Suboxone detoxification is a process of withdrawing from the drug under medical supervision. It usually involves tapering off Suboxone gradually by intaking reduced amounts of the drug over time. I don’t trust or respect suboxone prescribers. I would have been better off just coming of the opiates. Just because it’s legal, doesn’t mean it’s not a predatory scam.

True, however, in my case I went to detox for a week at a rehab. As soon as I was "free" to get more oxys I did. At the time I had just spent the last of savings so any more oxy purchases would have very negatively effected the household budget (basically I would have lost everything). I heard a commercial on the radio on my drive back home after getting oxys. As soon as I got home I started searching for a doc that could write a script for subs. That was in December of 2010, I just took my last dose of subs on 11/24/2022 @ 2 am. Subs may have saved me, I couldn't stop otherwise. As far as the doctor, he didn't have any issue with me being on subs for the rest of my life. I stopped because my doc decided to retire.

For everyone currently struggling to get through the suboxone withdrawals,I promise you it gets better but it is a longer battle than getting off the drugs themselves. I'll be 4 years off suboxone(5 years off the drugs) in March and for me the physical symptoms lasted between 10-14 days but the emotional and brain fog symptoms lasted 10 months and I was only taking a quarter piece a day of an 8mg strip. The only thing that kept me going was knowing I'd never have to go through these withdrawal symptoms again once my body got used to feeling normal again. I set a goal date to quit and vowed to it.The withdrawal is hard as hell but let me tell you, once you get through it you'll be so glad you did. You can begin to truly live again. Keep with it,it'll be worth it in the end.

Thank u for the encouragement!!! I've been on this poison for 4 years and I lost my job, so I had to quit going to the dr cause I lost my insurance. I spent all my time and funds buying off the street and I'm so damn sick of not being normal. The withdrawal is far more worse than anything I've ever felt and I guess that fear of knowing how it goes, has kept me from being off of them completely. But the time has come and I just want to be sober, and I want to make something of myself and not have to chase this bs any longer.

Detoxed from opiates at least 100 times during my 18 year opiate addiction. This is NUTS! I’m a RN, psych by experience and I’m telling you, this MAT is craZy. Doctors don’t taper patients off correctly, too fast. But, upside is, I have NO cravings and cannot even remember the euphoria high. PAWS is serious.🤬

Not sure if you're interested in this or if you have the insurance for it but the injectable form a buprenorphine is called sublocade. This is a game changer concerning the withdrawal symptoms from a long half-life opioid based medication lake buprenorphine Suboxone sublingual. This s*** gets released real slow into your system and allows your body to taper correctly people report coming off their last shot and experiencing no withdrawal whatsoever.

I've had the buvidal injection and I'm 3 months off, the insomnia- this is how my weeks pan out so far over 7 days.
2 days no sleep, 2 days 2 hours sleep, 1 day 4 hours sleep then back to the no sleep for 2 days!!!
      It's worse than a newborn 😂
Plus the mood swings because my brain is leveling out, the RLS is tough as fuck.
I've kept away from sleep medication in favour of natural remedies because we know where this goes....but I night just grab a few to help.
      I'm starting to fade here.

I'm 2 months into quitting without weining off after just over 10 years of taking it daily the first 2-3 weeks were s slog. The hardest part wasn't deciding to quit, it's choosing not to give in and take a piece. 2 months in, I feel great mentally and I'm loving my mental clarity and nit being DEPENDENT on substances. I'm still constantly fatigued and have trouble getting the energy to get through my work day but I get through it, everyday. My nights at this point are still hell. Mainly when I try and lay down, my legs are constantly irritated to the point I want to cry and just stay up all night pacing around my house and punching my legs. I have no access to medical care so I have to just do it. There's nights I literally get no sleep, then get in my truck n drive to work and get on a roof and go through the motions. I can deal with fatigue and soreness, my nights are the only thing that seem like I'm on a dark endless path with no light to be seen. But the improvement in my mental state outweighs it. I'm finding joy in not being a mental slave to addiction anymore after just about my entire adult life has been filled with it. I'm sticking on this path regardless how hard it is. I will NEVER touch suboxone again as long as live and that's a promise I've made to myself. It helps soooooo much, but the lingering effects are just unbearable at times. I'll come post a update to this comment in a few months and let yall know when I fully feel "normal" again, whatever that means. I just want to sleep at night and I'll be fine... wish me luck, it's 1 am CST right now and ...... yeah.

