Hey, some neat effects in the first part of the video Pete. Looks like you are totally absorbed in this project. That is a key to the success of the project. You are doing a wonderful job touching things up and prepping the car for the body shop. You make their job so much easier. It is a good favor you do by stressing the safety equipment people should use. I see dangerous things being done every day and if you access the situation, you can always find better and safer ways of doing things. I gotta say for a man using a grinder to cut out and patch in metal, it is very tight specs and looks great. Your keen eye and steady certainly saves you a lot of time. That is the first I have ever heard of many of these products. The floor is looking really nice. It is amazing to see as it is nearly as good as new without a priming or painting. I guess it serves to prove the extra amount of work not ccaptured on camera. Countless hours for sure. That's passion in the deepest sense of the word. The measurements you took were magically on the money. If not for your caution and persistence in accuracy, this car would be a real challege to put back together. There is little room for error. It was really odd seeing the old, unrestored seat inside the car being mounted up. What a reminder of how far you've come . The floor biscuit / bungs reinstall was neat and looks like the factory job all over again. It is great that they survived all this time for a reinstall many years later. I think we lost a bit of audio in the later section but it was not for long. The floor is looking great after a spray job for sure. You are going all out with even the sound proofing. That'll pay off in the end. The imperfections at this point is at a bare minimum I bet. Great eye for detail. Thanks for the bloopers Pete. I look forward to the next installment. All the best at the NEC my friend. Get some well deserved rest... That being said, I think you are busier than a rooster in a three storey hen house. hahaha. All the best and God bless.

As usual...bloody superb. What an amazing job so far. The pro restorers would be seriously proud of this resto. It actually can't get any better! I've had a run of cars in my workshop where I have had to redo negligent work by other supposedly reputable garages. Brakes and suspension of all things dangerous. Certainly won't be redoing any of Pete's work. 10/10 with a positive phone call home and some smiley faces stamped in your planner. Oops, sorry......back to my teaching days there...…..
Its really shaping up good, great work, very nice floor pan with restored brace. I myself have been purchasing what I need in tools and temporary shelter building to do an engine and transmission, and someday I am gonna have me a small workshop like yours no doubt. I bought my first transmission jack ever, unlike the welded up home made thing I made decades ago that was basically useless for complex removal and install,...and I bought myself a portable car garage, one that has steel framework and uv resistant soft outer shell, like a heavy tarp,..ha, well, I'm gonna put back yard repair work into a real science for all to see, maybe even to laugh at, but at least I have a huge out building "shed" of wood I will turn into a engine and transmission refurbishment area. I will make do with what I have, later one when I have to do some welding on my corroded out battery box area, tig or mig, I might have to erect my metal "shed", a huge metal "building",...I am just getting started, thats all. These videos give me "inspiration", I mean, I am gonna have to make more money and find a way to have a shop somewhere so I can do classic car work all the time, maybe even for a living ,....maybe. I think my next video will be showing my collection of new and old tools and my how I improve an engine removal crane, a two ton model, with large pneumatic tires in order to remove heavy engines or other things on uneven ground like dirt or gravel,...like if I want an engine out of something somewhere, or such like that. I am moving full ahead. My main points will be engine and transmission rebuild, at least I have a small building I will perform those in. It will be likely next month I get started once my portable "garage" arrives, and other tools and I get everything set up.

I have spent all my life blissfully unaware of transverse floor-pan braces. With the body shell denuded like that, it's easy to understand its importance.
No!! I must stay strong and resist! Can’t watch cortina city on my phone. I’ll wait till tonight and have my favourite Wednesday night viewing! I’m sure it’ll be worth it, Pete!
Tig welding gauntlets are what you need. Thin, fireproof & easy to manipulate your small thing. And by the way, where’s your welding screens you nutter? You’re going to give us all Arc-Eye if you’re not careful. 😂 Croc sander is American Finger sander is British🇬🇧👍
thanks for this!!! I was wary of the ally tread plate i have, but no flashes yet, it seems ok, i have helmet right down, yes i did have some tig gauntlets, burnt them n all !! lOL !!
Great to meet you at the NEC on Friday Pete, your making a fantastic job of the welding ( i was the one quizzing you about the paint inside the sills) Nice to see your a really sound bloke in person too. All the best mate
@@PeteCswampy Thanks- It is at the same time very entertaining and awesome to watch your clips. On this car you have done some incredible work to bring the car back alive. Bramble will most likely be even better car when finished. than it was back in time at the showroom. The work so far have been first rate! Cheers!
Nobody got the apocalypse now reference lol. Very good video. I was worried that the gaps between the wing and the scuffle where too noticeable but you say that was normal tolerance for a mk3 so it should look fine when it's done.
