Another great informative video. Thanks clutch. This lake has been on my list for a while. Banana boards 🤭

Glad it's of help! And thank you for the feedback again.
Banana boards? They shall not be named but as you'd guess, very cheap and obscure brands. So obscure I had to google them! At least they were having fun and had the sense to wear leashes on their one way trip down the lake ;).

Great Video's.. very informative, Thanks Clutch.... We've just bought a Sandbanks Style Explorer double Kayak, we are new to this, so these videos have been a great help. We're in the West Midlands..

Hi, I have watched all your vids and they are very informative so thanks. I have a cheeky unrelated question . I am thinking of camping on shell island near Barmouth. Do you know if it’s POSs to launch from anywhere there. Although have been on rivers loads of times I have only been in sea once at treadhurr bay in Anglesey so looking for somewhere fairly sheltered.

Yes you can launch from there all along the beach though make sure any wind is blowing onto the beach and not away from it. I wouldn’t advise going into the estuary there tho as it can be very shallow in places even with the tide in. And the flow in/out of the estuary entrance when the tides are changing is VERY strong.
Other than the beach there you could go down into the estuary at Barmouth, just make sure you paddle as the high tide approaches giving you plenty of time before the tide goes out again. The estuary there is very shallow for the most part until you get a mile or two up and no more than a 3 feet deep with a sandy bottom. Easiest parking (and free) is on the other side at fairbourne, what3words address is noted on my Barmouth pub run video.