I took suboxone for 12 years, I started with 32 mg every 24 hours back in 2010 but tapered down to 1mg every 24 hours (12 hours of peace, 12 hours of misery). My last dose of subs was 11/24/2022 @ 2 am, over 18 days ago. I still have no energy, chills, and a very bad attitude. The first week I slept less than 8 hours total, now I'm getting 2-3 hours sleep per night.
I don't mean to scare anyone but for the last 3 years I was doing 2 mg or less per day, tapered to 1mg the last month (my suboxone level was so low I was going into withdraw every single day) but after 18 days of no suboxone I still feel horrible. On a more positive note, I did find that listening to classic music that triggers good memories helps, free dopamine is naturally released. It does help.

I have done h/fent withdrawal and suboxone withdrawal cold turkey. Let me tell you right now that if your thinking about getting on suboxone don't. Just go cold turkey. If I knew how much worse the suboxone withdrawal was I would of never got on it. With the h/fent withdrawal it lasted 8 days of hardcore withdrawal then I wad good. With the suboxone the physical withdrawal wasn't as intense but lasted 8 times longer. I tapered down to a tiny sliver but when I made the jump it was hard. Not only did it last way longer. I had such a clouded foggy mindset for a few months. I couldn't make a simple decision like what I wanted to eat. I also felt suicidal. Never have I had that off dope. Suboxone sounds like a miracle drug but for the love of God don't do it. It is way worse in my opinion. If it wasn't for my wife I wouldn't of made it. Been clean 5 years now.

Basically went down slow, adjusted for 2-3 weeks at new dose, and kept going. Took me 4 months or so. Now its just PAWS a couple times a day. Ill get anxiety, sweaty, clammy, and diarrhea still, even at 90 days. But its mostly just in the evening from 5-8pm. Other than that ive made it man. Its the hardest drug ive ever stopped by FAR. Now I was on subs for over 15 years and I was on 2 a day. I weened myself down to one a day to one every 3 days than I ran out. That familiar stomach pain is back. It already has been emotional. Subs mess with my emotions

I could hardly move, i just cried all day, very irritable, but it was night time that was the worst. I couldnt sleep but longer than 1 hour, then id be up for 3 , id wake up my whole body hurt soooo mad and was on fire!! The inside of my body was on fire!!!!! That was fhe worst part for me. Oh and i finally went to the emergency room on day 7, they treated me like shit!!!! Didnt help at all! Gave me 2 percs 😢I got back on them and now i want to taper down and get off these things! They helped me stay off hard drugs, but theyre a drug in themselves! Way harder to get off of then any other drug. I personally do not recommend!

I tapered Suboxone down to micro little crumbs of the orange. But when I totally stopped, I was in hell and pain for 3 weeks. And mu mind and body were off and not feeling good until about a year later.
It was worth it, though. Knowing you did not have to chase down drugs in orfder to not jonesing.
Relapse is part of the process so please do not despair! When you're ready, give it another try.

First, respect for trying to get clean. I mean that. Takes guts to do the right thing.
I was addicted from prescription painkillers. Tried to quit but I did not taper. two or three days of hell, I was prescribed Suboxone. Completely relieved withdrawal symptoms., But as someone who wanted to get clean, I realized I was now still addicted, But to a drug that did not give a high. Lose-Lose situation. I did eventually detox off Suboxone. It was living hell and, I am told, takes much much longer than opiate withdrawal.

They gave me 3-4 months worth of the sublicade shot, and then called my doctor and told them I’m done. Got off the shot and felt ZERO withdrawal symptoms. It was strange I know. But it was also a pain in the ass to get the shot ordered down to the doctors office. So I had to wait days, or a week after the 30 days wore off for my next shot. But still, no pain in between each shot.

I really had to learn how to deal with my emotions and being sober and abstinent I had one relapse and felt horrible and I'm glad I caught myself sometimes thank God we can catch ourselves and sometimes the guilt of relapse will cause a person to spiral out worse than ever but now I don't go certain places or be around certain people to do certain things. We have a facility in Florida that just recently came into the picture. It is a five day procedure where the doctor clean out the block of the receptors of the feel good hormones. Trying to do it. Cold turkey is impossible and very very dangerous healthwise. Tapering just a sliver, feel like a major dosage decrease. It’s best to go with these clinics from what I’ve learned. It's much easier to come off than methadone. I came off of 16mg of subs without cutting down. Not a great idea but it was really not that bad for me considering the amount I was on (still not easy but way better than other opioid drugs). I did get very hyper and did or got talked out of doing some very stupid things. The physical withdrawal was really not that bad (compared)but it did last a long time. The worst of it was getting to sleep and pain in my lower legs the latter lasted for months. Methadone was a whole nother animal. Even cutting down really slowly (at most 2mg a week) I had restless legs syndrome, all over body pain, insomnia, depression, fatigue etc etc and all before even stopping (which I never managed to do. I stopped the reduction at 18mg). Awful drug!

