We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ruclips.net/user/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
Great review, I've just bought one of these at silly cheap price because the Studio 5 has come out. For me Harman/Kardon are the leaders in this kind of thing. I haven't heard anything that touches them for natural and totally absorbing sound. You listen to the music and forget it's coming from a speaker.
Not sure if Josh mentioned, but you can leave it plugged into its power adapter continually if you want to use it as your TV's sound. Way better looking, and less expensive, than a comparable sound bar.
Nicely done! I've ordered two of these speakers for my office. I too give a lot of preference to design.
I first heard this speaker at a Sprint Store and knew eventually I'd buy it. As expected after shopping around I could not find another manufacturer that offered a great looking and sounding speaker.
Your video looks and sounds great. Nice lighting, appealing decor, and just the right amount of subtle humor, intelligently presented without distracting and nauseating edits and cut-aways.

i own one but i fear that it isnt as reliable as tech used to be. the batteries die making the speaker unusable and the amp can die. insured mine so im fine

this sounds great because it has proper tweeters instead of a couple full range drivers
Just thought this Onyx Studio design can not give you that "WOW" feeling that you will have on some other Harman Kardon speaker. But the review is definitely worthy a "WOW". Awesome review.
Remember that in battery mode, it's only using 30W (7,5W x 4) and when it's plugged in to the wall it's 60W (15W x 4). In theory that means it's supposed to play loader when it's plugged in the wall.
I'm considering buying one so, can you tell a big difference?

I've tested it out again since ya'll commented and I hear the difference now! Still great audio either way, but deff a difference
I have 4 of them and it’s very noticeably louder when plugged in. When I have all 4 playing outside, it sounds like I have a serious stereo system connected to power with me

Bluetooth pairs super easy with the version 2 that I have so this must be at least as good. Sound quality is also very good, especially compared to typical bluetooth speakers from years ago. If you get that much battery life then it's improved on the V2 I have - which gets about 45mins at 70% volume. I haven't found a bluetooth speaker that is as good for sound quality, typically it's just a different league.
Buddy it's over 100 speakers not 10 and they can connect to another brand named JBL who has the same connect software. Also the back "sub" is a passive radiator and it moves from the air pressure within the speaker when bass kicks. Aside from that great video, very nice quality. Subbed and left a like :-)

nice review but i don't get why you would use a chromecast audio with it, isn't that redundant? i mean without the cca you can still easily stream from your device to the onyx speaker... i guess if you want to stream wifi audio from your network instead of bluetooth audio from your device, or want to stream lossless files to the speaker, a cca would make sense assuming the onyx can make the difference apparent.
I hope u can explain more about the sound quality like sound stage, sound compression, graph representation etc
I know this is an old video but I was looking to find out if the Onyx 4 has a way to disable the bass on it? I live in a rental and when itts loud the bass vibration travels to my neighbors walls. If you know how to turn or lower it I'd appreciate it. Thank you

Terrific review. Have you tried connecting the Onyx Studio 4 to your smart TV? I've heard conflicting reports regarding its suitability for TV use. Mainly I've heard that it's great for music but there are issues around transmission of movie sound effects like explosions, etc. Thoughts?

Can you please compare the 2,3 and 4??? I have the 2 and the bass is great. I listen to hip hop mostly. What’s your experience between the speakers?? Mind you. Mines always plugged in, as the speaker is louder that way.

Hi! Can you tell me how clear the paired devices? I have one and sometimes, the Onyx Studio stops playing music because it was interrupted by others devices that was paired previously. Thanks!

Они боятся постоянной зарядки. Я так потушил батарею на своем Onyx 4. сразу после гарантии. Прибор стоял на зарядке целыми днями, ионгда по 5 дней. Соответственно батарея повредилась. Нужно так: зарядил, и сразу отключил. Ну и до полного стараться на разряжать. Глупо звучит, и суперинженеры сделали так. Но колонка звучит СУПЕР.
They are afraid of constant charging. I put out the battery on my Onyx 4. right after the warranty. The device was charged all day long, for 5 days. Accordingly, the battery is damaged. It is necessary like this: I charged it, and immediately turned it off. Well, to the full try to discharge. Sounds silly, and the super engineers did it. But the column sounds SUPER.

Weird... my Onyx Studio 4 at 80% volumen lasts 2 to 2.5hrs... Could I be using it wrong?
This guy is just lying, because he is sponsored, probably. 80% volume and 2 hours is exactly what you can expect from the 3.7v 3000mAh battery.

change the battery is pretty easy look on youtube you can even buy bigger battery and make it last longer
My battery completely stopped working, i played it to loud with to much bass all the time so i drained it. I'd still buy the warranty tho.

Hello! The boombox is definitely bigger, louder, and meant to shake all outdoors! Whereby the Onyx 4, whilst also portable, is mainly an indoor oriented, powerful, great sounding speaker! So, outdoors, its the boombox! Indoors?, the Onyx 4! Cheers!

so i did Choose this Becuse its 60watt.
Im using this in my car. And 30w is to low for me
And thers a 1 cell 4.2 18650 Battery in it .

For 2 sub drivers and 2 bass radiators this thing has no bass
the two woofers and two tweeters. it has no subs
