Thank you
Hi
This car came to me with the complaint that did have no power, and that the power would come back when the DSC light started flashing... well, as I find out, was not exactly like that...
Follow me on this video to find out what was causing this issue, and what was needed to repair it.
Hope you enjoy the video.
Any comments or questions, please put them below.
Like always, thank you for watching!
Nice video.i had exactly the same issue rust build up around the reluctor ring caused it to distort and rub the abs sensor.very common.thanks again for another great video.
gunti80
Thank you! Unfortunately I only found that this was a common issue afterwards... could have saved me some time...
Yeap done hundreds of them.
How much did it cost to fix the problem my car doing the same now
How to fix:
It is likely that during heavy rain the PDC (parking distance control) module is flooded with water which is causing short circuit and faulty reading displays. The PDC is located in the boot compartment just below the driver side right corner of the tail lights. Please check this to ensure PDC is not flooded with water. You can try drying the PDC and reinstall it or replace it and have it reprogrammed to your car. If this info helped you, please like this comment as I just saved you lot of money. Your welcome!
From DPF through misfiring and in the end the speed sensor wow... Very nice video which I have missed to watch in the past. Greetings!
😊
Thanks!

Thank you for watching...
Believe me or not i just have this problem ,that came up today on a bmw 320D E 90 ,but if i push the Dtc button on ,car runs just fine with out replacing anything .
Great video btw, thanks , keep up the great work .
Possibly because ignores the false readings from the sensor, and the DTC is disabled...😉
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
prada mario - very dangerous to bud - do u no your abs brakes will be disabled too, - get it fixed before u rear end someone or maybe u will be driving down the road and your wheel will pass u bye...
@@LMAutoRepairs what the cost for the same job on your video mate?
@@ntalionsametai6383
Not a lot...
Unless you replace the entire drive shaft... in that case will cost a bit more...
👍👍👍
Amazing video! I had the same issue. I found a quick fix for this problem. Now my DSC works as it should. However one day I'll have to change that ABS ring...

Lots of good information in your chanel. Keep the good work!
What was the quick fix ?
Great methodology of fault finding, I always carry my little Chinese DSO, It's great for checking low frequency inductive pickups.
Big Thumbs Up...
Thank you Mike!
So basically it thinks the wheel that is causing the problem isn't turning because it isn't reading correctly so activates the traction control system
Correct...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Wheel speed sensor and drive shafts. Had exactly these symptoms, £1700 fix at Stratstone BMW.
That was expensive... 😥
Thank you for watching!
Yep very expensive. My car has been amazingly reliable. I have driven 173,000 miles in her, she cost me brake discs, pads, oil, filters, tyres, up until two weeks ago. Since this original post I’ve also had to buy a DPF and 2 tyres. Spent best part of £2,5k. That’s the gamble, when do you part company with a car that has served you well and that you love to drive?

hello i would like some help because my abs esp lights are on when i start the car and drive i replaced the abs sensor yesterday but it did nothing but the diagnosis says it is an abs sensor it could be because of a wheel bearing that is not good because I don't have an abs ring I have a 2010 bmw x6 e71 please help
Hi
Not sure what is on that specific car, it might be a magnetic reluctor, if it has failed that could be the cause... that said, check wires from the sensor to the module...
Is the sensor genuine or aftermarket?
Do you have any live readings from that sensor at all?
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs yes the sensor is real when she replaced the sensor the error messages went away but then the wheel went back on and they were back and my car has a wheel bearing that is magnetic no reculator
@@LMAutoRepairs I think the wheel bearing is faulty
@@LMAutoRepairs diagnosis says left sensor but I replaced it the man says it may be that the sensor cannot recognize the wheel bearing What do you think thank you
Hi
Again, either the sensor, wires, module or reluctor ring...
Live data and some tests should help you establish what the issue is...
My Z4 E89 abs lights all come up after several minutes driving. I connected a reader on graph mode and can see a odd spike, inverted triangle appear randomly on the rear left sensor. It doesn't appear as a fault code on that wheel. Hoping replacing sensor will cure problem.
🤞

