Omfg I love this channel, yall got literally every single rpg I ever played as a kid 😊. Really love to see people still giving the lesser known games time to shine too
It's one of those things that cutting-edge graphics just don't have going for them. Stylized, lovely, low-res graphics looked fine back then and still look fine now. :D
I’ve never once played this game but I’ve “watched” this run so many times (usually because RUclips auto plays it while I’m asleep) that I randomly hum the soundtrack every so often. Great run though!

Man I remember when PJ played this on what, 2016 or 17? Time flies so fast or at least it feels like it anyways. Remember having lots of fun watching it the last time and will prob enjoy this one too. Have a good day people :)
I love this speedrun because of how small the venue is! GDQ is classic and all, but seeing this quieter environment and un-scripted commentary has a good vibe about it. I think PJ and the couch people seem a lot more relaxed as a result of that too, and it makes for funner runs.
There is plenty of un-scripted commentary during gdqs. It was just that one run. And mostly even here people have some notes or looked over things they want to talk about during the run.
@@NathanWubs there's a lot of people who are just pining for the days when GDQ was less popular and thus a little more homegrown feeling. RPGLB is still kind of in that phase, and is likely to stay there longer due to the more niche nature of the marathon. :)
Holy shit I didn't about the developers room. Great run and commentary! Love this game it brings back good memories just from listening to the soundtrack
I feel like snes had most of the best rpgs. Genesis had phantasy star and I’m struggling to think of more. Snes had a few greats: Ff4 Ff6 Secret of mana Secret of evermore Illusion of Gaia (time) Terranigma Robotrek Chrono trigger Super Mario rpg Star ocean (missing gem) I know there’s more - that’s just off the top of my head.

@nickhamilton2649 I think EVO gets rated about right personally. Great game, but has some massive flaws that make actually finishing it kind of a huge chore.
Great run highly entertaining. Also the interview at the end was done well by the interviewer and the runners, nothing felt forced and got people like me who were only mildly interested in the next game much more eager to watch. These two runs are thus two of my favorites from 2019's RPGLB.
52:50 "Our father's an inventor and he Robot Book is an heirloom in our family, but our father doesn't actually have any robots." ~cough cough cough~ Sorry, I just, uh, chocked on something there.
Great run, commentary, and Bob! I am disappointed by the comments: none mentioned that the only time the video went down this entire marathon was during PJ's run. I'm not saying it's PJ's fault, but somehow it was PJ's fault.
Napoleon throwing you over that gap was not the point of no return. You briefly go outside the fortress after that. You can call your spaceship from there.
I loved this game back in the day. I didnt speak english when I played it so I got stuck not far into the story. I even forgot it existed to be honest.
Even if you spoke (read) english, you could easily get stuck. Nonsense quest triggers and goofy writing made playing the game very hard to finish for me back in the day.
i have learned so much about this game. it always seemed like such an oddball but now i know the translation was butchered and it was called slapstick in japan. makes so much more sense now
when i was little and played this (never beat it) i named my robots "archie" "reggie" and "jughead" (orange green and greay respectively) because i collect archie comics and needed a trio name i should look this up and hope i find a good copy for cheap
Man I don't mean to be rude, this is one of my favorite runners and I'm glad to see a new pathing for this gem, but the audio mixing seems really low no matter what I do.
@@tacfort protip - go into your playback devices, right click and properties, enhancement tab, check equalizer, click the ... and make your own setting, with all channels turned all the way up, then save it with a name for using in the future. this more than doubled my laptop speaker volume. takes just a second or two to turn on and off, but i just keep it on and actually use my volume slider, instead of keeping it pegged at max at the time.
also, the loudness equalization checkmark right below equalizer makes a big difference two, combine the two and your speakers can almost get too loud :)
Such a great run by PJ. And Puwexil's commentary is always on point. I was especially impressed at his 6+ hour run at CTrigger! 😳 That is a LOT to memorize, dang. Also, shout-outs to the two 4% chances-to-hit whacking PJ. 😂 That's wild.
Anyone else repeatedly use this video as a distraction for falling asleep to ? I use to use his Lagoon speedrun but this one works a little better.
Oh same
@@inygs2807 awesome
Yes, and I can tell how long I’ve been sleeping when I wake up based on how far he is.
Been using this one and lagoon for months now😅 I throw pewuxil in there some times also
It’s like NyQuil in speed run form

I’ve been watching GDQ for years, but somehow this is the first time I’ve found RPGLB! So many more good runs to watch!
Are they not run by the same organization? The two seem so similar
@@seansolidworks4736 Nope! there's alot, and I mean ALOT of people who are running in both, but they are 100% different on the management side.
Congrats! I hope you've enjoyed all the good runs so far, since this is 7 months late, and hope you keep enjoying them.
me too. I just discovered a few weeks hence I love this channel
I like how all these old Quintet/Enix games have this vibrant, soft chunky graphic style. When you notice it, it is such a distinct style.

