    Im starting a lighting business where Ill ship the lights for the customer to setup themselves for their event. The IR4 sounds like a great option or the slimpar 56 by Chauvet (or the like) seems like a good option as well Do you have a recommendation?

    First let me point out that I'm not a DJ, I'm a KJ (different animal and different needs), but I also have a small Light & Sound business on the side While the Both S4 is very tempting there are a couple of reasons why (even at the higher cost) the Chauvet Freedom Flex H9IP (wish they hadn't discontinued the Flex H4IP) is better for me.
    First is the IP rating. With an indoor event it's not a problem, but I do a fair amount of outside events and the S4 is indoor IP20 whereas the Chauvet is outdoor IP65. In good weather it's not an issue, but if for any reason it starts to make wet.....
    The second is battery life. Best example is your cell phone. New, it seems to hold a charge forever, but as time goes on that time shrinks until the battery doesn't hold a charge for long and has to be sent in to replace the battery or you have to replace the phone (also take in mind that batteries have a limited number of recharges). The Both lights will also have this issue, whereas with the Chauvet, if needed the batteries can be replaced on the fly by the user (kind of like a rifle clip, press a button, it pops out the old one and then you just pop in a new one). This could be a life saver if the show lasts longer than the battery life or you have back to back shows without sufficient time to recharge. Plus it's much easier (and cheaper) to carry spare batteries than to have to carry spare units.
    Also there"s one other advantage to the Chauvet unit for the wedding DJ. While the H9 only comes in black there is a white slip on cover available. Which means that depending on the event, there's no need to buy two different color units when one will do the job..
    If Both would address those issues, I'd try to be first in line.
    That said, love the videos, I'm still learning and your video's have helped me a lot, keep 'em coming.
    Regards,
    KarenB

      We have a IP 65 version of the s4. We just dont have it on the website as most people do not what to pay the extra for it. But can order for special cases.
      The batteries are actually swapable on all both lgihting lights. Not as easy as the chauvet but the s4 is a simple 4 screws on the bottom unclip the battery clip a new one in. Typically we have seen after about 3 to 4 years is the typical life span for the batteries tepending on charge cycles

    Was hoping to see some side by side comparison. I'm torn on choosing between the ir-4 and the s4. I have a question about durability and what mitigations are used to prevent people from stepping on the ir4s or kids messing with them. Is this fear irrational? Or is there something you do to prevent crowds interfering with the fixtures

      I own ape labs, S4’s and IR4’s. The IR4’s have a very wide beam, and not very bright at all. They are more like wash lights. You won’t get the beautiful “column” of light look, with the IR4’s. The S4’s are closer to the look of the ape labs. After owning them for over a year now (I was one of the first in line!) I’m really disappointed in the IR4’s. They are cheap wash lights. Like Rick says, you get what you pay for. In this case you get cheap starter lights.
      The Ape Labs are truly in a league of their own, but of course they cost 4x as much.

    I'm more concerned about lighting quality considering most of the lights I see from Chinese companies aren't very good I know a lot of them use the same fixtures but some of them don't, another concern I have is the build quality and longevity of the products considering they're cheaper and more cheaply made.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  8 месяцев назад

      I along with many other multiop companies have 50 to 200 of these lights. I have had two break along the 3 yesrs of ownership. But a $12 main board fixed them both. You have to buy from a reputable china supplier that supports the product

    What about the S4 Mini 6*18w RGBWAUV 6in1 Led Par uplight, that’s more compact than the S4 and possibly better battery life, than the IR4..

    • @DJRickWeb

      S4 minis have more issus than there worth. Internal dmx and led diode problems lead us to not recommend them at all

    I have 12x s6 and 8x ir4’s and the ir4’s aren’t as bright as the s6. Also the battery life is not enough for dj’s in Europe. Where the weddings are way longer 😅
    The s6 can do the job easily never had a battery problem with them

    • @Realdjheisenberg
      @Realdjheisenberg 8 месяцев назад +1

      Ape labs have “infinite” range. You could in theory link them for miles and not lose control signal, because each fixture transmits the signal to the next fixtures. If you try to cover large ballrooms with BothLighting, you won’t reach the back of the ballroom.
      The lenses are also much higher quality. The both IR4 aren’t really uplights, they are more like wash pars (very wide coverage). The ape labs maxis have a beautiful narrow beam. Like Rick said, you get what you pay for. But he forgot to mention all the extras you get with that price.