I have this exact problem, can I get just the ring from BMW? And what do we call that ring again?
Also thank you for this very detailed informative video. 👍🙌
Reluctor ring...
Not sure if BMW sells that separately...
👍👍👍
@LM Auto Repairs I just checked online and they don't. They want the whole driveshaft which is too much. Trying to source that reluctor ring now. Thanks, Mate.
👍
Same problem. Was my alternator shorting.
Can you explain please
Thank you that is good i learn sam things today

I'm having the same problem with my 3 series E92. Changed ABS sensor twice. Once by BMW during the vehicle recall. But it still did not fixed. I see now why. Is there any chance you will fix my car. I live in North London, so can travel to Peterborough if necessary. Please advise.
Hi
I am quite busy at the moment...
Don't you want to try to have a go yourself?
As you can see, is not that complicated...
Lol
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
hello mate i have the same problem how much to fix this problem if i take to a gatrage also do i have to use genuine bmw abs sensor?? many thanks
You don't have to buy genuine... but I would consider... aftermarket can give you problems...
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs any recommendations pls love ur videos by the way very clear about things
Thank you.
👍👍👍
Great video buddy was the fault with the dpf sensor part of the trouble with the abs ring too
Paul Mayou
Hi
No... not at all...
Was only the ABS that was causing it all...
strange that with dpf its good to know
Paul Mayou
I have informed the owner... but he did not wanted to spend any more...
Will do when blocks up....
You could switch the sensors between the two wheels, to know if the sensor is broken or no
Soufian Attar
That would be another way... but in this case I would have damaged the good sensor from the other side...
lmsvvavr Right
What about tempreture -40c
Nothing to do with this particular problem...
Do more BMW 1 series pls
👍
That's helpful, thank you
Thanks!
same happened to me the light is on and car gained power .
Hope you get it sorted...

You need to remove the drive shaft... so... kinda yes...

The engine is not 1.8 the model is 118 but engine is actually 2.0l BMW n47 engine
Tomas Žaleniakas
Hi
I have not even open the bonnet...
Either way that would make a difference to the this problem...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Tomas Žaleniakas Oh, right, an N47 engine... They are known for common timing chain and turbo failures, for the first problem you need to partially remove the engine from the car. Poor BMW engineering! I also see that the car in the video was a bit neglected, I'm right?
Tommaso Bocci
The car is was running fine...
I know that they have a flaw with the timing chain...
The car was not bad to be honest...
lmsvvavr oh, ok, I was thinking that because I saw the blown lamp alarm on the dash, the amount of rust under the body and plus 200.000 kms, but I was wrong :)
But the video was very helpful, as always, keep in working! 💪💪
(And Sorry for my english mistakes, I'm italian!)

No worries... thank you for watching!
Another great video but I could see your mailing address on the package from postman, be careful as I bet you have alot of expensive tools at home.

Thanks for the tip...
I had this light come up when driving on the motorway but after about 3 hours at about 70mph everytime I accelerate in a straight line, i done a diagnostic after journey but nothing come up maybe need to diagnose when light is flashing? Any idea what issue could be?

so the new sensor was too long. now cost him a new sensor and a ring.
Not really... the sensor was the correct one... the problem was the swell ring... which damaged the sensor as soon as was put in...
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
How much does the sensor and the ring cost
Akmol Miah
Hi
I can't remember exactly... but was not that expensive... less than £50 if I am not wrong...
LM Auto Repairs but how much do you it will cost at a garage to fix
Akmol Miah
That I don't know...
it's the fault of the other mechanic because he replace the sensor and he don't replace the ring
Thanks for video, I done a similar DSC fault with a Jag ruclips.net/video/gOOKzUoC00U/видео.html which cured it, also the BMW will not do proper regen until all glow plugs are working cheers sandy
really shit design by bmw
