Head Ref is a pusscake for not tossing Reese out of the game. There was nothing unintentional about that foul. Do your job!! The ref knew it was coming, saw it happen, reviewed it, and still got it wrong. Just plain weakness on his part.

File charges against the WNBA for knowingly and willfuly allowing this targeting. No other player is assaulted in this manner.
Really? Angel Reese herself was assaulted by a flagrant-2 from Alyssa Thomas just a couple weeks back. The foul in this clip is a flagrant-1.
If you recall the history of the "flagrant" label, it goes back to 80's NBA where it became common to take down a player like this with a hard foul if it was clear they were going to get an easy dunk or layup. The point of the foul was to make the person shoot twice instead of collecting 2 points easily. And of course, the foul has to be hard enough to make sure they down get the and-1. This situation became so bad that they invented the "flagrant" category in 1990, to add further penalty for going at it too hard. So I don't know how you conclude "no other player is assaulted in this manner" when a specific rule was created because MANY other players get assaulted in precisely this manner.
If you want to get upset about Caitlyn getting hacked, you can find much better examples than this one. The Chennedy Carter foul, for example, is highly unusual. The foul in this clip is not super unusual. It's pretty much classic flagrant-1 on the way to the hoop.

The buzz around the WNBA since CC joined is positive for the sport in terms of revenue. But the angry, hysterical tone of that buzz seems like just one more example of "outrage about everything." I do agree that some veterans are jealous of her, and she's been fouled because of it. And that reflects very poorly on them. But this particular foul doesn't seem like a good example of that. CC herself didn't seem upset by this particular one.

Joan here. That did look intentional disguised as going for the ball but really just way too far off from the ball. I can see if extreme fatigue were at play and everything gets thrown off but that is not the case here. And as she did the hit she made sure to complete it full force even though she knew it was a person and not the ball. that she had contacted. Once one knows it's not the ball, one's instinct is to halt and even pull back the swing. As a past competitive basketball player, my take is that this was intentional, unnecessary and excessive (the follow-through). A Flagrant 2 call I guess in the parlance of the day.
