I think it might be to soon to let people back. Even if the eruption happens in the same area as the last one, lava could still flow to either the Blue Lagoon or Grindavik area. Yes there are barriers, but what if lava flows cut off the escape routes.
One area where it could erupt is on the southern end of the last eruption. If that happens then lava would flow more to the Grindavik side, where they're building the new barriers.
However, if it erupts more on the northern side, lava would flow around the Blue Lagoon and power plant side.

So now they have had a road worker fall into a fischer/ cravas and he is missing since last night. All they have found is his tools. The weather is terrible and they have crews and a crane searching for this poor man. I fear for the worst. They think he is at least 30 meters down. What an awful thing to happen. In my opinion they should not be forcing people to live in their homes in Grindavik. The insurance companies have bailed on almost everyone so it leaves them little choice than to live in their houses that are extremely damaged and are in an unsafe area. The Blue Lagoon never shoud have been reopened. This is all about money and safety is being severly overlooked imo. This whole situation is very sad.

Well ... not really. But the land rise is increasing, that's what's changing, so expect an eruption near Grindavik soon!
