This took 3 hours, what a grind! Might not be the most exiting episode but I hope you all enjoy and please let me know which game you would like to see next on the channel. :)
need a few more technologies.. wooden Shields (copper or iron age?) mead halls / great house: Have an ability to throw a victory party or something in regards, uses some of your food, but boosts morale/fertility (everyone gets jiggy with it after a downing a few ;) Could also have the ability to parlay with the raiders, you either are succesfull (no raids for a season) or fail, (get a HUGE raiding party hit your village) Inns (travelers, bards): Travelers can reveal secret locations of rare beasts or such as they pass their lore! Adds dynamic missions? (kill rare beast, obtain shiny object, rare megalith stone?) Raiders would be cool if they fired "Fire arrows" and also waved torches onto the building lighting them afire. Peasants will have to use the water wells to douse the fires out and then repair. and yes fire should spread to close buildings! Raiders should have raiding dogs also!
Stone towers. Honestly, stone walls FEEL like they come way too late in game, and stone towers need to come at the same time. I think the reason for this feeling is that there are so few Bronze Age and Iron Age techs, when there should be LOADS of them. Another thing they should do if the developers are going to wade into the Iron Age is to make proper stone walls with ramparts - as opposed to these stone palisade-things we're seeing. Also, plaster. Everything should be covered in plaster. These towers being killed by arrows, even flaming ones is silly. Raiders are a threat to a walled settlement because of stealth and speed, you shouldn't be losing defensive structures to mere raiders PERIOD. Before people start screaming about how OP defenses are, I have two comments. One, defensive structures were OP (against raiders). Two, defenders still die due to arrow-fire, they just die a lot less than the attackers.
if you want good harvests you must prioritize all your fields that's what i do on my game and it work really well and you can define the production limits of all tools to 25% of your population it's enough for everything and it prevent your city to stop working because all people go to harvest or something else at the same time
Can you rename characters? It would be so much fun imo. Imagine if instead of saying Hufgh died of old age, it would say Hufgh Lionclaw has died of old age. There were several instances where one hunter took down a dangerous animal all alone, I think they should be memorated. Or check this Glugh Stoneraiser, one who helped raise up a monolith into one of those stone henge thingies. What would be even cooler if their children would inherit their nicknames, turning it Into family names. But sadly from what I've observed the game lacks a family system altogether
If you have more than 30 sheep constantly producing wool, you can make so much wool clothing between trader visits that you can always pay with them and just buy everything without even looking. The outfits are an infinite cheap resource with a value of 10 (at least in my age).
Thanks for the great series Keralis was a lot of fun watching. And something i will buy when it comes out. As a new play through series take a look at Kerbal Space Program it got it's full release this year (Don't be scared of the fails many Kerbals will be lost but that's what makes it great and funny)...I know it's slightly out of your box for games but it is well worth a try. Also Subnautica got it's release this year would make another good series. Have a great New Year to you and your family looking forward to seeing more great content in 2019 :)
When you come back continue on that village plsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
an early strategy might be to cull some animals at the beginning of winter to reduce straw consumption. I might like the addition bees and berry cultivation. This does look like a fun game
Viking age and Roman era , etc etc would only be amazing if it were properly implemented. I guess it could work, as long as you have a quota of soldiers you need to send to the Army or Raiders. You wouldn't be able to control the armies yourself since Wars are not a thing in this game. Although it could be pretty cool to build a big city, send soldiers to the Army, and eventually, by contributing enough manpower to the wars, would be awarded to take control of newly conquered cities or villages, from Gaul, to Egypt, to Macedonia, etc etc. And have an already built city, half destroyed by war, and have to rebuild it. Yeah it could be cool but the devs would have to work a lot. Personally much prefer they stay in the Iron Age and keep adding to the already existing game.
Imo it would be nice if once you reached steel you than can decide if you whant to go vikings or roman age or medival. That would be a nice option to incrase playtime because you have to play threw several times.
