My dad played lead guitar with Mr. Cambell and Mr. Webb. I love playing this song for the memories and the beautiful chord structure. Great job and beautiful voice there Larry.
After all these years, you're still the best at Glen, and this is the best version of Wichita Lineman ever. You are missed greatly. In 100 years, people will still be loving this. Isn't that as close as any of will ever get to immortality?
Great solo version of a great song, loved your arrangement, you have a great talent I'll try and learn it myself. Thank you for the inspiration. I watched GC perform the song in Sheffield, England a few weeks ago, truly fantastic evening. Lucky enough to meet him afterwards, very nice guy, long may he continue. Incidently, his musical director looks very much like you, also an incredible musician
Started playing 30 years ago in grad school and haven’t played in the last 12 years due to kids, soccer, ballet, etc. Recently saw your Play Me video and this, I can not put the guitar down. You are fantastic!
I could listen to this everyday (several times a day) (and I often DO). You are blessed with talent and we are blessed that you are able to share that with us here.
Hey! Larry, Thx ! for posting this and your lesson videos,, I learned a great deal from them. You play with great feeling and emotion,, thats what makes an appealing and touching song for me,,, chord progressions and medleys,,, I am going to see Glenn at the RYMAN in Jan. should be great,, this song is my fav ! check out Keith Urbabs renditions,, he surely shows his admiration for Glenn covering some of his tunes in concerts,, Peace,Chuck
You my fellow musician do this beautiful solemn song true justice. You embody the experience I know so well as I have worked the line and sometimes felt the silent solemn loneliness when you can hear the resonance and feel one with the the line. Thank you for letting me feel it once more.
I love this song bring tears to my eyes bring back so many memories as a little girl beautiful job you play beautiful I can listen to you your voice amazing so amazing
Fantastic cover of one of the best songs ever written. "And I need you more than want you. And I want you for all time..." Best lyrical line ever IMHO.
Thank you Larry, I’ve been a front of house sound engineer for many years, and have worked with some amazing talent. This performance moved me. You’re a monster!
Thank you I really enjoyed that. I should have guitar like that, play like that and sing like that. I stopped playing years ago and since I've picked up again there's RUclips and it seems like every musician in the world is sharing everything. I've bought a new Fender acoustic cheapie about 100 quid in England and the old Fender, which I think was made by Fujigen about 1972 according to another RUclipsr I keep for messing about in open turnings. Back in the day you had to know someone who had an ear for picking things up on the record but with RUclips I can watch guys like you play and share. Sort of like musical AA for the world. All I'll say is it's better to sing the blues than take mind altering drugs and your video made me smile. Human not superstar and with a microwave oven in the background (I play in the kitchen too). Thanks again.
PS Quality hasn't improved recently but guitars have never been cheaper, in 45 years of playing! Watch out if you're buying older instruments, they tend to be better but try before you buy or get a 'money back' deal.
The algorithims have brought you back to me, Larry. As always, your covers are just a pure joy. It's taken me a couple of your videos today to finally come to terms of my deep sadness. I will miss you but I will never forget you. God willing, may your beautiful covers continue to reach and touch many more on YTube. God bless you Larry. I know you're still singing and playing that guitar in heaven.
I just heard this for the first time and had no idea that Larry was no long with us. I’ll be using his version to teach me the song…, but I won’t be able to do a version as great as this one….
@@nicholasrichardson2330 Larry has THE BEST TUTORIAL EVER!! Go to his page and check it out! It got me playing again after years of boredom. He was The Best.
We were brought to you by Dion. Had a great night with your covers. My partner, who tells me when I hit a clinker, says you have perfect pitch! Beautiful! Thanks!
Two years ago I never sang a note in my life and never heard this song until an algorithm pulled you up larry and I wanted to be just like that now I have my own channel and my own influences and versions but I think your version of witchita lineman is the best, youve been a huge influence on me just thought I’d let you know
I'm a professional musician...a jazz guitarist and I am visiting my brother in Miami who has just introduced me to this musician that in my regard is an out-of- this-world entertainer...the reason why l became an instrumentalist is that I can't be as versatile as he is...a much valuable musician for a good band...hats off for you Mr Larry L...Mariano Vico, guitarist and English teacher from Havana Cuba.
