Planica 2005 especially that last day was probably the best ski jumping weekend ever. Conditions were perfect and distances were just amazing from 10,12 jumpers..
2005 Planica was the greatest event ever in ski jumping imo. Remember watching it live on TV when I was 10. Seeing two of my countrymen (norway) take world records in the same event was insane. In addition, there was a rivalry atmosphere with the Fins being so good. I was also an Ahonen fan, so I couldn't help being nervous about the result either way, and the dramatic fall made the event that much more amazing. The previous record was Norwegian as well, and it was like a defending the title story. Since the falls weren't very damaging, the event was not spoiled either. Great storyline all around. It felt like anyone could come out as a formidable contender with the conditions being as they were.
What I think is much more impressive is the fact that the average distance was 210m (1st round) and 219 (2nd round). Sick! Almost everybody jumped over 200m.
They used Gate 9,5 (between 9 and 10) for final round (including this jump). Average distance in final round was 218.9m, what ist absolutely crazy. Best skijumping competition ever.
New hill & new hill record with +9,5m in perfect telemark. 2015 event was crazy with 163 jumps and average 209,5m !!! On friday some jumpers with jumps well beyond 200m mark didn't qualify into 2nd series. If that's not funny... Crazy just like the 2005 season. I just hope we won't have to wait 10 more years for another crazy Planica event :D
Klasse!
That was amazing. I have this recorded on VCR. The best ski jumping event ever. I hope someone will beat the record this year, but if that crybaby Schlierenzauer complains once again that the inrun is too long and judges obey him, we'll have a very lackluster event. In Vikersund individual judges obeyed him and he couldn't even jump 210 meters, if they obey him once again no one will jump 230 this year (including Gregor himself).
@95js95 Yes, they are. According to the world cup scedule, two competitions will be held there on February 12th and 13th. Some vital stats for the new Vikersund hill: Hill size- 225m. Kalculation point- 195m. Inrun lenght- 124m. Height difference of the inrun- 65,55m. Height difference from jump to bottom of the hill- 135m.
Also--> Schlierenzauer-Planica-2010
Vikersund HS225 is now compeated, and it is possible to stand on jumps close to 260 meters in that hill, so we in Norway hope to make history with the first jump over 250 meter this winter. The hill is also made so that it will be cheap and easy to enlagre the hill in the future, and plans for enlagment to HS 240 is ready five years from now.
That jump was somewhere around 700 feet! I will watch skiing now and then but I had no one idea how far they were jumping. 2 American football fields including the endzones. 239m is about how far I can drive a golf ball. WOW
@95js95 Precisely! By the way, sat and watched the inauguration of the new Vikersund today. The test jumpers for this weekends WC event did a run-through, and two of them reached 218 and 219 meters without any headwind at all at the bottom of the hill. Now, if we get a good headwind all the way down the hill this weekend, we'll see some serious(!) flying (provided the jury are willing to let it happen, of course...). This hill is bloody HUGE. I can't wait! :-)
what are you talking?? he fell at 210m because he made a mistake! he complained then when he fell at (i think) 224m because nobody could stay this width! and this year there will be a new worldrecord because the hill is a little enlarged now.
@Yashimo7777 Its all about the wind blowing up in the hill. If its alot of wind blowing up the hill, u wont need so much speed, but if it blows the other way u need more speed
@juraldinho123 yeah but this year vikersund is bigger. And if i have understand it correct, Vikersund as as large as an hill could be. If they wanna build planica larger then fis havto change rules that say how big the hills could be. But i think is good that more hills are starting to get bigger, then we well se longer and longer jumps in the future
Bjoern Einar Romoeren is one of the best ski flyers ever and he made 2 World Records on the same weekend. FACT! Matti Hautamaeki is better then Romoren. He made 3 WR in 2003 in same weekend :D
@janb93 I'm not angry at Vikersund.. I just like natural hills better. Actually Vikersund is fine, but hills like oberstdorf.. It just doesn't seem right. About the new Planica.. I think it should be as big as Vikersund. So that WR would be possible on more than just one hill. I hope that Vikersund will do that (match the new Planica size), when/if it gets even bigger in the future.
@janb93 I didn't post any bullshit about Vikersund stealing WR from Planica.. Planica is being renovated right now, they are going to deepen it so it will be possible to fly past 270m(FIS approved plans) - it can be safely extended even further - at least that Mr. Gorisek said(he and his son also made plans for Vikersund).
No i przez Schlierenzauera spierdolili całą Planicę. Dno!
Finally!!! search for Andre Keissewetter (GER), WR distance jump long 196m, but written down as 192m to prevent wide hunting of world records. He touched the snow with hands. Keissewetter - 196m - Planica 1991 /watch?v=QprM_CYhoiw
How can you tell? He didn't even try to land! He deliberately fell to demonstrate that the inrun was to high, but if he tried to land, he might have stood that. Who knows? And his complaint lead to very low inruns in the individual competition. Today's trainings and qualification showed that after that event the jury is affraid to set the high inrun gate and the competition suffered - no one jumped more than 215, when you theoretically can jump 245. I hope they won't spoil it tomorrow.
Schlieri w dzisiejszej formie skoczylby (gdyby bylo mozna) z 250m z takim wiatrem i 104km/h
Vikersund will never have the same feeling as this
the 2005 event in planica was insane.
Planica 2005 especially that last day was probably the best ski jumping weekend ever. Conditions were perfect and distances were just amazing from 10,12 jumpers..
They jumped too high speeds. Ahonen’s jump would’ve been 250meters easily, he just had to take it down for his own safety.

