CMOS Battery is supposed to lasts several years, but if you use a PC a lot and put it on sleep often, it will drain faster and may only last 1 - 2 years. Just replaced mine after issues which are now fixed.
It can also be because of windows7 being old with no updates resetting the time and date after every reboot i had this issue with a new battery installed and still got error optiplex 760
It is possible. I have upgraded this particular desktop to windows 10 now but if you have windows 7 system then test out if updating to windows 10 fixes the issue. Thanks.
I just replaced mine---Dell Optiplex 780 battery . When i tried to reboot the PC it gets to the Windows 7 icon & stops . After 2 days of trying everything i found out that Dell PCs will change your BIOS settings if you remove this battery . I had to tap F2 on startup to enter BIOS settings . Once in , find the setting for BAD----it will be checked as ALL . Uncheck this & then check ACHI . Exit BIOS---the PC will now reboot & set your Date//time---error will be gone.
I have a dead hp CPU and when I tried to fix it I remove a CMOS battery and when replacing I forgot - + position and I search solution in RUclips but all the cpu used for demonstration have the battery lying flat position and mine is standing vertical position... Kindly help me....
Thank you! I hope the video helps to replace the CMOS battery in your computer. If your computer is a few years old be careful in popping out the old battery from the battery holder... the plastic of the battery holder may have become brittle and can break. Hold the battery holder with two fingers and gently pop out the hold battery and insert the new one. I hope this tip helps. Best wishes.
the battery change fixed the issue for me and the desktop is working well ever since. I have also done the same fix to several laptops in the past. If yours did not work out, check that battery has power, and the connectors are in good shape. I hope it helps.
Yes, with the new battery install the error will clear. But be careful and gentle in removing the old battery from computer because the plastic battery holder may be too dry and can break apart. Hold the battery holder with one hand and gently pop out the old battery. Install it the same way, hold the battery holder with one hand and pop in the new battery. Best of luck
Oh, that isn't good! :( I have replaced many CMOS batteries in computers the 'low system battery' error always went away after the new battery is installed. Is there a way to check whether the new battery has power (check with volt meter), and the new battery is making good connection with motherboard?
Hey so sorry, I am just now seeing your message. Did you get the issue resolved? i hope there was a way to safe-boot the computer and fix the issue. Best wishes!
When you say 'it does not work', do you mean computer is not working? or the new CMOS battery is not working? If you installed a new CMOS battery and computer boots up but you still get the same error like the one I show in my video, then check the battery connection to the motherboard, check that battery is installed correctly, and lastly check that new battery installed is a good battery - use a voltmeter, or if you don't have a voltmeter you can connect flashlight bulb to this battery with wire and see if it lights up. I hope this helps
Have you tried to remove the battery and then disconnect / reconnect the cable again, then install the battery. Also, is the new battery the same power as the old one?
I included the open method in the other video I made about this Dell Desktop ...but totally forgot to include it here :( So sorry! If you have Dell Optiplex 780 then please see my video ruclips.net/video/vLIlJQFhd-g/видео.html from count 2:15 which shows how to open it. No tools are needed, just pull on the pull-tab located on top and the side of the computer will open up! Most desktop computers have screws on the back or side which need only a Phillips screw driver (with four sides like + sign) to open. If you are not successful in opening your computer then please send me the made/model of your computer and I will try my best to help. Best wishes!
It is not a rechargeable battery. But a good brand name battery lasts at least 5+ years. It is easy to find in a walmart, target, cvs etc, or Amazon. The description of this video includes link in case you would like to order online.
This is interesting... when you get a chance please double-check the battery has power and is installed with correct +/- contacts. Or that battery connector contacts are not broken. That happened to me in recent replacement and I had to use a trick to fix it. Other than that, I have replaced CMOS battery in many desktops & laptops and it fixed the error ever time.
@@FlyBeee did u really told me: double-check the battery has power and is installed with correct +/- contacts // after i said: after some restarts it will repeat the fk problem? Where did u saw PC's boot if u have placed bios battery up side down?
If English is your primary language, you need to seriously practice it, because I understood the whole video without the subtitles. Maybe it's a problem with your speakers/headphones, but the English was, overall, pretty clear.
@@MattMarkYT Compared to other videos with the same speakers, the sound is bad. That's a fact, that's not an insult. Feeling offended by proxy is a ridiculous reaction.
@@Galmaril I'm not offended. I just find it really funny how you're the only one to point this out. Out of everyone who watched the video, you're the only one with this problem. Yeah he has a slight accent, but it's pretty mild. That's like telling someone with a slight British accent that their English is hardly understandable. Or if you're British, telling someone with a slight Australian accent that their English is hardly understandable. I got a good laugh out of it.
@@MattMarkYT Before answering, you should understand what is said. I'm not talking about his accent, I'm talking about the quality of the sound. And I'm not saying that English is not HIS mother tongue, I'm saying that English is not MY mother tongue, so when the sound is bad, it makes it difficult for me to understand.
Thank you for this video! I use my desktop for music and I was freaking out about that alert. Thought it was something super serious.🤙🤙

What is model number of your HP computer? Does your computer power up without the battery?
But did this work? Would've been nice if you showed the whole process and final outcome after install of new battery! 😁
Yes, replacing the battery fixed the issue. in hindsight, should've included the ‘after’ clip! lol
I dont know what im doing wrong. Its still doing the same thing after i replaced it with a new battery. I did all the steps as well.
Have you checked the connections to see if these are intact? battery installed correct side up? and double-checked battery voltage?
he changes something in settings after he changes it:

Could the battery cause my computer (same computer) to not boot up? I have a yellow light on my motherboard.
It may, if battery is shorted or has a leak. Remove /pop out the battery and then start the computer to see if this makes a difference.
Nope. Guessing motherboard. I'll start looking them up.