Hi Pete 😀 Another fantastic video on Bramble 👍🏻 Love the way you try and save as much as Bramble as you can ...........😁 You should of mater the titanic and it may not of sunk lol 😆 On wards and upwards with the fabulous Bramble project Stevie 😆
Chuffin nora Pete, you are whizzing through this resto, Bramble is already far stronger than the old girl was, and it must be a good feeling to see progress
Yet another great video Pete full of info as usual, amazing how fast your moving on, love the intro and the out takes. Can't make NEC but gotta catch you soon 👍
hi Pete , will be a nice one when finished, just how i like my rides, two door (lighter) and we all know the best cars on earth all have automatic transmission , not forgetting another must , a good powerful audio setup. have you considered, installing a modern engine/transmission (auto)( any make) in bramble, could be good? do you plain to keep all you restorations, or just keep you favourites . keep up the work, great entertainment.🚗
"wasn't really sure what was going on" - none of them received a heroes welcome . Poignant quotes sampled from Paul Hardcastle's Nineteen . Also recommended listening is John Fogerty's "l saw it on TV" . What a great song , "Every night at six , they showed the pictures and counted up the score " refering to the US TV evening news that ran a tally of deaths up on the screen . Sobering stuff . Indeed the whole album , Centerfield , is excellent , check it out Pete , must have been mid to late eighties , but l doubt you'd hear it on Absolute 80's . Anyways , loved this double bill episode , project is really coming on . Enjoy some rest and the NEC . Car shows aren't really my thing , bit elitist and cliquey if you know what l mean . Agree that the brown paint on the floor is more like Bourneville than the Cadbury's Dairy Milk shade that the previous parts painted came out like . Which do you prefer , Dairy Milk or Bourneville ? (Chocolate l mean , not paint shade !)
WHich cartoon was real. yes i checked it out, the A bomb fears. folky and a bit of campbell / mclean... has to be dairy milk but then again i like dark bounty bars
@@PeteCswampy any word of Mike's project Pete? There were a good few videos and them nothing. Always enjoy your vids Pete. Just don't have the time to sit and watch them in their entirety now. But I do watch a fair bit or spend a week watching one video. Keep it up.
Good progress mate gota say you never cease to impress have to say though it woulda bugged me seeing that corner section had been attacked by the rust I would have ended up cutting it out and putting in a newly made piece .... this is why everything 'I do, takes twice as long if I come across something that isn't as good as it once was I've just gotta fix it ...... it can sometimes be a drag being a perfectionist, lol I've been restoring a candy gold FS1E "for five years" I restore vintage Jap bikes this one's a keeper it only usually takes me between six and eight months to bring something back from the dead a year tops depending on what it is and how bad it is when I first get it but if it ain't right it's gettin done and if I'm not happy with a part it's gettin replaced 'or fixed 'to the best of my abilities' coz otherwise I don't sleep at nights ... OCD working overtime.
the main reason I kept it was that i had made reference holes, however i thought exact same as you on this, overall it JUST made the grade for me but was close. its one of those times I think, I aint perfect and in the larger picture of timescales and keeping orginal parts it slipped thru, i dont think it will present any problem, but yes i knwo what you mean as you know its there, i think that with the edges repaired, its only question of pin holes, and the patch to rear was braze filled, i dont always film everything or you end up with 3 gours films and people complain, the piece was soild enought, but i DO know what you mean totally get what you say and the bikes sound great, i grew up on RD50s fizz and 50 and 70 plops
I think he made the right call. It's good enough to do its job, which is to add strength to the car and it's good to keep as much of bramble as he can since most of the panels are to be replaced.
@@colinjohnston8519 I can see why Pete's gone with it I'm just saying 'I'd have had to replace it or it would of bugged the hell out of me, I know he's wanting to preserve as much of Bramble as possible as the saying goes 'if it ain't broke don't fix it and to be fair what he's done so far on this restoration is nothing short of amazing and I think I've said that in other posts I think Pete knows I wasn't being picky it was really just an observation/point of view nothing more, keep up the great work Pete you're doing a hell of a job ;)
Lovin your work Pete, as mentioned here you are making these cars better than they were when they left the factory, floor pan and bulkhead look better than new so what more can you say.... maybe perfection at work!! Oh, liked the intro with the steering wheel LOL!! Looks like the idiots are still here with the thumbs down, stupid #####!! John (Norfolk)
Great work Pete, amazing progress you're making. Will you be doing similar to Ruby before the car goes to the bodyshop, snagging and looking for any imperfections? Keep the fantastic videos coming, we all appreciate the effort you put in.