Same; rewatching it because my first watch I was doing some stuff, love this game.
Man. Hearing Bob bust a gut in the background after seeing the foot attack. That was as funny as the foot itself.
2:19:50
Why is it so hairy!? I love this game for sure. I played a walkthrough 100% run like 20 years ago that was unforgettable.
@@ImpmanPDX Because it's never had to wear socks and shoes.
I bought this game back in the day at Electronics Boutique because it had robots in the title.

Great runner, great couch, amazing run. This is exactly the kind of content I'm here for :D
Omg. Love Pj speed run. His previous robotrek run was very funny.
Puwexil has such a recognizable cadence when he speaks. Great run!

Yes and no metasigma to ruin the commentary :)
i’ve watched the other one at least 10 times haha
57:29 I'd like to point out that the Earthquake sound is the same sound effect used for Ella's teleport attack in Lagoon. Another "Game" run by PJ.

I just watched the 2016 run for the first time not 2 weeks ago. What timing!
“Hey, Napoleon, I d have this drill here from the beginning of the game that’s handy for breaking through walls *without* committing suicide…”
Robotrek? Meh, never heard of-
...run by *PJ?* I know what I'm doing for four hours.
He really is one of the most socially affable and entertaining speedrunners there is.
@Johnny Winsky
This is such a weird and stupid trend
Holy shit I didn't about the developers room. Great run and commentary! Love this game it brings back good memories just from listening to the soundtrack
The more I watch RPGLB, the more I realized I missed in the SNES/Genesis library.
There where definitely some great games from that era of gaming
I feel like snes had most of the best rpgs. Genesis had phantasy star and I’m struggling to think of more.
Snes had a few greats:
Ff4
Ff6
Secret of mana
Secret of evermore
Illusion of Gaia (time)
Terranigma
Robotrek
Chrono trigger
Super Mario rpg
Star ocean (missing gem)
I know there’s more - that’s just off the top of my head.
5:10 The robot is called “BooBoo” and just below BooBoo…”Wipe Back End”
This game is so f...ing good. Most underrated rpg on the SNES
I loved this game as a kid. Another great one that never made it to the US is star ocean. Definitely worth checking it out if you enjoy the golden age of snes rpgs
EVO is. this is probably 2nd. ogre battle is also very very good but its much more commonly known
@@nickhamilton2649my man. I finally bit the bullet and bought an EVO cart last week and have Robotrek on the way

This is old but... Rusk is a twice baked bread, it can be cake or plain bread. Similar to hard tack only from India.
I love this game, but I can't unsee the resemblance the player's robots have to Eggrobo from Sonic 3.
Great run, commentary, and Bob!
I am disappointed by the comments: none mentioned that the only time the video went down this entire marathon was during PJ's run. I'm not saying it's PJ's fault, but somehow it was PJ's fault.

Pj the best moustache in gaming
Moustaches are very odd and suspicious but PJ gets a pass just for being so affable.
Funny how not long after the game is compared to Pokemon an invisible item is found on the ground.
i have learned so much about this game. it always seemed like such an oddball but now i know the translation was butchered and it was called slapstick in japan. makes so much more sense now
OoO the new one is out!!! loved this run from Pj during 2016!!!.
Awsome man, played this game after watching that run. Its fun.
Someone should do a rom hack to add original weapon/item names, let you buy multiples of items at one time, etc.

Robotrek is a great game!!!!
No shell grinding? Interesting...
A lovely run!
That man put on the colorblind mode with those robot colors
Mint can get to space, but can Mint mobile get to space? Is that not why it's called Mint mobile because it gets everywhere?
So how fun is this game playing casually?
Listen to the commentary, he literally says it's fun when played casually.
This game is a great rpg. Another snes classic that didn’t make it to the US is star ocean. The golden age of snes RPGs
Matt (MYATT) Bragg from ''Achievement Hunter'' is on the far left lol
Man I don't mean to be rude, this is one of my favorite runners and I'm glad to see a new pathing for this gem, but the audio mixing seems really low no matter what I do.
The audio mixing is low? What do you mean?
Lots of speedrun recordings are like that for some reason
you're not wrong, i feel like the audio levels were set too low when most of the RPGLB 2019 vods were bounced out for youtube.
Is it just me or does the audio sound a little low?
Not just you. Pretty hard to hear on laptop speakers.
