A pen show was something I never knew I wanted to go to, now it's definitely on my bucket list, and I'm comforted by seeing your preparation process

I'm also signed up for Sunny's nib maintenance and tuning class but in the afternoon for the very reason you mentioned - trying to take the best advantage of the all-access pass before the crowds descend. Hoping to see you and will definitely say hello if I do. Very excited!
Yeah I wish I had thought of that now. Oh well. I still have Saturday morning and Sunday morning too. Have fun at the class!

I would love to see your thoughts on the different nib grinds after the show! I'm interested in some specialty grinds, but it's all a bit overwhelming. And more importantly, have so much fun at the show!
Yes! I hope to properly document the grinds and how I feel about them. What I did last year with no info was not helpful to me now!
This weekend will be my first pen show EVER and I did a lot of the same prep you did here, which gives me hope for myself! LOL! I was reading about whether or not to have cash. I have a small budget since I'm mostly there for the experience.. would you recommend just bringing my entire budget via cash even for vendors who also take card? Was unsure if the credit card vendors would accept my cash.. LOL

Glad this was helpful! Every person is different. If you want to keep to a budget, bring cash. Most vendors accept both.

I went to my first show at the Yoseka Stationery Fest and now I can't wait to attend another show! Unfortunately, I can't go to SF this year, but I'm hoping to attend next year.

I wish I had a posse! I went alone and it was pretty lonely.
That's tough. I was lucky I had a friend I went with last year for the first time, so we always had each other to hang out with. And we stepped outside our comfort zones and just started talking to people. So many people there are so kind and welcoming and happy to talk!

Karyna, I’m so glad you shared about pen show etiquette. When I first started out with fountain pens, I went to a stationery shop that sold fountain pens and when I asked to test one, I didn’t realize the pen wasn’t post-able (not sure if I’m using the correct term)! The man at the counter immediately said, “oh Ms., please do not post that pen, it will scratch the body of the pen.”
This was a lesson learned as I had no idea and just thought all pens that have caps need to be posted. 😂
Yes postable is the term! And better to ask as pen vendors and makers are happy to answer!
I hope there is another pen show in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Going to San Francisco didn’t appeal to me.
San Francisco is a huge show and can be overwhelming. A smaller show like LA or even Portland may be more appealing!