Pete C. You must bring Ruby or Swampy to Wollaton Hall near Nottingham in June at their classic car show. You would win 1st price for sure. I love to chat to you if you attended.
Another stellar job and video! I've been wondering what you are going to do regarding the rearview mirrors? Wing mount as they were or door mounted? btw- I love in Spinal Tap when he's stuck inside the pod onstage
Lovely work as always Pete. When you are seam sealing you've finished! Well you are when like me you can't / won't do the body finishing and paintwork. I know what my limitations are and I suspect you do too. As for looking around on your days off did you get to check out that Mk III in Liverpool? I commented with a YT link? Possibly just more spares but who knows? Enjoy the NEC and I am sorry I can't be there to say 'How Do'...
can you resend th elink, ive missed this??? i can look as im in Liverpool every day. i can do filler work but nowhere near as good as the pros, Richard has helped me / done the scuttle blend in perfect
Really loving your vids Pete, my first ever car was a1974 MK3 XL estate in sapphire blue overhead cam with a black vinyl roof. I really wish I still had that beauty. just out of curiosity how much does a fully restored one of these fetch? Thanks so much for sharing your vids, brings back so many good memories of my youth, all the very best ...Trev.
Hi Trev, thanks for reply!!! its difficult to say as there are so many ones that look restored but havent had a high level of detailed work, this makes the market tricky, you can get what looks like a good mk3 for say 5k, but it most likely will be less detailed. its the detail level that puts the money up, if you go to town or your resto and do it properly you should be looking to insure the car for minimum 20K. to sell a concors...i would say 18-20k, to make a living and make a profit, sell for 40k which of course, is not easy
Hi pete, thanks for your reply. I was wondering if it was just a labour of love or if you could make a good profit < I have seen some vids that claim a restore and even look ok but you just know in a year or so will present problems again, unlike your great restorations I hasten to add!!! If only we could go back in time and put our old cars in some kind of time capsule eh! Keep up your cracking work and hats off to you mate, your doing a great job and cant wait to see how "Bramble" turns out, just know shes gonna be a beauty, all the very best....Trev

Alright!...for the first time ever I have become a patreon contributor,...my first time to anything,...just a minor contributor for now, $5 club, errrr, used my real name B.......D......., ha, while the costs for starting up my own project is bleeding me dry, I can afford a small amount at first. I lucked out on my work weekend to find out my twenty five year old engine removal hoist/crane still works and I didn't lose any bolts when I disassembled it during the move ten years ago, the hydraulic, last used fifteen years ago, bought twenty five or twenty six years ago and used for engines personally and at a shop I worked as a mechanic at for awhile, made sure to operate the hydraulic ram every couple years, protect the ram shaft from moisture by application of grease film, changed out the fluid several times since new, ...had to buy new steel castor wheels off ebay though.
@@PeteCswampy Nah, they didn't seize, I had used the engine crane, a chinese made 2 ton model, non folding model(they didn't make cheaper engine cranes back then to fold), and I had moved the engine crane on some rough driveway and rough shop floor, and dragged it through loose dirt to the in front of the old shop building I once used, the bearings fell out cause the cheap castor swivel shafts stretched or something,....luckily I have a set of castors right here I could widen the bolt holes on or I do have another set with a same width and length top mounting plate that might be drop in coming in from an ebay purchase, ....and I also will be modifying the engine crane to have large pneumatic tires, when needed, either all four ten inch or two ten inch in front and two thirteen inch in back, for removing engines and heavy assemblies on dirt, like if I find deals on rebuildable engines and need to extract those away from home, or even using it down my non paved driveway to bring in a remanufactured engine if I determine my engine can't be rebuilt. I never see this modification, and I know it can work if I need it, but the castors will be rolling on some concrete slabs I will emplace, really, I might just lay a concrete slab,...need to get a better place elsewhere to do things, who knows, I plan on keeping on doing things in the future finally, making videos, etc etc. My old engine crane, though chinese, seems a direct copy of professional equipment, very heavy made, more heavy made than they make them these days,...they really make them to fold up so they can be shipped in smaller boxes from China like alot of things. I'm gonna remake my 10x16 foot long outer building into a engine and transmission workshop along with storage, of course,...anyway, I have it all worked out......haha, seemingly.
yes the air tyres for gravel or rough driveway, i have done same for my car dolly, homemade, my welds are bit rough from early days lol, and i had a tyre EXPLODE eddy the whole plastic wheel exploded when i was to take car for NEC !!! luckily i had spare dolly wheel!!! are you in UK#/?