@@BlackBanditXX no romans (Imperium Roman (if you are talking about early then yes - but thats not roman empire)) came after, vikings definitely after. (however, you may be calling northmen "vikings")
Keralis, thank you for such an amazing series. I enjoyed it a lot. I was wondering whether you'll play Parkitect. You've done Planet Coaster in the past so I was wondering if this is something that might be of interest to you. Another one is Fortnite Creative. I'm not a fan of Fortnite but I've seen a couple of videos on Fortnite Creative and it seems like something you would be very good at. :D
Pooling donkeys need stables, and....migrate! That lake is taunting you! It farts in your general direction! Loved this series, watched every minute, subbed, and added it to my to wish list on Steam. Even bought Banished in the off chance it might be similar. Thank you!
Enjoyed this series! But the fact that you can't leave the area, mount attacks on raider bases, makes it pretty much one dimensional city builder. Happy New Years !~
Your migration was hampered by the lack of logistics. A series of wells, house or two to rest, and granaries leading to the lake would have helped. I really like your build strategy, I'm super stoked to play this.
Awesome job, Keralis. :D I agree that the towers crumble a bit too easily, but for having three archers within them it helps. I still like the idea of the scattered watchtowers like on the mountains/hills, but it would be a bit difficult to constantly man them, having villagers running to each tower. xD
Simply, I adore your commentary, way how you play games and everything. Just want to ask you, how about to see you playing some games you already played in the past? Games like ETS, Ylands (you played this game very well), cities: skylines... At least you could mention them do you plan to play them or not... I hope you will read this comment. Wish you all the very best in your life, and your gaming. Bye Keralis.
Any type of game like this would be great to watch you. You seem very knowledgeable about these types of games and I did enjoy watching the way this game progressed very much, so thank you and I look forward to the next game you pick...
In the interim, you should still go for the lake, just do it in smaller steps. Make upgraded little forts and you'll make it to the lake. There are lots of resources around to support the smaller forts.
I hope they will add a feature which would allow you to do raids on other settlements as well that would be awesome. Reminds me so much about the old game stronghold crusaders. Cant wait til it gets out. I enjoyed watching this!
Awesome playthrough! I so loved the idea of the outer forts; it was a touch of brilliance. I will most definitely implement keralis forts in the fringes of my farmlands once I play this game myself. I do wonder if once the game comes out if it will have only this one continental European forest map or if several scenarios like tropical coastal village, desert, tundra, or pleistocene open prairie may be available. It would be so cool to deal with the trying conditions of such extreme environments and far less game breaking than adding additional ages were the self contained isolation of the village is no longer believable.
Watched your entire play through. I enjoy your content. You certainly made this game far more interesting. Perhaps start another play through with a new location on the map? New location is a new challenge. Also try the harder mode perhaps?
Keralis, I think the gates are supposed to be facing OUTWARDS, because it looks like the 'warrior' type of people stand next to the gate and if the gates are facing outwards, then they will be outside the gate. And if they are outside of the gate. They can go start fighting the raiders, before they can break down walls.
Generally you want your warriors behind the gates to maximize attrition from archer fire and give extra time for the troops to arrive and organize behind the city walls, so when the gates are breached and the opponent exhuasted you are well rested and prepared to charge-structures and animals are cheap, human lives not so much historically.
This game looks amazing. And it not done yet. These developers are doing a great job. A suggestion would be if you can make walls out of stone, you should be able to make stone towers as well. But I am sure they are already working on it.

You could try putting the gates on the side of the fort furthest away from the city. I guess they might use the right side then. Then again, the forts work nicely as is.
You might want to have a look at stonehearth. Its like this in a more Minecraft like world. Custom buildings. Worker tree . And challenges and multiple settings to play in.
So looking forward to playing this game. :) Just gonna say I always wanted a post-apocalyptic mod for Banished, that desire is now shifted to Dawn of Man. Lol.
Historically speaking, gates were opened to the outside. It's easier to breach a gate which opens to the inside. So you've had that fort gate in a correct way. Except game mechanics are different
Keralis, it's very naughty of you taunting me with this amazing game I can't play yet. lol Guess I'll go play Banished for a while and be happy until Dawn of Man is released. :)