They jumped too high speeds. Not good, Ahonen jumped way too far.
DER BESTE KOMMENTAR DER BEIDEN FOREVER. WIR WERDEN EUCH VERMISSEN DANKE FÜR ALL DIE JAHRE!!!!
Szaranowicz was besser :)

Of course if they jump that crazy speeds everybody will fly longer. But it’s too dangerous for the best jumpers and Ahonen paid for it.
New hill & new hill record with +9,5m in perfect telemark.

Sssaga Benches they rebuild it
Lol in 2017 you didn't qualify with 210 meters.
@@cedur2163 in 2018 with fucking 230 m
totally different hill now.
This event was entertaining yes, but too dangerous for peak Ahonen. His jump would’ve been 250meters easily but he had to force it down earlier.
Eines der besten Springen aller Zeiten.
Kommentatoren aus Leib und Seele^^
Romoren is my second favorite Ski Jumper =] i love Norway and I would like to visit this country. greetings from Poland
@janb93
Yes it can be. Planica is completely operated on voluntary work, same thing with biathlon, ski competitions etc..

REKOOORD! REKORD ŚWIATA!!! FANTASTYCZNIE!!!!!!!!!
Planica 2005 war schon ein ganz größes Kino!
Golden era of ski jumping
The best time ever !!!

The worldrecord must comme back to Planica!

Bjoern's dance = I died xDD

1:12 - 1:18 : Best camera angle ever!
@kimifan987 wie lautet die regel?
It is stupid to discuss which hill is better. I like both hill and they have both their very individual character.
@allezpetrova

Its all about the wind blowing up in the hill. If its alot of wind blowing up the hill, u wont need so much speed, but if it blows the other way u need more speed
janne Ahonen of Finland jumped more but he fell
I wonder, is he related to Jan Erik Romøren?
thanks!
od 0:30 do 0:40 słychać w tle Łooooooooooo Kurwaaaaaaaaaa

2: so ca. 140 km/h

Average wind in the final round 2005: 1.3 m/s
In todays qualification average wind was 0.59 m/s

Fabuleux ce saut
@Yashimo7777 But at 2003 it was 5m good wind here only 2 Meters!^^
absolutely :)
planica for the first 250m jump
zagor1974 Now Kraft jumped 2 times over 250 in Planica and Stoch flew 251,5
@janb93

awesome jump :) but legend is one ADAM MAŁYSZ !!
