read.
If you haven't heard of Gintama, Detective Conan aka Case Closed, or Steins;Gate, I suggest you look into those as well. This has to be among the greatest manga collection I've seen. It's like entering a bookstore or something. Library indeed.
Oh my gosh!! You have Claymore?? It’s one of the first manga I’ve read & it’s a phenomenal series. Also I’m blown away from your library. Especially about taking the time over the years to expand one’s collection. I’ve already spent $1000 in my books and bookshelf this year. I should really pace myself
some recommendations: Girls' Last Tour (6 Volumes, kinda hard to find all of em though) Mushishi (8 Volumes) Ayako (1 Volume) MW (1 Volume) There are many more that I would recommend, but they've sadly not yet gotten an english release (Billy Bat, Sun-Ken Rock, Jagaaan etc)
I recommend bakuman, its not the most eventful manga series but it is quite intresting. Its about 2 highschool kids that try to become famous manga artists, it gives a pretty good look in the creation of manga and all the work that goes into one. Its made by the creator of death note
I definitely recommend anything by Fumi Yoshinaga, I think you would like her series called Ooku. It details the idea of what might happen to Japan during the feudal era if a virus suddenly started only attacking males, going into depth what that might do to the economy, the government, and society. It won a lot of awards in Japan including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Grand Prize in 2009. The series completed recently, with 19 volumes in total. Some people find the translation off putting (in the original, she used archaic Japanese to obviously convey a specific time period, so English translators decided to use Early Modern English ala Shakespeare style), but if that type of thing doesn’t bother you it’s a great read.
My favorite manga of all time is by far A Silent Voice by Yoshitoki Oima, if you haven’t read it I’d highly recommend it. It’s only 7 paperback volumes and is available in a box set. Great video by the way!
I recommend reading Blue Giant by Shinichi Ishizuka if you haven’t already. It’s a beautiful story about a boy who is working it become the best jazz player in the world. It’s an inspiring story and you don’t even have to be a jazz or music lover to relate to it. There are currently two omnibus books out for it containing volumes 1-4, with another omnibus coming out sometime in July and a later one towards the end of the year.

