the double kicks did it for me. TSTM was bordering on metalcore, they could have implemented some of it without alienating their fanbase but they wanted to suck dick and get into hollywood. So we got what we got.

People often do covers of songs without doing vocal types. Especially harder songs that require it.
Like Oh darling by the Beatles has a clean verse and a harsh chorus. If you look up covers, you'll get like 95% of vocalists covering it doing one monotonous vocal type without doing the harsh vocals in the chorus.
But with Lauren you can tell she really likes to focus on vocals and the meaning for doing different types. So when a song goes pretty hard, she goes hard, when it's soft, she's got a mellow clean singing voice and I love that.

This is not an easy song for a normal person to cover; the passion in it is very intense. I'm happy to see a professional cover showcasing a female vocalist of the song. Hitting the extremes in the range also is not easy.
She's not hitting them in perfect pitch or cleanly. So yeah. Also she's straining a lot and the track is EXTREMELY edited

What I love about her is she really expresses emotions when she sings and they go so well together.
I think this is partly because she's not trying to look "pretty" on the camera. When people try to, they lose this expressiveness in their face

Solid musicianship, powerful voice. This is undoubtedly one of the best covers of this song. My only mild criticism is that the vocal distortions in the chorus tend to cover everything else up though that's more of a mixing issue rather than a comment on talent or skill.