@@PeteCswampy No, I am over here in the USA, state of Oregon,...southern Oregon coast, ....just near Coos Bay/North Bend cities and bay,...a long ways away.
@@PeteCswampy Yeah, and luckily, I have all sorts of welding equipment, to modify the engine crane with 5/8" axles, for installation only when I would need to....tires are rated for 350 pounds, multiply by four, that makes a half ton, over a thousand pounds capacity. Who knows, maybe later i might get a lighter in weight folding engine crane for that sort of thing, maybe a one ton model, which would be lighter in weight to load up into my heavy diesel powered chevy 3/4 ton 1997 truck I own. Technically, my old truck has a commercial grade hitch that could be used to tow car trailers with vehicles on, it has a heavy duty tow package. Really, I have a fondness for smaller vehicles more, always have, those with smaller engines, of which I have a metal building, a sort of large shed, I can erect later, for smaller projects or welding inside, here or elsewhere. that's the plan, at least getting a 1999 chevy trailblazer four wheel drive back on the road this year, the focus of the upcoming "work",...gonna be some welding too,...battery box area damage.
"and then we came back and it was different and everyone wanted to know"......" what happened to them guys over there?" ..."theres gotta be something wrong somewhere...and people wanted us to feel ashamed for what it made us....".... " all we wanted to do was come home". Was it worth it.
after watching a rather sad up n comming event of meny cars going to waste i need something better, a nice mk3 being restored getting there up t' part 18 and 19 double feature late night picture show, oooo hhoo ooh ho, i wanna go! hmm i think a drink is in order

Seriously well done mate....you're a brave lad.
See you Friday Pete I'm looking forward to having a day off can't wait, cheers kev
Nice one Kev!!! introduce yourself as its gonna be busy i think!!
Nice to have met you at the NEC Pete keep up the hard work on Bramble she soon be mint again thank you mate 👍
I have spent all my life blissfully unaware of transverse floor-pan braces. With the body shell denuded like that, it's easy to understand its importance.
DEFFO ! this transverse cross member forms a lot of the rigitity of the shell
No!! I must stay strong and resist! Can’t watch cortina city on my phone. I’ll wait till tonight and have my favourite Wednesday night viewing! I’m sure it’ll be worth it, Pete!
DOWNTOWN with the CROC!!!!!!!!! ABSO Brill as always Pete.
cracking job pete always look forward to seeing your next episode wish I had your skills
Tig welding gauntlets are what you need. Thin, fireproof & easy to manipulate your small thing.
And by the way, where’s your welding screens you nutter? You’re going to give us all Arc-Eye if you’re not careful. 😂
Croc sander is American
Finger sander is British🇬🇧👍
thanks for this!!!
All the best mate
keep up the good work Pete, looking good. The two door are such a sexy car
Another great video can't wait for nec footage

Totally epic intro!
Amazing job and well done! Cheers Mate!
OLLIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes !!! you back !!!!!! i always look out for you thank you
@@PeteCswampy Thanks- It is at the same time very entertaining and awesome to watch your clips. On this car you have done some incredible work to bring the car back alive. Bramble will most likely be even better car when finished. than it was back in time at the showroom. The work so far have been first rate! Cheers!
Well Done !! movin fast !!
excellent, really good job, keep up the good work bud.
thanks Arnie!!
Way to go Pete , you crazy man see you Saturday 👍🍺
you betcha
Love the intro to these vids Pete... I'm getting my weekly Cortina fix again 👍
no probs Karl!!!!
Section two looking good.
Nobody got the apocalypse now reference lol. Very good video. I was worried that the gaps between the wing and the scuffle where too noticeable but you say that was normal tolerance for a mk3 so it should look fine when it's done.
Hi Pete 😀 Another fantastic video on Bramble 👍🏻 Love the way you try and save as much as Bramble as you can ...........😁 You should of mater the titanic and it may not of sunk lol 😆 On wards and upwards with the fabulous Bramble project Stevie 😆
nice onE!!!!
Great progessKeep it up mate.Great to see .
Chuffin nora Pete, you are whizzing through this resto, Bramble is already far stronger than the old girl was, and it must be a good feeling to see progress
You must be well happy, great job great video .

OH BOY- OH BOY, Pizza, Wine, Cortina City and Project Bramble Ep. 18 + 19 and it's only Wednesday Evening... Somebody up there loves me!
YOU ARE WELCOME !!!!!!! AS ALWAYS !!!!!!!!! I DO ENJOY YOUR LONG REPLIES, SO MUCH TO READ..AS WE SAY HERE IN UK...."SMASHIN" Peter.
