Threads are really nicely machined on hubs typically so it is really no big deal and if you noticed the power drill torque was set really low. I do this all the time on my rotors with no issues.
Those particular bolt holes are pretty much self centering those bolts due to their particular machining and thread pitch. Plus, after years and years and years of wrenching, you just know. That's my case.
at 28:59 thanks for including this 'gaff' as things don't always go right the first time, nice to see how its dealt with, with some determination and persistence.
This is seriously beautiful!! As a mechanic by trade, i applaud you! I loved this video, im just recently getting back in to bike since i was a kid. I worked on all my families and friends bikes, this video brings me much joy. Thank you
Oh my gosh, what a wonderful vid! I want this guy as my personal mechanic forever! The attention to detail was incredible! Amazingly satisfying to watch and also an incredible build!
This is hilarious, hear me out. Back when you built up an Enduro I had already traded in my 2019 SJ and transferred all the shiny bits to a brand new Enduro frame! Then, after moving to Colorado I found that the Enduro needed a slightly poppier younger brother. I'll give you 3 guesses on what I purchased back in March 2021!
In particular, I would like the same care when assembling my wheels. They often neglect this in workshops out there... Congratulations on the good service provided, it's nice to see!
Awesome! I'd love to see talent like this, showing kids how to do this, to inspire them to become their own bike mechanic! Remember, there is an i in kind! Be Kind!
In 90% of casses that bike comes with pike or fox 34 and inline rear shock. Now he pump-up the volume to the max and put 36 up-front and that big ass rear shock. Its now short travel enduro bike 😎🤙
i like the way u assemble the entire bike what really likes to me while im watching is really organized ,every single detail is so net and clean your surrounding your tools ,am so impress the way u do ryan ,really fun to watch
The fact that you verify the BB socket so throughly is something you do not see every day (5:20). The trough axis verification from both sides and ensuring the bed flatness on each side is something most bike builders (that I've seen!) don't do! People need to verify what they've bought and this is awesome to see! (And after a while they complain about creaking when pedaling, or that their BB is destroyed in avery short amount of time!) Anyway, when you state "Good Job!" on the bike's constrution BB is something you don't see everyday! You got yourself a subscriber!
That looks so amazing, every seasonal service i'm trying to do something like this, but i have 2008 gt chucker 1.0 and want to ride full suspension bike with 160 mm of travel. Every day of hardworking in road engineering is motivated by that dream. Maybe later i would have an opportunity to do this thing with my future full suspension bike.
a great video, PS: it should also have ASMR in the title, as the way you hold and organise the tools on the bench, and the sounds of the tape from the 'body work' exquisite, great job.
Palmer is the best! I would love to hear him discussing custom build choices for these "Dream Builds". That Super Boost wheel looks so much more centered and better than the offset 148 wheels!
Finally, I'm not the only one that uses pipe cutter instead of hack saw. I could never understand how using such violent tool to hack on my delicate instrument i call "My Bike"
at 25:00 thanks for that, not many 'build videos' show wheel building, from scratch, they just have a "here's one I've prepared earlier" stunts, which is so disappointing.
Axs components should come with plugs to put into the open internal routing holes on the frame to keep dirt and water out. That would be impossible to clean
Next up - this bike featured in one of many MTB Fails videos, being wrapped around the tree, tossed into bushes, or snapped in 2 after failed high altitude drop attempt.
As a fellow bike mechanic you just know when someone enjoys what they’re building, a pleasure to watch, kudos.

seemed so excessive to me.

Awesome to see Palmer back in the Barn doin' his thang!
Great build! This guy is so confident to start threads with a power tool
Was thinking the same. By the time you notice you cross threaded it's probably too late.
Threads are really nicely machined on hubs typically so it is really no big deal and if you noticed the power drill torque was set really low. I do this all the time on my rotors with no issues.

Absolute poetry in motion! Love seeing a master work their trade no matter what it is.
This just so happens to be something I love.
if only the mechanics at my local bikeshop is as gentle as this man. the way he holds every parts as if he's holding a God Tier item👍🔥

Thanks for the video, nostalgic for the old days when I also took care of my bike. That's what it means when a person loves his job.👍
The title of this video should be "A Feller Makes a Pedal Bike" because of that Vice Grip Garage hoodie. A guy really enjoyed this video!

This is a talent pls put more videos like this on your platform. Amazing just amazing
thats one awesome frame in itself , but with all those components you put on it , you killed it 👌👌👌
The most beautiful Evil build! I could watch this on repeat
This is expertise. Effortlessly doing it right and producing a a quality outcome. I can hardly inflate my tyres.
Oh my gosh, what a wonderful vid!

A true masterpiece created by a master at his trade. You balanced the rims so well man! Best minutes I’ve spent here in a long time!

Watched from beginning to end!! Wow!! An artist!
These videos are so good and as usual, Ryan knocks it out of the park.
adding motor oil to the rear hub to quiet the pawls is a nice little trick. makes a surprising difference.
I see so many bike build videos with techs showing their bad habits, this one was complete and utter perfection.
cant believe a bottom bracket still goes in FT.. amazing build video,, its poetry!
Nice work Palmer. Stunning. Tight. Restrained. 🙌

Something really therapeutic about watching a master at work! What an artform 👌🏻 took me 3 days to build my new Nukeproof Giga in March 😂
That's the real build with all the top notches
i could dream to have this bike, very well done on this amazing work of art
Awesome build man! The Evil Following is my dream bike. BTW, I like the Vice Grip Garage beanie you are wearing!

Was sitting there thinking how does man know what spoke goes into what hole. Then it hit me. Man wears sandals with socks. What a epic build

Far better than a Asmr video, I'd love a chance to ride that bike
Absolutely beautiful , a wireless derailleur and transmission group set that probably cost more than my entire bike .:)
I had to cringe as he goes in with a red hot poker into those Santa Cruz reserve rims. Brave man!
Nice job! Nice Bike! Keep up the great work!
Between the music and camera angles I was waiting for a british guy to start talking about a new species discovered in a work shop.

Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
I use one as well, so much better than a hack saw.
But he clamps it into a hacksaw guide first to throw you off 🤔
I've been told that pipe cutters ovalize the steer tube. But I've done it either way and haven't noticed a difference, really.

Axs components should come with plugs to put into the open internal routing holes on the frame to keep dirt and water out. That would be impossible to clean
They’re specific for every frame??
Yah I agree. But I feel like the brand of the frame would have to make the plugs bc not all the holes are the same for each bike.
@@Laquoquious Not sure about other brands...but my SC came with plugs for the holes 👍

I think that is a problem with the thead for the hub. It's seams that isn't lined up. Watch when he is attaching the hub into the frame (7:27 minute).