That was great. It takes courage and confidence to approach this 'widescreen' track with just an acoustic guitar and your vocals. You did a fine job - your playing and your vocals were spot-on. Thanks for the video.
Hey Larry, just Awesome dude.A beautiful verson of a classic song, your voice seems effortless and smooth as.I,ll be checking out your other covers. well done
@sbbinahee I love listening to criticism. Thanks for your input. I'll watch some more of your videos to learn a thing or 2.. Although, real musicians don't criticize other musicians publicly for their performances. It is bush league to do that in my view.
Well done. I have never heard of you until I decided to learn this song. Now I'm going to be following you!! Great to see that after Mr Campbells death people like you will keep his legacy alive. As a kid we use to drive a 1963 Impala Convertible SS following my Moms boyfriend who was a lineman. This song hits my heart hard!!! Again well done. Today is a sad day losing this amazing artist!!!
Awesome! So beautiful. And you're very handsome. I hope you know that. And I can tell that you totally get the "I need you more than want you" line. It's written in your face when you sing that phrase.
So, so nice. I love the interesting chord changes and the smooth vocals with the sustained notes & vibrato. Great job. Think I'll learn to play it just like this. Instead of the kitchen, I do most of my practicing in a walk-in shower, btw. :)
nice cover.... Glen used a fender 6 (baritone guitar) on this. i rebuilt one last yr for a friend....youtube the vid of Glen and enjoy....i always wondered how he got that awesome tone on the lead. (i actually played one of those guits wayyy back)
Excellent cover Larry , love that Adamas also , I have an ovation celebrity deluxe 6 string that is blue with the multiple sound holes ,but have always in my heart wanted the Adams most. Thanks for your attention to exact details in your execution of the chords to all the songs you cover ,your playing is top notch.
. . . Never give up on owning your own ADAMAS ‘ghaus’. I had an ADAMAS II in the mid-to-late ‘80s after a couple of Ovations. Had to sell her on at a difficult time. Finally bought my first ADAMAS I, bought ‘as new’ although previously owned by someone who hardly ever took it out of it’s case - by the look of it. ‘Reverse Blue Burst’ with a cutaway; it’s sound, tone and timbre is unmatched - especially plugged in. Decades ahead of it’s time when first released in 1976. Still is .
I keep coming back to this song, like it's haunting me or something. When I first listened to it yesterday, I knew it was special. I had to go listen to the original to see if it was just the song and the lyric. I ended up listening to all the versions on you tube, including James Taylor's Grammy nominated version and Larry, my humble opinion is, that yours is, hands down, the most incredible, heart felt, beautiful version there is. End of story.
Hi from ireland, beautiful cover love this song since i was a kid in the backseat of my old mans Volvo listening to this. One of my favourite memories. Thank you for reminding me of that.
Loooove this song buddy !!!. I`m a Glen Cambell fan and this song is one of my favorite. I like the way you play it on the guitar. All the notes sounds just right. And I have to ask what kind of guitar that is? Keep up the nice work !!
Larry, Great job.....your Adamas sounds great, what year? I had one a few years ago. Have you heard Restless Heart's new rendition of Wichita Lineman? It's a great tribute to Glen on a timeless classic. Art
That was fantastic Sir. I loved the way you played it with all the parts in there that make the song special. Then came your voice, so beautifully sung.. The part "..and i need you more than want you" where you sing higher brings tears to my eyes. Memories of my Dad. Truly a great video sir.
Just beautiful!
My dad played lead guitar with Mr. Cambell and Mr. Webb. I love playing this song for the memories and the beautiful chord structure. Great job and beautiful voice there Larry.

Gave me chills, it was so good - thank you for posting! I like how you slowed it down just a tad for the full effect.

Beautiful voice and I love the arpeggio such as 1:13. As to the 10 thumbs down, when Christ walked on the water somebody probably found fault with it.
How many Ovations do you own? It seems like every song has a different one.