Not a doctor, but I am a past fent user and now on Suboxone. I have taken suboxone for 2 years from 24mg (1 month) then 20 months on 1.5-2.5 mg daily, then I tapered to .2-.5 mg a day and now I’m on 3 days off of it and it is about 5-10 for pain. NOW I will say that Suboxone clouds your brain heavily and messes with you, but in my opinion it is a great tool to get off h/fent. IF I WERE YOU I would take out all your medication and something to cut it with(I use a razor) then take out your dose and cut off a sliver the width of a dime, then fold that up and write the date of tomorrow on it then take out the next days done and cut off two dimes width, keep doing that till you are down to one tiny piece the width of a dime then taper off that size of dose for 5-7 days then cold turkey 🎉 think of sub as a tool to taper off your dose don’t take it like I did for 2 years because after 6 months you will realize how much it clouds your brain and affects your motivation to do stuff.

Depends on how many strips you take a day...

    • @JimmyKlef
      @JimmyKlef 5 месяцев назад

From what I have gathered a month isn't too bad. Basically anything over six months becomes holy shit. And over a couple years becomes borderline impossible. Acts of god are needed. And its crazy, the world doesn't have any idea the strength it takes. They just still look at people like they are weak. I know plenty of successful people that couldn't do this if their lives depended on it.
The longer your on, the harder it is. Also your starting point. If you had a tolerance of 80 mg oxy prior to subs... it won't be near as bad as 1000 mg equivalent. I came from poppy tea, and i was basically dead. My equivalence was about 1500... give or take another 500 mg equivalent. I should absolutely be dead. Suboxone absolutely saved my life and then ruined it.
They actually let me break the rules and prescribed me four strips a day to start. I still withdrew for months after getting on suboxone. As soon as I leveled out... i had the instinct and need to taper myself without even knowing. I just weened down and down. I thought it was hard to get down to three strips... but i was just still traumatized from some horrendous deadly withdrawals prior to subs and the fact i withdrew for months and months. My doctor told me i should be able to drop from 3 strips to 2 with almost no problem. I did so immediately and he was right. Next to no difference.
Then going from 2 strips (16 mg) to 1 (8 mg) was a bit tough but not too bad. Took my time. But around the 4 mg mark is when it started becoming really bad. Completely incapable as a human being. Literally couldn't tell you what love was anymore. Felt like a fucking sociopath for about a year. Out of my fucking mind. And I just got so sick of being a shell of a waste of a human I started tapering down pretty quick. Then I looked shit up and everyone suddenly was flipping out about how suboxone is the devil. I knew it somewhere inside. But it really only came out big in the past couple years.
Been racing to microscopic amounts since about a year ago. I basically have slightly withdrew every day for years. Tiny breaks i gave myself. It took for fucking ever.
Withdrawing from poppy seed tea was the most excruciating thing anyone could do. People die from it. Its like the thing people actually die from. Or extreme amounts of heroin for like a decade. My tolerance was not ok remotely. I had a tolerance that is impossible for most people on earth to achieve because of money. I had ways of obtaining an enormity of it that i was able to completely end my life with. I cannot believe i survived. And i really was adamant my whole life about never becoming an addict. I was in dire straights back then. Hell on earth.
It depends on where you are with a lot of things. How long you are on them is one factor of many. Say you are on 8 mg for a month... I would do a quick taper for 2 or 3 weeks and see how it goes. It's important to get off quickly, but also important not to disrupt your system so much that you go back to it. But it's a race. It really is around that time. the shorter your are on, the better. But it does not mean it will be easy.
Just do your best as quick as you possibly can.
I am currently beating it. My health is pretty bad now and i have to take a microscopic amount sometimes just to sleep. But I have gotten to such a small amount that I can even feel my body has started making up for the absence of the drug. I have gone a few days without completely but my health doesn't permit me never sleeping. So I am basically stuck at the very end again but I can do it. There's times I am withdrawing and already get relief now and then. I am pretty sure the last jump won't be too bad.
Don't get to this point. There are a million traps along the way.

