Excellent info. Makes you wonder why they don't provide a decent guide when you buy the bike. Something to sit down and read before using it, rather than months later finding all this useful info online. Cheers Flow!
The only thing that bothers me is that the maximum cycling limit is 25 km, i.e. pedaling. This is ridiculous. It should have been increased to 35 km. 😊
Truth told I thought the same. Till I got one ( a lefty) Still haven't chipped it. I only miss the higher speed when on busy roads. Will chip to 35 at some stage.
One thing I would like to add, I believe you can modify the speed on the walk assist. I don’t know how to do it and being in mind to do so. It’s currently TOO SLOW!
Wow, that was soooooooo useful! Just got my first ebike. A Cube / Bosch and had no idea about all those features. One thing Bosch can't do is produce a good manual, it's truly awful. Mine only has the LED controller you show. Can I add a display? As good as the app is, mounting my phone in the UK weather is not really an option...
Glad you found it useful mate! Regarding a display, I understand it's a pretty straightforward add-on for your Cube e-Bike. Check in with your local Cube dealer and they'll be able to show you which display options you can purchase, and should be able to install it for you too. [Wil]
I am building up an e-bike from scratch, and wonder where can I learn how to connect everything and which small parts that I might be missing? I am planning to have it programmed for mullet setup when done at a Bosch dealer.
Use your gears and spread the wear, keep your drivetrain clean and lubed and don’t let your chain get past .75% wear before you replace it. There is no other solution.
This is one of my major annoyance with my Cube - the surprising amount to skipping under power in the higher gears. My bike is less than 6 months old and I've already replaced the chain once (first one snapped, but I've put that down to initial exuberance). It's now constantly in my mind what my cadence and gear choice are and despite my best efforts it's still happening. 😢
What I did is make a kind of "waypoints" (actually they are 50-meter routes made with the KOMOT application, once created the FLOW application automatically imports them to "my routes"). So if I'm in the middle of the mountain and I want to go home (pepe bar, fuente del pino or wherever). I open my routes and press the one I did in front of my house of 50 meters and I hold down, and it will automatically calculate the route to go to my house without doing anything. (BE CAREFUL... IT ONLY WORKS ON ANDROID, with the Iphone it doesn't let you click on the route).until version 1.15.10. view on : ruclips.net/video/ZrQeguG31v4/видео.html
Yes, it will. Some bikes are sold without the display (so you use your phone). The motor still has memory of your mileage and syncs up fine even after having ridden previously without.
Once again great guide! One question though. Currently I am considering to go with older non-smart Bosch CX gen4 (Scott e-Genius) which is cheaper vs new smart-system bike (Cube Stereo Hybrid 140), which is more expensive. If I go with the old one, I will replace the stock Purion display with Nyon. Have you ever tried this Nyon? How does old system with Nyon compare with Kiox300 on the smart system in terms of functionality? Thanks!
Ebike lock could leave you stranded in the mountains in the event a crash damages your fragile iPhone (or a phone battery dies prematurely) . I don’t recommend it.
That happen if you turn off the eBike after you lose your phone. If you lose your phone mid-trip and the eBike is not turned off, the Lock will not activate. There is also a new feature that allows you to use the kiox300 as a key / Lock
Would like to see Bosch provide a quick release mounted wireless throttle capable CL motor and a legit MTB manufacturer to make that motor optional in their lower/mid tier EMTBs. This makes their bike a true quality trail and commuter bike. Sadly, most commuter "Emtbs" are Chinese junk and weight a ton. A quality Emtb that does city duty when you can't hit the trails is a market they both miss. It's huge and getting bigger. Also, being quick release and wireless, you can remove the throttle as it can be not allowed on some city trials.
I agree with you. I have a speedbox 3.b and It's clear that although the update is fun, it's just a gimmick. I'd rather have an unrestricted bike than an smartphone app.
still years behind the best systems (Specialized), You can't adjust all modes and adjustments are quite 'simple', remote still massive and easy to damage, and why you can't adjust such a simple thing like overrun time ? Does it support Ant+/BLE to connect to your Garmin unit ??
Nah, spesh/Brose motor always feels low on power either side of its sweet spot. On paper the Brose should be better but on the trail overall the gen4 Bosch is better. I’ve had both. The Bosch motor is easier to get apart to change bearings and easier to work on. Hence why is consistently voted the best motor, also they’re out of warranty care far outstrips every other motor supplier in my experience as a working mechanic.
Guys I got a question I buyed recently a bike with Bosch cx motor gen 4. Engine runs amazing I got a question tho, when I ride my bike and stop pedaling or rotate pedals in negative side and start pedal again to accelerate I got small tiny gab in my mechanic pedal. Is this normal ? I got a feeling like the engine starts working again.. thanks
That does sound normal - there is a small amount of lag when you start pedalling again, which is due to the internal freewheel inside the crankset/chainring. Combined with the freewheel mechanism in the rear hub, you'll always have a bit of free movement before the pedals engage. Hope that helps! [Wil]
We mentioned it at 3:21 - it's a relatively new update that came out during the filming of the video, so we've not had a chance to give it a thorough test just yet. We've just received another new Bosch bike that we'll be testing it out on shortly - stay tuned! [Wil]
In your video I can see that with 81% of 750w battery you have 43Km (in eMTB mode). I have the same bike and battery, and before the last Bosch update (1.18) with 86% of battery I have only 38Km!! Have you noticed this??
Lol I run auto and disabled emtb. Prettymuch same but auto feels more dynamic. Im 120kg with riding gear and I get 52km on auto with 625whbattery at 97%
Have you ever heard of European laws where the maximum speed for scooters and ebikes has to be 25km/h? Just so you know, there are eBikes with Bosch motor in America and they reach 45km/h because the law allows it.
I have my other mt bike set for 0 km/hr (it has no motor) LOL . I do find it odd they limited it so low when other global places have it higher. Should be universal at the higher.
e- bikes in germany are limited to 25kph, e-scooters to 20kph (but usually use 22kph as 10% deviation is ok). I limit my bosch to 20kph in eco for training reasons.
These bikes are just too damn slow…..15.5mph is ludicrously slow. It’s hurting sales more than you will ever know. Bosch etc need to take the law makers to court and challenge this stupid rule.
Is it possible to replace Bosch LED Remote with Bosch Mini Remote? The LED Remote looks very unprofessional in my opinion and I'm not a fan of this 'disco' lights. Its just a cheap thing on an expensive equipement. I don't really need to know at which mode I'm riding as I can easily feel it. Same for battery.
Bought the Trek Rail 9.7 Gen4. The Bosch performance CX is restricted in Japan and its crap! No power at all and the different modes make no difference whatsoever... The previous Gen 2 had way more power. No response from Bosch or Trek to remedy this. Disappointed...
Tips for the battery: don't buy Bosch. They will not be waterproof, can't be repaired, can stop working due to a software! error. You never know if they will use proper LG cells or crappy Sanyo cells in your battery. Oh and they refuse to sell parts to a store that repairs an enclosure of a battery, because they're "harming the safety features". Pure corporate greed.
@@duncancccc Clearly I fix these batteries for a living. Clearly I've already had 38 of these batteries in for repair just the last 2 weeks. How can you see for yourself if the Extended Boost mode is switched on and thus if you have the 85NM full power tune or the 75Nm power tune?
Put it in Emtb mode and see if the overrun is active when you stop pedalling ?
Hallo, thanks for the video. I have a Cube SH 140 At. How did You solve the rapid wear of the small sprockets? 10-12 teeth