First. Geez, thought you had painted it white in the first few seconds. Loving this rebuild.
thanks Robert
hi Pete , will be a nice one when finished, just how i like my rides, two door (lighter) and we all know the best cars on earth all have automatic transmission , not forgetting another must , a good powerful audio setup.
have you considered, installing a modern engine/transmission (auto)( any make) in bramble, could be good?
do you plain to keep all you restorations, or just keep you favourites . keep up the work, great entertainment.🚗
Get a tape with a magnetic tip.
Spinal Tap, That'd be me :)
Great vid Pete hopefully see ya at the NEC mate 👍
OK Kev, introduce yourself im in Hall 5, mk3 cortina club
She's coming along now Pete. Getting more solid by the vid. You've come a long way since the early days of swampy. Watching since 2012 I think lol
thanks George!!!!! always like the fact we kept in touch!!! you were there for me in the early days !!!! i wont forget the support you gave George
@@PeteCswampy any word of Mike's project Pete? There were a good few videos and them nothing. Always enjoy your vids Pete. Just don't have the time to sit and watch them in their entirety now. But I do watch a fair bit or spend a week watching one video. Keep it up.
Good progress mate gota say you never cease to impress have to say though it woulda bugged me seeing that corner section had been attacked by the rust I would have ended up cutting it out and putting in a newly made piece .... this is why everything 'I do, takes twice as long if I come across something that isn't as good as it once was I've just gotta fix it ...... it can sometimes be a drag being a perfectionist, lol
I've been restoring a candy gold FS1E "for five years" I restore vintage Jap bikes this one's a keeper it only usually takes me between six and eight months to bring something back from the dead a year tops depending on what it is and how bad it is when I first get it but if it ain't right it's gettin done and if I'm not happy with a part it's gettin replaced 'or fixed 'to the best of my abilities' coz otherwise I don't sleep at nights ... OCD working overtime.
the main reason I kept it was that i had made reference holes, however i thought exact same as you on this, overall it JUST made the grade for me but was close. its one of those times I think, I aint perfect and in the larger picture of timescales and keeping orginal parts it slipped thru, i dont think it will present any problem, but yes i knwo what you mean as you know its there, i think that with the edges repaired, its only question of pin holes, and the patch to rear was braze filled, i dont always film everything or you end up with 3 gours films and people complain, the piece was soild enought, but i DO know what you mean
totally get what you say and the bikes sound great, i grew up on RD50s fizz and 50 and 70 plops
Great work Pete. I hope this will be finished by the time of Cortina Mark Three At Fifty.
good call, well i will see, i need to make sure i dont burn myself out thosugh Dave
@@PeteCswampy You seem to be making good progress, I thought that bulkhead was solid. Still getting in shape.
Well done mate the floor looks awesome compared to your starting point.
Hesketh Dave
thanks Dave gotta get up to see you
@@PeteCswampy be good to see you and have a brew anytime
Lovin your work Pete, as mentioned here you are making these cars better than they were when they left the factory, floor pan and bulkhead look better than new so what more can you say.... maybe perfection at work!! Oh, liked the intro with the steering wheel LOL!!
Looks like the idiots are still here with the thumbs down, stupid #####!!
John (Norfolk)
nice work
good luck for the nec pete
Great work Pete, amazing progress you're making. Will you be doing similar to Ruby before the car goes to the bodyshop, snagging and looking for any imperfections? Keep the fantastic videos coming, we all appreciate the effort you put in.
hi Pete, yes ill go thru the shell and sort anyhting, bramble gets the A4LD gearbox so ill need to fabricate the mount points
Pete C. You must bring Ruby or Swampy to Wollaton Hall near Nottingham in June at their classic car show. You would win 1st price for sure. I love to chat to you if you attended.
i can do that, justt remind me near the time and ill go
@@PeteCswampy Shoot ive realized im away that weekend. Maybe going to Heaton Park in september. Sounds like it's near where you are.
Another stellar job and video! I've been wondering what you are going to do regarding the rearview mirrors? Wing mount as they were or door mounted? btw- I love in Spinal Tap when he's stuck inside the pod onstage
Sensational.
Was good to see bramble in the flesh (or should that be metal!) today. Pity I didn’t get to have a chat.
Wasn't expecting that. See you Friday
ok !!!!!!!! see you then!!!

Great video as usal ,Do you add more sound deadening?? like dynamat?? Did you have a Cortina in classic ford magazine...
yes some dynamat is going in. No luck with ANY mags. Ive written to every single one. not a single reply. NOTHING.

BUD, thanks!!!! the hoist lives again. Did the castors seize? yes ebay or screwfix have castors bud
Hubnut sent me