My body is tired, but the worst thing I’m dealing w/ is RLS & insomnia due to RLS. I’m seeing ppl say it can take mths for physical symptoms to stop & even longer to feel mentally okay. I just need to know how long this first physical stage is. I read it’s abt ten days. Y’all, I am trying to be strong, but this sucks & it would be so easy to just take it & make it stop. The entire reason I’m quitting is b/c I have been on it for thirteen yrs, since I was twenty or so. I haven’t been right since I got on it. I lack motivation & I can’t lose weight b/c I’m always hungry due to the medicine. I know my brain chemistry is fucked. My biggest fear is it’s been too long & my brain will never recover. 😅

Not if you taper down reducing your 2 mg by 10-20 percent every 7-10 days. If you have some withdraw skip you reduction for a couple of days or go back to your previous dosage until withdraw stops. Then begin the taper again. You don't have to have the serious withdraws that you are reading about. almost all of these extreme withdraw symptoms are from not tapering slowly. And you can always use kratom short term.

I made the jump from 4mg cuz I ran out and couldn’t afford to see all these extremely expensive Drs plus the medicine with no insurance. So I said screw it. I’ve detoxed off heroine in jail more times I can count on both hands and it was fucken down right torture….. getting off suboxone for me is a walk in the park with annoying people that don’t shut the fuck up….. I’ll take that little longer withdrawals over the torture of dope ANY DAY! Oh and don’t jump from 4mg try to get down to the smallest amount possible

One month of feeling a little icky COMBINED WITH continuous therapy long after Suboxone has been stopped and withdrawals have subsided, is a million times better than being hooked on street narcotics, especially if they're used intravenously. That's the idea, anyway. But where I live, there's no "few months on Suboxone"; it takes about 3 months ON Suboxone to get comfortable and knowledgeable about the program (group and individual therapy sessions, drug screens) that goes along with the medication and the doctor's visits. When I first started Suboxone, I was being Rxd 1 week of medicine at a time, being required to come to both a weekly doctor appointment for my refill and a weekly group therapy session, and an individual therapy session every 2 weeks. After 3 months of following those requirements, I was moved up to group and individual therapy sessions 2x a month, same with doctor appointment for refill. I'm currently seeing my doctor (for Rx) my group and my individual therapist once a month. When Id fail a drug screen, I'd move down a step for 90 days, then if I'm clean for those 90 days, I'd move back up. And that's how it's been for almost 5 years. I don't think 3 months of Suboxone is all it'll take to keep someone from relapsing, not at all.

I got on this because I couldn’t stop shooting hydro morphine and dope, and even tho I don’t have craving now and haven’t I feel like if I tapered I would but I wanna so bad. I’m literally 140 pounds anymore it’s bad.

If I can do it you can do it my friend. Taper down to the smallest possible piece, then start skipping days. Then start skipping two days. Some of these comments are exaggerated. I agree it's not fun but if you really want it I think you'll be surprised that it's easier than you thought.
You have to have the mindset of embracing the pain of it. Rather than thinking of it as pain think of it as your body healing & embrace it. That small change in my mindset made a world of difference

I watched someone taper all the way down from 8 mg a day to a 1/16th of a milligram, about a 10-20% reduction per week , and had virtually no withdraw . Jumping off at 1-2 mg is equivalent to jumping from a 40-80 mg oxy habit, unwise . Keep the taper going people, y'all jumping from too high . At least taper down to a 1/4 of a milligram , transition to some short term kratom for the final stretch if need be.

Kratom is awful for most people. I tried stopping methadone via kratom and wanted to die! Then I went and detoxed 60 mg methadone inpatient at a treatment center. I’ve been on 8mg for 2.5 years and now ready to stop. Any advice?

    • @Pax_Mayn3
      @Pax_Mayn3 Год назад

@@amandaruck9744 Yes. Save up a year worth of money, and then throw away your phone so you can't call for anything. Have people cook you food and things like that, and then just suffer. I didn't have to work at the time, but it was acute withdrawal for months, and horrific symptoms for years.
You might not get it as bad as me, but, it's basically impossible unless you can sit around and do nothing for VERY long periods of time.
Youre supposed to taper to less than 10mg methadone and then use kratom.... But since you switched to subs youre gonna have no options since it blocks everything. Youd have to go 4 days or so without and then try kratom, maybe sooner, it all depends. But you need to get down to like a quarter milligram, even less.
I feel for you, I really do. Id honestly say switch back to methadone, then switch to morphine, oxy, heroin etc and withdraw from that. The doctors lied to you. Either way you have to withdraw, so do you want to go through an EXTREMELY long and intense withdrawal? Or a short withdrawal? Doctors are evil.