Kentarou Yabuki is absolutely my favorite manga artist ever, so it's cool to see. I still need to actually buy the series, tho, but I do have all of his other main ones. Speaking of his other series, I would certainly recommend To Love Ru, Darling in the Franxx, and Ayakashi Triangle. I mean To Love Ru is the most shameless ecchi harem romcom trash out there, so if you dont like that, then totally ignore my recommendation for it lmao. Much to my joy, Seven Seas just 2 days ago announced that they snagged the license for the Darling in the Franxx manga. No spoilers, but I can say that it definitely did not end in a flaming dumpster fire like the anime did and do recommend it. And then as for Ayakashi Triangle, it's just ecchi non-harem romcom trash. I love it! Clearly Saki Hasemi (To Love Ru's writer) rubbed off on Yabuki in all the right ways. That being said, Viz got the license for this series instead of Seven Seas, and sadly we may not even get an English physical release. I own all of Yabuki's works in Japanese anyway, but still sucks. Some amount of alphabetization or unchanging sort method seems inevitable, but I will fight it for as long as possible. I also find your splitting by English publisher interesting. Hello there fellow collector! I see you're using good and trusty Billy shelves :P I have been collecting for similar amount of time, and I'm at 2397 volumes (yes, I keep all my manga in excel sheet, with information on which shelf I have them). I think your collection is bigger, since you own more multi-volume issues, but hey, it's not a race :D
Here are a couple of series that I didn't see in your video. Kingyo Used Books (a series about a bookstore specialized in rare and out-of-print manga, with shout-outs to real series without any kind of masking) is pretty good; unfortunately, Viz Media stopped releasing it after the first four volumes (out of 17 published in Japan), most likely due to licensing cost. However, since it's more like short stories surrounding the bookstore, its employees and its customers, the volumes are standalone. As a result the story doesn't feel like incomplete, like it'd be the case with a serial. Another personal favorite of mine is Genshiken (about a university anime club), at least the original series. (The sequel, Genshiken Second Season, isn't to everyone's tastes, as the anime club becomes a girl-centric yaoi-and-cosplay club and does drag at the end. But characters from the original series do appear from time to time.)
If you haven’t read it yet I’d recommend Record of Ragnarok it is a fighting manga of gods of different religions vs figures of humanity in a 1v1 fights to determine if humanity can live for another 1000 years. It’s fights are really unique from what I’ve read thus far. I’d give it 2-3 volume read as most people from the subreddit found fight 2 to be the hooker for them. The english release is in Spring 2022 I believe and if it’s not your cup of tea that’s totally fine. Great collection!
I too hope we get a Gantz Delux Edition soon. They are done with Hellsing and Berserk is also almost done, only 3 Volumes left. Hopefully we get an announcement by the end of the year of which new series is next. The art in Gantz definitely deserves the Delux treatment, specially in the last 10 volumes when you have a bunch of 2 pages panels showing the city, area and all the destructions and stuff going on, but even early stuff like the Buddhist Temple Arc have some amazing panels, the massive Osaka Arc and, though brief, the brutal Rome Arc, they would look gorgeous in a Delux.
Very nice! I'm surprised not to see any Osamu Tezuka! Message to Adolf is fantastic and the beautiful Vertical hardcovers are pretty cheap right now btw. ; )
recommendation: same author of not simple, seinen series titled house of five leaves. 8 volumes, complete, nice sig ikki's like dorohedoro release. about a shy samurai who gets involved in the criminal underworld. really good series, highly recommend. also recommend 3 volume series called voynich hotel as well as how many lightyears to babylon (one shot) by the same author.
I would love to see more Manga related videos from you. With such extensive knowledge, I would love to hear things like top 10 mystery manga recommendations etc. Just started getting into manga and am really enjoying them, but a little lost on what is out there.
I am always amazed at people's collections. I don't have the room for so much sadly, so my is small. I am trying to get the 3 in 1 Gantz because I didn't finish collecting it when it first came out (super tight budget is yet another reason) as well as thinking planning the same thing with Ranma 1\2.
Just started reading Drugstore In Another World. Don't know if you've read it or not, but if you haven't I recommend it. There's only gonna be five books, but the story is still really fun to read.
I love seeing the Pokémon. I found out they are only doing 10 collector's (it comes out in October). I'm thinking it's because it jumps into B/W and B2/W2. There's only 5 volumes for B/W and will only be 4 for B2/W2, but the 4th won't come out until July 2021. I've only read to half way of volume 2 of Pokémon, mainly because I want them all before I start really reading them. And I got distracted by Attack on Titan Before the Fall (A fantastic series by the way) and Given and some other mangas and books. But I just recently started buying manga so I don't have a lot
So my recommendations in case you haven't had them before that I didn't see in the collection are: Psyren, Astra Lost in Space, Kaguya Sama Love is War and That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime. I have some vol of these on my very small 100 vol collection and I love them. Thank you for sharing this literal heaven on earth!

Mate you have a fantastic collection right there!
3:54 start
I saw part 1-3 and immediately knew this was a good video
I was trying to find a manga I had saw the other day but couldn't remember the name so I came here, did not disappoint
I am always amazed at people's collections. I don't have the room for so much sadly, so my is small. I am trying to get the 3 in 1 Gantz because I didn't finish collecting it when it first came out (super tight budget is yet another reason) as well as thinking planning the same thing with Ranma 1\2.
Im not gonna lie bro you look exactly like Leonard from big bang theory! love the content. keep up the great work!
Remember the manga closet days? Congratulations!!!
Thanks for the video, it gave me quite some suggestions for future reading...
I wish u started a manga book club, because I would totally join with many ppl there
some of these manga spines are rlly nice like the dr stone ones. its so vibrant

I have some vol of these on my very small 100 vol collection and I love them. Thank you for sharing this literal heaven on earth!
Cool collection.I just started collecting manga I have 2 so far.
